In college I bartenders at a place that got most of the big fights but it was worth it to them. They packed the house and charged $15 just to get in. By the time the undercards were over a lot of people were on their second meals and 4-5 drinks in on average.
I believe they paid 2-3k per fight to show it.
I came home with some big tips those nights.
An anecdote, from Steve ****ing Kim, where two folks he knows states that $8000 is the number to host a boxing PPV, with no range or variation given for venue size, makes you look stupid for citing it, lolsteve Kim is much more qualified than your invented calculations. Your idiotic validations include calling in more “kitchen” help for an extra 10-20 customers. U really just make it up as u go u should be embarrassed.
Steve Kim at least has a sources. He has another story where he interviews the guy that actually sells them to the bar and he said that it doesn’t by occupancy.
Remember you’re the same idiot who thought that spence’s promotional company got a piece of foreign tv rights when anyone who knows anything about Al Haymon knows that he just pays his promoters a flat fee. And that Spence’s purse is made with the foreign tv money already factored in. That’s why everyone laughs at you here.
stop. You are just making shiet up. It’s not 35-70 people to cover and it’s not 1000-2000 per event. It’s more than that.
It goes by the seating occupancy established by the fire code. The note seating you have the more you pay.
Here is just one example:

Again, this assessment is coming from secondhand information; if it's inaccurate, blame the source. (Wish I had the link at hand, tbh. The article came about, I believe, in either the run-up to Mayweather-Pacquiao or Mayweather-Alvarez, when the talk of piracy usually reaches a fever pitch)
If $2000 is wildly off, put forward a price. Assuming a 250-seat venue, what would be a better range?
did you try here?

No I didn’t. Thanks for this. I got desperate and bought the fight last night. Hope it’s good.
It depends on the venue because the Lounge I used to DJ at used to be charged PER TV for the fights (and there were about 20 TVs in the place) and most of the time they'd end up carrying the UFC's instead because it had bigger gatherings and the Cable company threw the Lounge a discounted rate to host each one for the year. That's usually why Bars will charge $15-20 at the door to cover the overhead for ordering the fight IF it's not a HUGE fight where the bar would more than make up for the cost.
Most bars in my area only show UFC these days but saw one with a DAZN / Canelo poster.
It is not about "The Sport Of Boxing" itself it is about CERTAIN FIGHTERS! Bars will gladly pay whatever to show something that Includes Mayweather because it will generate $$$ for the Bar but no they're not going to Pay whatever Fees just for some Random Boxing Match in which most of their customers don't have a clue who the fighters are. In Combat Sports if McGregor or Mayweather are not attached to it I doubt most of these Bars are even interested
Depending on the venue and the fight, I've read $1000-$2000 being the rate to host closed circuit at establishments.
If you're a bar looking for traffic, at $10 a head, drawing 100-200 folks covers the fee, plus folks will eat/drink too (likely lowering the cost to cover the fee drastically; assume each person spends an extra $20, and you're at 35-70 folks needed to cover).
Now, why isn't it a universal thing for establishments? Likely costs.
Between the closed circuit PPV feed, the staff/extra staff brought in for the night, the food/liquor costs, extra cleanup, etc, most places basically have three hours to get folks to turn out and sell enough drinks/food to not only cover the costs, but make enough money to warrant the costs.
If you're a bar that gets by on the 10-20 people coming through your place, fronting the money and needing 50 people to cover doesn't make much sense.stop. You are just making shiet up. It’s not 35-70 people to cover and it’s not 1000-2000 per event. It’s more than that.

An absurd amount. I live in Houston and I feel bad for the bars that show PPV fights. Most of them are busts except for the big fights. Sad sight to see a bar host a PPV and only about 15 people came for the fight.
Yeah this is right. Back when Tyson was on the tail end of his run the bars were being charged 10K to show his final fights.
Thats why most of the sports bars would show a Tyson fight because he would bring in the money into the bars literally.
Man I dont wanna sound like a snitch, but I used to work for this company that went to businesses kind of like a secret shopper and we'd get paid bonuses if we caught bars showing the fights without paying the 10K back then when everyone had a black box.
I was still in college and thought hey I need the money so they had us go into like 3 different bars and confirm who was showing the fights and who was not and if they didn't pay the official 10K to show it they got fined. Word is it was funded by like Don King Productions or whoever threw the fight thats how much money Don King was making in his prime yo. I believe it. I remember my tia's restaurant got nailed for showing a regular HBO fight years ago without paying the extra fee.

Got damn. That’s insane! No wonder there are so few places around me showing the fight. It can be even more. Depends on the seating capacity. Steve Kim had an article on this on maxboxing years ago. It can cost some over 10k to show. UFC is much cheaper and that is why it is in more bars. Pretty dumb of boxing IMO
I remember a article years back on how the UFC was under cutting how much they charge bars compared to boxing. Like Man Down said it was like 4 to 5 grand for boxing.
Does anyone know how much it would cost a bar or restaurant to show Fury vs Wilder? I know it’s based on the occupany limits but does anyone know the exact formula for determining the price? I’m trying to figure out why hardly any of the bars in my neighborhood have been showing fights anymore.
It’s costs something like $3-5 grand
