First of all god bless Stevenson and I hope he gets better. Second I would like to say boxing is a dangerous sport and boxers amateur or professional know the risk of this sport. We know that once they enter that ring they may leave the ring they may never be the same. Stop blaming the sport of boxing and the fans for wanting hardcore knockouts & action packed fights. Boxers are professionals working a job they know is dangerous just like cops & firefighters and any other jobs that has thousands of deaths per year more than boxing.
I visit here every day and I have yet to read a single post blaming boxing or fans wanting to see KOs for Stevenson's injuries. We all wish him well and hope he has suffered no permanent damage. We understand boxing is dangerous and the risk of injury or death is there for all boxers in every fight unless they are fighting Paulie.
The sport could make adjustments to improve boxer safety.
Some refs and many corners allow their fighters to take WAY too much damage, particularly in non-title fights.
Fight culture must be more accepting to throwing in the towel aka “quitting”.
its like soldiers who die in combat. they know the risks. yet we still honor them and salute them when they get killed. Adonis is a fallen soldier at the moment and the best you can do is send positive energy his way. saying "well you knew the risks" isn't very positive.
I understand the greater implications of the situation in the sense that what happened to stevenson could have happened to any other boxer and that we should feel a certain anxiety about it.
At the same time, I can't help but realize that had this guy committed the exact same crimes but received a harsher sentence & been severely beaten in a prison fight rather than a boxing match, nobody would be sending him "get well soon" cards.
You would all, to a man, be laughing at a guy who confined teenage girls to a dog kennel existence & regularly beat them getting a taste of his own medicine and basking in the glorious karma.
How much of the concern is utterly fake?
You know the dangers of driving a car on the highway too. The odds are different certainly but knowing something is dangerous doesn't make it any less tragic when it goes wrong.
But there is far more that they can and should do. Such as immediately taking the KOed boxer to the ER regardless of lack of symptoms.
Every minute counts and by the time symptoms appear, the brain has swelled more. Likewise for any boxer that took many head blows even if not KOed.
Yea, we all get the high school logic that is a business and they know what they're getting into.
People with a little more sophistication sometimes have a degree of compassion though and they think about the consequences of their entertainment.
I don't have any big problem with boxing as referees generally err on the side of caution. I feel terrible when tragedies happen but you can't take away a man's right to engage in a combat sport. For some of us the desire is something ancient that's in our blood.
What I don't like is the way mma fighters are expected to fight until they're unconscious. Though I'm a big mma fan, that aspect is immature, dangerous, and all together fuked up, IMO.
Oh please. Don't ever in your life articulate something with so much logic. Here at NSB, we want everyone to die in the ring. We don't care about their families or friends.
I'm being sarcastic lol. But greatly worded and I agree with you.

I just hope all this situation doesn’t soften up the sport like the NFL is currently doing. This a gladiator sport no need to *****fy it!
