Nobody now a days watches Live TV. Everything is recorded thru dvr or online thru smart tv or smartphone. The younger generation don’t watch as much live tv. Cable companies a losing a lot of subscribers. Internet’s apps & Smart TVs are the future. The technology of phone screen mirroring to TV is the future. That’s why big TV companies all have apps now and YouTube channels. I don’t even have to watch TV now for weather updates when I can just go to the phone to see what up. DAZN is investing for the future.
True and I'm 26, so I'm right in the middle. I prefer watching it on TV, but sometimes on Saturday night, I'm not home to watch. So I have to watch on my phone or watch on my friend's Roku or laptop.
I'm way over 40 so I either watch on live TV or DVR and watch the next day. I never watch on phone/laptop/tablet ever.
I think PBC did it this way because it traditionally markets to a more older and more urban demographic (they are a CBS company so it makes sense since CBS is geared more toward older people) that still watches a lot of TV.
They do need a way to better calculate how many people get content through the app though.
Didn't realize that. I only watch the skip and shannon show on the Fox app at work.
Using just my house as a guide, the multiple platform idea is best because I still like watching fights on TV while my son prefers to watch things on his phone, like most kids in his generation.
I hope ESPN makes the switch to something like that.

True and and FOX also lets you stream all of their sports live on their app. I watched the PBC's shows on the Charlo brothers live on FoxSportsGo Saturday.

SHO seems to have it right-offer a subscription channel for those that like cable and as part of your subscription you get the app for free. Appeals to all age groups.

Live sports still rules television and is a big reason why the UFC and boxing got so big network deals this past year. Streaming is no question the future, but the demise of television is grossly exaggerated. As Evan said, live sports is arguably the most effective programming out there and that is why every network is after every sport. Streaming is definitely the future but having linear television to go along with it goes a long way. WWE does that, SHO does that as well as FOX and ESPN. You have to account for your entire audience, not just the 30 and below crowd.
...Besides SPORTS!
NFL, NBA, NCAA Football live games get massive ratings. TV Shows is what people stream and get caught up on. Sports is completely different, going back and watching a live major sporting event is not the same at all compared to watching it LIVE
So yeah streaming TV SHOWS and MOVIES, but live sporting events will never be replaced and the NFL, NBA, MLB, NCAA will never be exclusive to a APP because it generates way too much money from Network Deals and the Networks will continue to invest big on those sports and throw around Billions of $ for their rights because they make their money off of running commercials during those events. For boxing you need a Network to go along with the APP like what ESPN/ESPN+ is doing for it to work. Also ESPN+ have more than just boxing and they will also get the UFC in 2019
This is a good point as well.
Showtime has had an app for 2 years now, and ESPN+ has over a million subscribers within 6 months.
DAZN isn't as innovative as you think.
