Eddie Hearn to the rescue again! Here to save us from American promoters, bad fights and pay per view when the main event of Demetrius Andrade putting his WBO Middleweight Championship of the world against Artur Akavov! Pay per view quality!!!
Also Big Baby vs TBA. Wondering who they’re pulling out of retirement for that mismatch.
Spot on! He 100% won the lottery, after back to back shocking David Haye PPV’s Sky were set to completely cut boxing from their product portfolio.
This forced Sky’s former lead promoter Frank Warren to use a significant portion of his own capital to launch his own boxing channel to fulfil the needs of his stable.
Sky now had a new competitor in the market, so decided to re-invest in boxing. The two leading candidates to become Sky’s lead promoter were Ricky Hatton and Frank Maloney.
Hatton had recently been caught by a national newspaper binging on booze and drugs, and Maloney was having serious gender identity problems. This left Sky with no other option but to hand the keys of the kingdom over to Matchroom.
This allowed Hearn to sign Froch, Brook, Bellew, Cleverly, DeGale, Groves, Burns, Crolla etc. The majority from Warren, and all because of the Sky platform.
Don’t get me wrong, Hearn played his hand extremely well and has shamelessly used Sky’s multimedia dominance perfectly in exploiting the casual market.
But it’s not that hard to be successful when you’re dealt a royal flush...

Nail on the head
That's very true.
Hearn won the lottery when he landed that exclusive deal with Sky.
Being able to dangle that gigantic carrot which is Sky Sports for fighters is damn near unfair. It's Sky the fighters are wanting to join it doesn't matter who the promoter is. Anyone would do well if they had an exclusive deal with Sky and strong backing from the head of Sky Barney Francis who's a huge boxing fan.
Frank Warren now has an exclusive deal with BT Sport which is decent he has somewhat of a carrot he can dangle for fighters but nothing in comparison to Sky.
A damn sight better than solely Boxnation which has basically no budget :lol1: But to be fair to Frank to build that Subscription channel from the ground up to now have an exclusive deal with BT Sport including PPV dates is very impressive.

Look at the big dogs in America. Arum and King have been doing this longer than Eddie has been alive. Haymon has significantly less experience but he’s still got about 15 years working the sport in America and has his fingerprints over the biggest events possible.
If they want to freeze out Hearn, they can. Nobody in America needs Eddie Hearn.
Yeah exactly, experience counts in this game. Look how easily Finkel exposed him in the AJ-Wilder saga
Yeah definitely, I think his main problem is deep down he doesn’t truly understand the boxing business. He’s been largely protected by Sky who absolutely dominate the sports sector in the UK, so whatever he produces is marketed and promoted far greater than any other rival product.
He doesn’t have those supreme advantages in the US, as it’s a much vaster and more competitive market, and it’s filled with absolute sharks of the boxing business such a Arum, Haymon etc. He’s way out of his depth and I think he knows it deep down.

I think he definitely underestimated how much power Al Haymon has for sure.

That was evident when he asked for proof of funds for the 50m offer. Maybe that’s huge in the UK, but fights in Vegas have 8 digit numbers attached all the time, and Haymon has had his hands on many of them. Ditto Arum.
FFS who did Fast Eddie think he was dealing with? Al Haymon had his hands all over the two biggest PPV events of all time in the US and built the biggest boxing promotion in the US that now has deals with Showtime and FOX? Did he think Al was some slappy who had never negotiated a thing in his life?
Honestly starting to question if Hearn has a real strategy for the US market. I mean I get in the UK that you can stage these bum matches and people will still get dressed up and treat out like a big night out. I mean Whyte-Chisora is like Ali-Frazier over there.
But you have to start putting some real fights here in the US Eddie. I get the starting slow part but you can't possibly think these events are going to draw flies..

Hearn has failed in the US just like we all knew he would. Much vaster and completely different market.
The big fish jumped out the small pond and straight into the ocean.

"I've come to the USA to kill PPV! PPV is awful and dated!!
NoOooo...Don't look over here at my UK cards where every ****ty fight is a PPV!"
😂😂Exactly, the guys a complete hypocrite. US boxing fans are a lot more savvy and have higher expectations than British fans though. They demand quality level boxing, Hearn rarely produces that and he won’t be able to get away with it in the US market.
lol what exactly do you mean by this?
Meaning that most of the people who defend Eddie sh#t shows are Brits in the UK. They don't have DAZN or Access to it, they get these sh#t cards on Sky so they not the ones paying $9.99 a month for them
Most of the people defending Eddie Hearn Sh#t Shows are not paying for DAZN and don't even have access to it :nonono:
But yes, he needs to do his part and provide better shows from Matchroom USA instead of trying to ride Canelo Wave and act as if Canelo is his fighter too. GBP I think is a GREAT Investment for DAZN but Matchroom USA been a FLOP so far on DAZN

We’ve had to put up with this sh** in the UK for years. We’ve got Whyte-Chisora on PPV for f**ks sake😂😂
“He’s taking ova doe”🤣🤣

Hearn can spin it however he wants but he did not intend to have such a weak start.
Bare in mind at the DAZN announcement he listed his target signings as Mikey Garcia, Charlo brothers, Wilder, Thurman, Porter, Broner, Tank Davis etc and he has failed to land any of them.
Who's the best USA name he's signed? Either Andrade or Jessie Vargas.
He better hope that AJ keeps winning.
