Deontay Wilder retained his WBC heavyweight crown after battling to a split decision draw against Britain's Tyson Fury in a pulsating 12-round battle. Wilder had Fury on the canvas twice, including a spectacular final round knockdown, but was unable to get the knockout victory he had promised to deliver at the Staples Center. There is a difference between Elite and A fighters (IMO). Mayweather is elite. Pac, Morales, Ali, Lewis, are ELITE fighters.
Keith Thurman, Shawn Porter. Tim Bradley. Carl Froch. These guys are A fighters. Wilder belongs here.
I don't agree with the notion that you are either elite or a b-class fighter. There is a level in between.
The judge from Cali though, he scored 7rds to 5 for Wilder 115-111. Dunno what fight he scored.
Not doubt his score was way off! Reminded me of Adelaide Byrd's score card of 118-110 to Alvarez (Canelo vs GGG I).

Well.. I mean alot of the rounds were very hard to score to be fair..
Thank you! You can't just get dropped ridiculously two times and expect to walk away with a win. The judge from Cali though, he scored 7rds to 5 for Wilder 115-111. Dunno what fight he scored.
I ain't no school boy! Clearly Wilder won two rounds by 2 points. Because of that all he needed was three quiet rounds.
You and I were not offical judges. I can see a scenario where a judge saw it a draw. Fury goes down only once and he wins! No one is saying Wilder won!
Wilder was out weighed by 30-40 pounds and still he moved forward. That's Evander Holyfield, Manny Pacquiao is the only boxer to win 12 major world titles in eight 8 different weight divisions, Jack Dempsey (193lbs pound Heavy weight) and Rocky Marciano (188lbs heavy weight).
The only loser Saturday night was AJ!
Bet Wilder & Fury make $20 million a piece on the rubber match.
Just accept fury was robbed and the judges gave rounds to wilder he didn't deserve. You shouldn't win rounds for looking amatuer
If Robert guerro or Carlos baldimir had of knocked Floyd down twice would they deserve a draw?
Fury robbed himself by going down a 2nd time.
I only pointed out a scenario where the fight is a draw based on what the judges saw?
Note: All of you who don't read so well, I never said Fury lost.
You know why Fury was so graceful to the American public?
In the rematch he can double his net worth, which today stands at $20 million US.

Stop crying about Fury going down twice. That's 4 points and only 2 rounds. There are still 10 other rounds of which Wilder won 2 tops. That's 6 points for Wilder and 8 for Fury. You don't win the fight just because you knock your opponent down. Learn how to score a fight before you say stupid **** and I'm not from the other side of the pond.

Fury made Wilder miss, but he didn't often make him pay. Let's not pretend that Fury had an high and accurate punch either.
Before fight it was accepted wilder needs to Ko fury to win, he's not outboxing fury.He failed to do what he promised.
Fury promised to outbox wilder and he d id.?
But actually before fight it was suggested fury would need to ko wilder as he would get done by the judges.
So whatever way you see it. Only wilder failed in prediction.
Yes it was clear robbery. How amateurish fury have to make wilder look. Wilder threw much more yet landed less. Fury landed more every round though.
If a fighter missed so many isn't it because fury showed masterful defense? Wilder had a punches chance but the problem with that is you have to mail opponent to floor for 10 secinds.
If a fight is close, nothing to separate them then a knockdown makes the difference. But not if your being given boxing lesson

My point is Lewis vs Holyfield 1, was an outrageous robbery. This fight simply was not. As much as I hate clear robberies, I hate the howls of robbery in close or hard to score fights almost as much.

This seems to be the case. Because numerous recent fight scorings were clear cut robberies , people think all fight scores are fixed. That it occurs at all is an indication that all fights can be, but there isn't a need to do it all the time.
A draw here is reasonable.
Likewise because some refs' counting is off, people are screaming that this one was way off when it was near perfect.
This particular fight had people give some rds to Fury because the expected KO from Wilder did not come.
When the favorite fighter doesn't win, people too readily scream fix. Here even though the 12th rd count was near perfectly started and counted, and that's easily verified, people still "see" or "hear" an extra 5 or 10 seconds.
Totally agree.
The count is the refs count. He picks it up from the timekeeper and hold out his hands to the downed fighter. It is never going to be accurate as he doesn't start a stopwatch. He has to continue the count whilst checking the condition of the fighter.
Likewise the downed fight will only go off the refs count. Fury got up at 9 so absolutely no issues there. There could be some mild annoyance at the extra time he was granted once he was on his feet, but by the same token, if he was unsteady then it would have been stopped.
It was nothing compared to the recovery Wilder got against Ortiz with the Doctor checking him out at the end of the break.

I guess you know Lewis' career better than he does. Who is Lennox Lewis to make analysis about the current heavyweight division or speak about his own history in the ring anyway?

Lennox was on of my favorite boxers but i disagree on him saying it's hard for Brits to win in US. He should think that the British judge scored it 113-113. And oh Brook won over Porter, right Lennox?
Same thing happened to Lennox. The British judge Larry O'Connell scored it a draw. Like Phil Edwards, he was also a ref. Uncanny.
are u joking or you made your transition from Ballet to boxing last night and watched your first fight ever?
This guy is trying to be the next j razor I think, destined for the ignore list of most rational people.
You might call that a win on your side of the pond but Fury went down twice...................So cry all you want.
Thank Reiss for giving Fury a long count!

This was nothing like Holyfield vs Lewis 1. Lewis didn’t get dropped once nevermind twice. Lewis shut Holyfield out too. Fury did not shut Wilder out, the rounds without knockdowns were all pretty difficult to score. Wilder was missing a lot, but Fury was not throwing a tonne of punches. I have no problem with the decision.

You can't just feint your way to victory Lennox. Someone who claims to be a commentator should attempt to stifle his bias for his countrymen. Fury has no hands and can't even hurt his opponents. On the other hand wilder nearly murdered him in there. Go back to britian with your pity party.
