Mikey Garcia is messing up boxing...

Height isn't the only factor, frame counts just as much. Mikey maxes out at 140 - and even there he looks a little soft. Spence is a big welter, wouldn't look out of place at 154 He wouldn’t look out of place at 160 either. He’s a huge welter. I think that if Mikey tries to put on added weight for 47 he’s gonna look like schit. He isn’t the fastest in the world now, add some weight and he’s gonna look bad at 47. But as Mikey has stated in the past... he sees some deficiency in Spence he can capitalize on. We must all be blind af!

Its a ridiculous fight. Even Robert Garcia didn't seem to thrill about it. Haymon doesn't GAF about Mikey and is using him to build Spence who is clearly the future of the WW div. The point is Duran started his career at 135, moving up to 147 to fight Leonard was 2 weight classes. Mikey won his first title at featherweight, and has already moved up 2 weight classes. In his foray into the 140lb division, he took on someone who is similar in size to him, who also came from a lower weight class in Broner. 135lb is as far as his power carries up it seems, and he is choosing to move up to 147 to face someone who started at 147lb, is huge for 147lb, and has openly discussed his difficulty even making the weight. Not only that, but he is incredibly skilled. Its not like he is going up to fight a plodder like Margarito. Spence is the real thing. The size difference is just too big, just like it was for Rigondeaux vs Lomachenko. They will look 2 weight classes appart in the ring, and thats going to be something that Mikey can't change. Spence will be 165lb+ in the ring, just like he has been many times before. Garcia in his fight with Broner, claims to have weighed 146lb on fight night. A guy that rehydrated 6lb at 140lb, vs a guy that rehydrates 18lbs at 147... They wont be close enough in size to make it competitive. Mikey hits hard at 135lb, but he doesn't hit as hard at 135lb as he did at lower weights. He will be a very very average puncher at 147lb, and he will be at a weight, height, reach, and age disadvantage. I love Mikey Garcia, I would rate him higher than Spence p4p, but this isn't a p4p matchup, this is head to head, and spence is just too big. Good points. :boxing:

I would rather have Mikey v Loma because it’s more meaningful to me. It’s the fight we would be getting in the era I started watching boxing. For those that can understand that I hope you agree. That said The narrative from some people in this thread is utterly crazy. Mikey fighting Spence annoys a lot of people because it means Loma can’t make an excuse to not fight Crawford if he has no worthy opponent.

Honestly, as much as I would of liked to see that fight happen, I just think that Loma might be too small for Mikey right now. Mikey probably should of stayed at 140, there's plenty of competition and new blood for him to fight there. The size difference between Mikey and Spence is greater than the size difference between Mikey and Loma, and Loma and Rigondeaux.

Mikey has said that there was not a solid chance of a Loma fight, at least for now since he is fighting a Tank Davis leftover. Loma wanted a fight like this after his surgery before a big fight with someone like Mikey. MG moving up to fight Spence may be a much better fight than most think. Mikey was a featherweight. Spence will fight at middleweight one day. Spence's stock fell when he agreed to this fight.

His best win is gggs leftovers Plus Spence is both black and American which always brings out the negative posts from you.

Because it's a win-win situation for Mikey. Once Spence KO's him he'll still get credit for fighting the bigger man. He want's no parts of Loma that much is obvious
