Very concerning admission from Tyson Fury’s dad yet not surprising. We all know Tyson is a shell of what he used to be but his father admitted he isn’t ready for the Wilder fight. John would have preferred a few more fights with guys like Bellew, Whyte and even a Chicora trilogy as Chisora is coming of his best career win yet.
John admitted that Tyson is around 50% and has not been looking his best in sparring and his endurance still needs much improving. Tyson himself said he was struggling at big bear due to the altitude and Abel Sanchez worryingly said he was able to go 12 rounds in sparring a "couple" of times and looked “OK”. Does that sound like a elite fighter who should be fighting for a world title?
The fact that he’s struggling to go 12 rounds in sparing and only looking “OK” proves his fitness isn’t gonna hold up.. He lost so much weight he’ll be drained and in the later rounds and I expect him to gas out badly.
I don't give a shít about who's to blame at the end of the day, I'm a boxing fan I want to see the fight, that's what we all want.
It can be fun to speculate about negotiations and all that but that will never take precedence over wanting to see that actual fight. I hope everybody signs every contract and we see the best fight the best.
Let's be hopeful then that the contract is signed.
This is the second improved contract for a guy that claimed it's not about the money but legacy.
Am sure that part has been forgotten so soon.
Forget the BS, you never really want to see the fight. You enjoys pushing blames thinking you are scoring points.
If truly you want the fights, you should e advocating for wilder to sign the contract on his table not all this rigmarolling and romancing the truth.

Why do people think he ducked Whyte but happy to take on fury? No brainer.
Because at the moment whyte is greater than Fury in every ranking and has done more in last 3 yrs.
So that's cherry picking the rehab man.
Lol you've got to be kidding me.. It's a problem to every boxing fan that wants to see great fights and it'd be a problem for their legacies. Can you honestly say you wouldn't mind if they fight in their 40s instead of in their 30s? LOL

Big bragger Fury getting his excuse ready in case his little baby boy loses. Tyson is supposed to be this miracle man and a born fighter who is the best fighter in boxing history according to the self named Gypsy king himself. Tyson says he is ready and twice as good as when he beat Wlad so Wilder should be easy work. Enough with the excuses for losing in advance.
This will be a cherry pick gone wrong possibly for wilder.
Tyson has to boast about how great shape he's in, he has to show confidence and not show vulnerabikitues. Tyson said he acted confident to wla d also even though he had cold, otherwise wla d might have gained confidence from Tyson negatuvity

How is that a problem to you if he wait till hez 45?
Hez the unified champ. He does things at his own time. Wilder should have worked harder to be in that position.

You know....there is a concept of a fighter who is always ready to fight... Thats part of what makes a fighter great. And if Fury fights well and loses as part of his comeback, it will not harm him.
When did it become par for the course that a fighter has to be 100%? Attrition is part of the fight game, whether it is a guy who gets a bad cut and targeted over the cut... or a fighter pulling what he has together on fight night, even if he is not at his best. Fury feels he is ready and that is good enough for me.
chance? the money came! 50-50 split on US ppv with a rematch clause for a guy who is clearly out of sorts and may never get back to the top level. he could easily lose to a fringe contender and not to mention he was fighting on undercards with hardly any fanfare. they know they are being cherry picked but sometimes the cherries can and do win so you gotta hope for some cherry magic
Yep, totally agree.
There's been times when Tyson, Davison and Warren have said the same as John.
From the point he has come from, I do think it has come too soon into his return. They ideally wanted more time/fights to get into fighting shape, but I guess the chance came along so they took it with both hands.

AJ called Fury out right after he KO'd Wlad. Fury was still inactive and walking around at nearly 400lbs. Wilder didn't ask for the fight Fury did. Wilder tried to fight Fury before and after Fury beat Wlad and I won't even mention him trying make that AJ fight. Wilder has no concern over fighting either AJ or Fury. He is confident that he KOs both guys. When AJ finally feels he is in the best position to beat Wilder and makes that fight and gets KO'd I'm sure you guys will have some excuse as to why he loss!
Let's wait till then and see who get KTFO.
Where are ya'll getting this Wilder needed the fight nonsense from? Did you just start watching boxing after this fight was made? Fury feels he needs this fight. That is why he pursued it as he did. AJ was the one who called Fury out of retirement.
wilder needs to fight someone who at least used to be good and has a name. hes too scared to fight top contenders like whyte so he found the guy that used to be good and beat klitshko and thats how the fight will be marketed to the drooling fans who dont pay attention. fury himself said he didnt want to take the fight but wilder made him a mind bobbling offer of a 50-50 split with a rematch clause. thats a man who wants that cherry!

AJ won't stoop so low to fight a man less than 50% ready to fight. That's robbing the fans and stealing from them
John just confirmed the reason wilder needed this fight so quick.
