Not sure how he was decided. In m opinion he is a much better fighter than willie monroe. He was caught against lee but is a pretty good fighter if you follow his career.
Why not an easier ask?
He can box cute but he’s gotta be rusty and have ****ty stamina at this point, no way he can keep it up for 12 and who knows if he has enough to put Charlo away who seems to have an ok chin.

--- A carney shell game using BALCO Vic Conte VADA PEDs to switch out to a weaker opponent.
Rubes are easily fooled. Korobov had 6 days to make 160 after 4 years circling the drain...only in boxing...
He looked decent in march of 2018. This could be a trap fight, watch this one
Yeah. Against this dude:

No disrespect to Matvey - at his best he was technically one of the best around (even if he never looked as fluid as in his ammy days) - and if he's even 80% of his best he could make Jermall really work for it, but he's 35 years old and hasn't had a fight worth a damn in 4 years.
He ain't gonna have forgotten those top flight skills, but that's a hell of a lot of rust to shake off and fighting a dude like Batista won't have knocked off more than a few flakes. Could be a good fight, likely will be at least more intriguing than Monroe, but hard to imagine even a top level fighter come back at close to full fettle after so long.
Hard to imagine who would want to trap Jermall on the twins' showcase card either, though I'm not sure it was particularly wise of his management to make a fight which at it's best don't give much reward but at it's worst could make Jermall struggle.
He was scheduled to fight on the card anyway so at least he's in fighting shape. I agree though, a few years back he would have been a decent opponent on Charlos way up the ladder at 160. Still his best opponent to date st 160 which speaks volumes about the opposition at that weight on the PBC side of the street
He was scheduled to fight at 168, but hes made the weight with no problems so lets see. Hes been calling for a fight for the last years, noone would pick him up though. Ive no idea what to make of it all tbh

Here’s hoping. People point out it was a nobody at 175, but I’m hoping that was just a stay busy fight at his walk around weight.
Korobov a few years ago would have been a great fight. Short notice, weight cut, inactivity, makes it not so
