The question is simple. Was Fury robbed tonight?
I gave Wilder two rounds tonight, his knockdown rounds. Not enough in my book. I can post my full card shortly.
I voted he deserved the win. Just to argue semantics though I wouldn't call it a robbery, if he had stayed on his feet for the 12th he takes an SD win. Possible 1 judge was paid off but not the other 2.
This makes sense, I can agree with at least a split decision win, although even one judge being bought is despicable.
No, I thought the fight was very close and was up for grabs. The onus was on Fury to make sure he won the fight and left everything behind but he didn't do that.
The burden of proof was on him to take the champion's title away from him and yet he failed to do just that. He played it too safe and cautious by not taking enough risks or chances and by trying not to lose which ended up costing him the fight in the end.
Ring generalship favors champions not challengers like Tyson Fury. Effective aggressiveness favors the challengers against champions.
All Fury needed to do was just win one more round and then that Green belt would have been all his but no. He neither tried hard enough or wanted it badly enough in order to do so.
He chose to coast to the scorecards instead of just fighting.
Huge Wilder fan here but our guy was purely striking air for 10 out of those 12 rounds. Fury won, no question about it and it hurts to see Wilder claim otherwise.
We need a rematch. The Fans demand it.
I wonder how many people simply ducked this poll to avoid giving fury credit.
What kind of a fan doesn't tip their hat to Tyson, after the performance he put on Saturday? Willing to go out on his shield if necessary.

I usually like to wait a week or so to re-watch the fight. I have it on DVR so could watch it anytime but will still wait until the weekend to do so.
And one punch can absolutely win you the round when very little else happens.
I think I will also watch it again this weekend. :)
One punch does not win a round though, good punch or not, if the other fighter out punched them with clean shots. You need to rewatch the fight, as probably do I, rounds 2 and 4 anyway.
I agree 115-111 is unacceptable no matter how you slice it.

I don't think so. 8-4 is more than a fair scorecard IMO. In rounds where very little happens you are just splitting hairs. Like in round 4 Wilder landed the best punch of the round which was a jab that bloodied Fury's nose and I gave him that round since not much else landed by either fighter. I had Wilder winning round 2, 4, 9 and 12. There was another really close round, I believe the 7th but I shaded that to Fury. If that goes to Wilder then we have a draw. That's why I wasn't all that upset with the draw. What ticks me and most off is the stupid 115-111 card. Now you are just either blind or a complete moron.

I think he's being generous with himself here, but I am definitely going to rewatch the fight and score it again as well.
OTOH he probably knows he near swept him and is trying to sell that rematch. :lol1:

This is boxing in a nutshell. This is a reason why popularity here in the states has been on the decline for years.
True boxing fans will seek the pugilistic sport wherever it lurks.
WAR BOXING!
WAR FURY!
:boxing:
Btw, Fury himself scored the fight 8-4. Exactly how I had it.

The funny thing is that if they had given Fury his win, we would instead be reading arguments questioning Fury's chin etc. That would be fine. There are always people who value knockdowns over points (I may even be one of them).
Yet by the rules of the sport it wasn't even a close fight. Fury was sailing. I keep repeating myself but: When there are fishy scores on the undercard fights it guarantees the same in the main event. It means people are being leaned on to help certain fighters win and the whole show has been compromised.

I think Fury would be happy to fight Wilder again. I just don't know how eager Wilder is going to be. My thought is he has to know Fury is going to be much sharper with a fight like this under his belt and his confidence is going to be at an all-time high. Plus, I'm thinking the fight has to take place in the UK. I don't know if Wilder will take the fight under those conditions. He may surprise me though. Until I hear Wilder say anything it's all guessing I suppose.
I agree, but if Wilder is the warrior he is supposed to be, he takes that fight and thinks nothing of the fact that he may well have to endure another 12 rounds of pain and bloodshed.
Fury knows he lost an opportunity by not sending Wilder out on a stretcher, and may try and close the show early in a rematch.
That's true, but eventually Fury will need to collect the WBC belt to unify.

I've not even seen any real debate over the outcome. That should tell you everything you need to know. Fury is talking about fighting AJ next and I haven't heard a single person say that he has unfinished business with Wilder. He won and he fought his ass off.
