FREDDIE ROACH is confident Deontay Wilder has underestimated Tyson Fury. Legendary trainer Roach will be in Fury's corner after being drafted into his team earlier this month by Fury and trainer Ben Davison. He revealed he did not charge Fury a penny for use of his gym in the build-up to the showdown in LA. Click Here To Read More]
All the pre-fight talk is meaningless. Roach has to back the guy who's corner he will be in. He didn't think Pacquaio would get knocked out cold by Marquez and must have thought that wouldn't happen. Wilder is rightly the clear favourite but Fury is in with a chance.
the excuses and alts will come out after the fight. Wait and see. People hate Wilder and will discredit him no matte what so expect idiotic dialogue afterwards...
How is it that Roach won so many coach of the year awards but can't accurately predict a fight?
On what planet is Fury the bigger puncher. Bigger man, yes, but certainly not a bigger puncher.
Wilder has been outboxed before so I can see him saying Fury would win a decision but a KO win for Fury!
In the early rounds! Makes no sense.
before he became hollywood, his predictions were pretty much on point. after he became hollywood, he started making predictions based on his emotions, so even if he knows the guy he picked will lose, he will pick him to win just because he dislike the other guy. but if roach keeps it 100, he has a lot of knowledge.
If you believe its possible then go bet on it....LOL
I will, no problem.
Fury actually has a higher KO% than Povetkin, Whyte and Parker. Many people consider them to be pretty good punchers. People who think he's feather fisted are just repeating what others day, typical sheep boxing fans. He's knocked guys out and made guys quit on their stool that supposed big punchers couldn't.
Wilder has never been countered properly by a man with a 3 stone weight advantage and has a decent KO%. The only man skilled enough to counter him was a 45 year old Ortiz and he did it once and nearly had Wilder out of there & saved by a cheating ref. Fury will counter Wilder time and time again, not just the once. He doesn't even need to be in Wilder's range to do it because he's much longer than Ortiz was. He can do it while being out of range and making Wilder overreach and Fury will just pick him off.
It'll be a brutal knockout by Fury. Or Fury will eventually trap him on the ropes with his big weight advantage and put his lights out like he did to Cunningham who weighed about the same as Wilder.
Wilder might be tall and has a good punch but once Fury roughs him up against the ropes, he will starch Wilder. Wilder hasn't got enough core strength and weight to get Fury off him if he smothers him.
Wilder has been outboxed by guys with tyrannosaurus rex arms. Wilder eventually caught up pmwith them late.
Fury has long reach so fury will potentially outbox wilder more than wilders ever been outboxed in this fight and the ko won't come this time for wilder.
The only thing D.Wilder has to adjust to is Fury's footwork then it could be lights out for Fury by a right from D.Wilder.
It's possible.
If Wilder is overreaching as he can do, when his right legs ends up in front after throwing a right, he will essentially be falling into the counter and almost doubling the impact. You don't need to be a knockout artist to really hurt someone who can potentially fall right into a shot.
Pacquiao did similar with Marquez. Marquez barely needed any leverage on that shot because Pacquiao did most of the work. It just had to be a solid enough shot for him to jump into and catch him at the right moment of impact.
With Fury's reach advantage, Wilder might end up overreaching more than he ever has before.
Roach isn't stupid. He see's that possibility.

Sure, anything can happen in boxing and fury's a big man with a lot of weight to use as leverage for his punches. But come on...a 1st round ko when ortiz, arreola, and stiverne couldnt even drop him once? Lol.
This is like predicting tim bradley to ko spence in the 1st, makes no sense. Its not even fury's style. An outboxer being overly confident and changing his mindset and approach at the last second to take his opponent out early is how you get killed. How many 1st round kos does fury have? He couldnt even knockout the chinny 40 year old wladmir or flat footed journeyman chisora. He didnt drop his 2 bum ass comeback opponents. If fury charges in there looking for an early night he'll find it: you dont beat a tall devastating puncher like wilder by opening up that early when you yourself dont have a lot of power. He'll just give wilder exactly what he wants and leave himself open like an idiot.
I would like to see Tyson really stepping into punch especially if he has Wilder against the ropes.
I’ve always felt he would try and push Wilder back. Seems like the easiest way to avoid the biggest shots. Don’t give him the space and leverage to take your chin off.
If Fury is stronger which surely he should be he could beat Wilder up inside.
Still think Wilder KO is most likely tho
IMO fury should be on the pound for pound list. He is highly skilled and has a great boxing mind. He should comfortably beat wilder if he doesn't get caught. Wilder should be nowhere near the pound for pound list. I won't be surprised if the match ends like like the lemieux/saunders match where saunders outboxed the **** out of lemieux and made him look like a novice. It's probably a good thing fury didn't fight wilder back in 2015/2016 as fury was far more active at that time and would destroy wilder easier than klitchko as wilder at that time was more sloppier.
Still see Wilder winning by KO
The only way Fury wins this is if he rolls back time becomes the fighter he was 3 years ago and fights a perfect 12 rounds with no mistakes and thats extremely unlikely
Except that Marquez was known as a big puncher in his division.. fury is the fat malignaggi..
He obviously isn't.
He has a higher KO% than Povetkin, Whyte, Parker and others considered to be very decent punchers.
I definitely don't always agree with Roach predictions but hes right about Fury being able to sleep Wilder with that 1-2 on the money.
WAR FURY!
Pillow hands only chance is to keep talking smack and hope Wilder gets affected. Seems like his plan so far...
