I've been aware of the label for a while, but never knew what it meant. To us Brits, it's very strange seeing a man talk so much without making any sense. Where did Wilder pick up this way of speaking? Why does he repeat himself at random? Voodoo ebonics? Country bumpkin? A black redneck? What is this labelled as by other Americans?
:lol1: Believe it or not I ain't got a particular dog in this one - I'm more a fan of Wilder actually, stylistically, and I prefer him to Joshua certainly, but part of me has to be rooting for Fury as a fellow Manc and as an underdog. I'm just hoping he's got enough left to make it a fight worth remembering (for the record I got Wilder by mid rounds KO).
Have a good weekend, man. And get your ass on the Pick 'em next year. Let's see what you're made of...:boxing:
Lol! Ok. I'm probably a 95% picker in boxing because I really have no particular fighter that clouds my judgement at the moment. I'm pretty sure I'd take you fools to school :beerchug:
Country bumpkin is usually used to refer to redneck uneducated white people from the south. I would not use that term to describe him. He has a thick southern accent, but mainly he's just dumb. Watch him closely as he speaks you can see he has no idea what's about to come out of his mouth he is a really, really, really poor speaker. I don't think he's even uneducated per se, he's just not bright.
There are eloquent people who have the same accent as him. Being from the south doesn't mean you're dumb.
Stalin was smart, he only made the pact with the Nazi's,tu push the western countries against each other and they would forget about him, a very smart tactic that worked, the only problem was Germany steamrolled france without losing anything major,Stalin had counted on the fact that the war would last for a longer time then i did and that they would cripple each other army's
Well Stalin did reach out to Britain and France first, but yeah... the Brits distrusted Stalin just as much or possibly more than they distrusted Hitler and dithered and delayed, again possibly kinda hoping Germany and Russia might go to war and take the problem off their hands. It was only when it became apparent to Stalin that no full military pact was forthcoming that he started to respond to German overtures. But then yeah - first priority was to bring the Red Army back up to wartime readiness after the purges of the late 30s had annihilated a large part of the officer corps and to allow the introduction of major new hardware like the T34 en masse.
As to the rest - yeah, absolutely Stalin was expecting a prolonged stalemate in the West with the combatants bleeding each other dry... a situation which could only benefit the Soviet Union or at the very least give it time to prepare for a future war in which it would have every advantage. Germany of course wanted to ensure that it wouldn't have to worry about the threat of an attack from the East whilst it carried out operations in Poland and subsequently in France and the Low Countries. Musta seemed like a win-win. In the event Stalin did buy enough time - by the narrowest of margins, but things certainly didn't go as he'd envisaged.
Wow, Wilder says he wants to get pregnant, and his fans start referring to him as Queen Deontay? Can't make this chit up...
You sound like a ****o f...ot
The winter was a factor, sure, but you managed to imply that the millions of unprepared conscript troops and the massive mobilisation of the civilian population were not the primary reason the Nazis failed to reach their objectives, as planned, before the start of winter. I know the passage of time and geographical seperation makes things seem less real, but just try to imagine 30 million deaths, man... including 12 odd million combat troops. In my world those people deserve a little respect, as do all the service men and women who died stopping the Nazis... it's like you're saying their sacrifices were irrelevant cos the winter stopped the Wehrmarcht anyway.
And of course, hindsight is a wonderful thing, but the at the time of the Molotov pact the Soviets were in literally no state to fight a war and Stalin needed more time to prepare, especially in light of the fact that the British and French (which was where they turned first) were looking in no hurry to enter into a pact with the Soviets. It wasn't a matter of 'trusting' the Nazis (Stalin was a paranoid egomanic and pathologically trusted people only to act in their own self interest anyway) but gambling to buy time.

Your not very smart it seems.not surprising given how emotional you've gotten. There was no contradiction in what I said.
Are you thick , gimp boy , you were getting mad at me for making assumptions now your making assumptions on my emotional state just cause you are to stupid to see your own contradictions even though I pointed it out .
Agreed. Have a good weekend. Hopefully Fury doesn't get hurt to where he can't bounce back.

I have plenty to say about this but I'm short on time. I'll respond later when I get a chance. But, in short, I wasn't just saying that I only am aware of what the US did in the war as I am quite aware of what all nations did. Tyvm
Fine. I don't know how I got drawn into this discussion anyway. I thought this was a fun thread about Wilder's Ancestry. :pat:
See this is exactly what I mean. You say all non-Americans should watch documentaries about the American contribution to the War but I guess you don't feel Americans should learn about other countries' contribution. I would bet that most Americans are almost completely unaware of the role of the other Allied nations.
Well what about the British and the other nations who fought in the War in the Pacific? By your logic they didn't need to get involved in that theatre either! Germany declared war on America first and would likely have joined Japan in attacking the US if the Axis power had grown unchecked. That's what a WORLD war means.

If this was meant for me.....
The movie thing was just a reference to the fact that everyone should at least be able to watch a factual movie or documentary about the US's contributions to the war. Of course, I know all about it because it's taught in every history class in every school in the entire US. On top of that, I've also watched countless docu's. :usaribbon

You know that there's a difference right? I mean, we are an ocean away. The other countries that were involved are connected by land and were in direct danger from the situation. Not that there's one life worth more than another, but there is a difference here and I don't think you have considered that.

I have been in 25 countries, where the f have you been?
The POS thing that they teach in USA schools is not history.
My family also comes from Europe, very different what was lived than the stupid movies you guys make. You are the one who has been Brainwashed.
The fact is that you don't know one f@cking thing about the US. Because if you did you would show it more respect. We're not the worlds police, world's nurse, world's beneficiary, and #1 super power for no reason. We're not a bunch of dummies like wherever the hell you're from has taught you. YOU are brainwashed. Trust me. Trust the Klitschko's.
And the movies I was referring to is more documentary than just for entertainment and most of them aren't even made by Americans you twit.
So go :fu2: yourself coming at me like that you pr@ck
You should do more research. Your brainwashing has overtaken your common sense. You can't rewrite history now buddy.

Been what I've been trying to stress in most of my posts on this thread. The War was a truly international effort and shouldn't be about which country did more or less or why. I'm afraid I'm cynical of the motives of all governments and systems of political power, but the sacrifices of the men and women of all nations who made victory possible should never be forgotten.

That is understandable but I think many people outside the US have the impression that it is especially Americans that ignore the role other nations played in the conflict. Especially if going by the output of Hollywood and suchlike. So we tend to get our backs up quickly as well.

I find that really refreshing and I can appreciate that.
Most Americans have a lot of pride but we are really open to other countries and cultures. As for myself, I'm not bias against anyone really other than terrorists now that the Nazi regime is over of course.
But I won't have people trying to rewrite history to down play our role in WW2 when we didn't even have to get involved in the European conflict.
