All that "white boy" stuff was just to sell the fight or an attempted psyche out.
The above is 3 years later.
Joe Calzaghe is a master. He never shows animosity towards his students.Joe and Hopkins are both masters and Hopkins is nobody's student. I thought Hopkins won their fight and if he was as young as Joe he would have beat him much easier.
:lol1: he must of been a substitute teacher in the ring that night cause he didn't teach Hopkins anything
He had Hopkins wanting to quit, trying to get points deducted and stopped trying to win.
Everyone knows Bhop was as dirty as they come. is this your counterargument to my post...because its the point I made in my post!
I was agreeing with you. I am not sure how you can disagree with agreement with you, but you just pulled it off.
And your fiction is poor. tisca shame for this part of your post that Joe specifically said he had to lowblow hopkins to survive, words from his mouth.
What you are actually doing is calling joe calzaghe a poor fiction writer.
nice one again.
. It was a close fight. But Bhop clearly lost. a split decision is never clear, but close is correct.
Hopkins doesn't really hold grudges vs most of his foes.
I thought Hopkins outboxed Calzaghe but got jobbed.
Hopkins and Tito Trinidad get along...why would he beef with Calzaghe now that their fighting days are over.
Calzaghe lost his dad, there are more important things than boxing.
Both guys love the sport and made money off each other.
Nice photos, thanks for sharing.
bit rich seeing as joe had to hit bhop in the balls in order to avoid getting koed in round 2, which he admitted to!
But bhops a dirty fighter, one of the most. I tihnk he meant outside the ring, Bhoip doesnt go round hitting welters in the balls outside the ring. if u get me. not 2 my knowledge anyway.
Everyone knows Bhop was as dirty as they come. Ask Winky. And your fiction is poor. The ref and all unbiased people know a gassed Bhop twice faked getting hit low. Ref told him to cut the bull. It was a close fight. But Bhop clearly lost.
"Gentleman".
Hmmm.
Winky Wright--already at a weight disadvantage--said every time ref couldn't see, Bhop hit him in the balls or used other illegal tactics. bit rich seeing as joe had to hit bhop in the balls in order to avoid getting koed in round 2, which he admitted to!

they both have a case, its quite easy to argue their fight between joe and 43 year old hopkins was a draw. Its obvious why joe fought him when he was 43, he could wear him out by that age with volume alone, because he wasnt able to outbox bernard for 6 rounds. hopkins made him look amateur for that half of the fight.
But Bhop should have been wiser not to pick a guy with such a young mans stamina tank. After round 6 he let joe back into the fight.

I along with many others believe Hopkins won the fight, but it doesn't matter. Was close and could've gond either way, can't argue with the decision.
But anyways to answer the question, who sits there holding a grudge in this sport for so many years at that level? It's business at the end of the day.
The only person I see that still seems to hate the person who beat them to this day is Carl Froch in regards to Andre Ward. How can someone who beat you fair and square make you that bitter? You made millions for that fight and I'm sure that defeat taught you a lot and made you a better fighter. Ironically Froch did a lot of talking in the build up for that one and Ward was pretty quiet. Why that fight gave Froch PTSD, I will never know.
hopkins is a gentleman. besides, he didnt feel he lost, he feels he got robbed. disagree with him if you want, im just saying how he feels. i agree with him for that matter. nonetheless hopkins is a class act whenever he isnt promoting a fight. dude just went 10 years as champion underpaid. late in his career he wanted to make some money and he knew america wouldnt accept him as the good guy.
