Roy is also FAR superior than Lennox. He WAS a HBO announcer but is no longer one now. They should definitely go after him before DAZN grabs him.
Lennox was once a HBO announcer himself...And was a terrible one at that. That's not really a good excuse for not going after Roy.
Lennox Lewis was a rotating HBO announcer so long ago that folks (most people, tbh) forgot.
Jim Lampley, Harold Lederman, Larry Merchant, and Max Kellerman are clearly tied to HBO (Kellerman having a sports rep outside of HBO innoculates him a boy). Roy Jones Jr, Emmanuel Steward, Lennox Lewis and George Foreman all filled the competitor's seat, but Lennox didn't do it for long enough or notably enough to get the HBO stink on him.
He's an HBO announcer though, in a world where FOX Sports is working to put together a team/identity that should represent their boxing coverage for the next 5-20 years, depending on how things go.
Distinctly FOX voices, more or less.
If anything, Roy likely has a better shot at sticking with DAZN, tbh; DAZN is hanging their hat currently on "here are a few names/faces you should know; check us out".

Yeah, as long as DAZN is plucking announcers from the reject bin, please replace SRL with RJJ immediately.
Roy should most definitely be on the team...he brings a lot

Good Team! Joe Goossen has a TON of Knowledge and been in and around the sport a very long time, use to laugh at him schooling Ellie Sechback at him gym when Ellie first started covering boxing and would say just the dumbest stuff. Ellie rant to Joe's Gym after Wildcard Banned Him :lol1:
As for Lennox, I honestly don't remember him being as bad as people claim on HBO and I remember him calling fights specifically Mayweather vs Zab Judah
Lennox was bad no other way to put it. One of my favorite fighters ever, but damn was he bad. Even in the Floyd/Judah fight he was terrible. Said at one point, you know if Floyd can double up on the right hand or come back with the hook, he can be a great fighter...To which Lampley responded, Lennox I think he already is great LOL.

Max just got a new weekly boxing show on ESPN starting in 2019.
Roy is the guy FOX should go after in replacing Lewis with. At least on some of the cards.
Goossen and Albert should do a nice job. Can't say the same for the rest, especially Mr. "Respect."
Great to hear this. ESPN giving Max his own weekly boxing show, and FOXSports providing boxing shows on a consistent basis is huge for the sport. People said boxing was dead only because they treated it like it was dead. Mayweather being the richest athlete in the world proved that there was still money in the sport.
If ESPN and other sports shows actually covered the sport and put KOs in the top 10 plays, boxing would tap the younger generation.

Nice!!! For all the chit WE (Boxing fans) gave Kellerman all these years, Once HBO closed up shop is when reality hit especially with Max's voice being all fugged up for that last card.
Looking forward to Hear Max back in the boxing Mix on his own show.
I wonder IF Max & Roy will eventually pop up calling fights again anytime soon???
