LENNOX LEWIS believes Tyson Fury would complete one of the greatest comebacks in heavyweight history if he beats Deontay Wilder. It is three years to the day that Fury upset Wladimir Klitschko to win the WBA, IBF, IBO and WBO heavyweight titles. But the British star has fought just twice since against low-level opposition after a backdate two-year doping ban, mental health problems and booze binges. Click Here To Read More]

I like Wilder as a fighter, hes entertaining, but I don't see why people try and push him so hard as a great fighter. He isn't. Beating Fury would be the single great thing he would have done and Fury is going to walk through him. Anyone favoring Wilder is ludicrous.
Wow somebody with boxing intelligence here. Yeah if Wilder could beat Fury I might fall into all the hype. But beating 1 legitimate heavyweight in 40 fights does not make me a believer.

Deontay.might not be perfect but he's 6ft 7, is fast and hits like a mule ki cks and is hard to beat. Most of his opponents weren't great so when he stepped up people thought he'd lose but he didnt. ortiz was touted as serious opponent and wilder was favourite. So he's better than many think he is.
For nowadays he's a very good fighter.
Favouring wilder isn't ludivrous. Being able to punch hard can't be und erestimated.
Don't try downplay fury s win If he wins
It might well come down to stamina. Fury will most likely struggle in the latter stages, given what he’s done to his body. Reflexes, foot speed and punch resistance will all be diminished if Fury gasses and I imagine Wilder will be holding his feet throughout most of the fight and be the fresher of the two.
fair point
but Wilder will miss a TON of punches, so he could also struggle down the stretch
If it goes to UD no way Wilder wins it. His only chance is to KO Fury
See, I'm not sure if this is true. Fury doesn't land many punches, and didn't land many vs Wlad either. Dude landed less than 90 punches that fight but won because he didn't let Wlad get his offense off. Wilder can steal rounds from him if he throws, but he like Fury is selective with his shots as well. We may getting some very dull rounds where like three or four combined punches land. And if Wilder is to get a KD or two? Definitely can see him winning a decision in a slow paced fight where not much is thrown.
It wouldn't be that big a comeback unless he beats Joshua also. Wilder is just a severely overrated bum beater. So I don't take to much stock in him beating a novice like wilder.

Wilder is at best no2 in the world but maybe just top 5 his boxrec is junk and its just people giving him the benefit of the doubt with eye test.
He's ducked anyone we could measure him against and when asked why he did this he said you only want me to fight them so you can compare me with Joshua .... well d'oh .. yes.
Joshua on the other hand hasn't shirked that comparison.
If ex coke head Fury coming off two poor performances schools him its going to be tough to argue Wilder is top 5.
Wilder is no1 or 2 in the world. It would be a great win for fury. It would be a great win for josh. It would be greater for fury.
Wilder is a bum beater but Fury has the ****tier resume. Go figure.
The lineal Heavyweight Champion has a worse resume? :pat:
Where do these idiots crawl out of?
Err.. Fury is 30 yo, was out of the ring for just two and a half years and already had two "fights". This would be a big win (for either) but a "historic comeback"? Bullsiht.
Fury has no title defenses the only significant thing is he would have won all the belts but not at the same time.
Fury is a much better boxer vs one of the worst so it's not a big historical win despite what Lewis says. It's not really historical because Klitschko is better then Wilder and as stated Fury has no title defenses this is important because it lowers his overall standings as much as Wilders lack of substance on his resume . The fight really isn't historical outside two undefeated guys over 6'6 in a title fight .

It could be made into film. It is a great win. Historic as lennox accepts.
Is born weighing 1lb or so. Grows up freakishly tall. Wins lineal. Becomes depressed. Takes coke, drinks 100 pints a week, eats pizza, kebabs. Tries make a comeback when he hears deontay say he's finished now and as AJ won't step up to plate, fury steps in. After running 100 metres is so out of breath.
It's got rocky, raging bill written all over it
It would be a great comeback. Historic seems a bit strong of a term to describe it, but it depends how you look at it.
The only reason it would bother me if Fury wins is that we would have to see it twice with the rematch clause. That said, if Fury wins, I hope he totally dominates so Wilder forgets about the clause.
I'll stand by my prediction though, and pick Wilder by mid to late KO.
Bronze not gold. That's nothing to be proud of like Fury said. Wilder is not nearly as good and all powerful as everybody thinks he is. To me he beat a guy who was over hyped and paded his record with bums and was nearly knocked out by the first real ranked contender he ever fought in Ortiz. Joshua is the real champ with more belts not wilder

It would be the greatest comeback win of all time. Fury coming back after 3 years out and abusing himself and only after 2 fights against nobodies. Context!
Josh would give anything to beat wilder so why wouldn't it be a great, great win?
Wilder is an Olympian something fury isnt

I picked him to win that fight
his firepower is real, I thought he would catch Ortiz eventually
Fury is a different ballgame, he will give Wilder fits
a lot of people are sleeping on the gypsy king

Fury probably wins. The one time wilder didn't fight a bum he was nearly knocked out by Ortiz. Fury is taller and a better boxer. Wilder winning would surprise me. Fury winning would not. Wilder beating Ortiz surprised me
