Despite being KOd by Usyk, that may have been the finest display of boxing Bellew has ever unleashed - at least according to Haye himself who said "that's the best Tony Bellew I've ever seen!"
Bellew was ahead with 2 of the official judges and one judge had it even. So just throwing a poll out there to check if the general consensus agrees with the judges? Was Bellew indeed outboxing Usyk and winning the fight before he got stopped in the 8th round?
That and the dact I see nobody giving Usyk credit for the constant pressure which contributed to Bellew tiring earlier than he wanted. Do dudes here box at all? They act as if movement and trying to keep someone off of you will do nothing at all to stamina
“He gassed” seems to be a very popular excuse on here. It’s like people don’t realize gassing someone is a strategy.
Ortiz would have won if he didn’t gas
Bellew would have won if he didn’t gas
Damn, I knew going into both fights that Wilder/Usyk was going to gas their opponents. It’s a strategy.
Deontay Wilder had a much harder fight against Luis Ortiz but he's praised for that win as if it was against the elite of the elite ... but Bellew has actually accomplished something in the sport whereas Ortiz has done absolutely fuck all.
You're right though, sometimes fans are biased towards "their" fighter and they need to take a step back to gain a little perspective. In a lot of ways the Bellew Usyk fight was like McGregor/Mayweather, those first 3 rds surprised a lot of people and more credit was given than was perhaps deserved. Check the posts for that fight, people were waxing lyrical about McGregor outboxing Mayweather early and McGregor is a total bum in boxing :) I don't mind, let fans enjoy the events
yes but ortiz was christened with the amazing slick skilled boxer label so a win over him even though he was old, out of shape, off the peds, and with a crap resume is worth a lot more than any win basically in boxing
You came at me with some weirdo remark, what I'm I supposed to think when you got a hundred weird ass takes. My bad doe.
LOL all Bellew threw was 1 punch at a time. Like I legit got no clue what fight you watched Saturday at this point. I'm thinking maybe you don't know who Usyk or Bellew actually are based on your take.
LOL....Nah, I meant usyk has one speed, he takes his time & follows his opponent.
I saw Bellew landing more punches with the right hand upstairs & down stairs & moving. Every time I seen him go to the ropes he was letting usyk have success. I think the few punches that landed on Bellew was affecting Bellew & usyk got the stoppage. That's it. Peace.
LOL at easy win. It wasn't easy for him to win the rounds he did win. He was courting danger the whole way as Usyk was timing him & adapting before he turned it on.
And he was on the ropes cuz he gassed out doing what he did to keep a 1st gear Usyk at bay for 3 rounds.
LMFAO easy win. You gotta be a UK guy. Some of you UK guys need to get used to having so many world class fighters these days so you aren't so committed to the guys who are outclassed in fights. If Bellew was some random guy from some random non-UK country most of you guys saying Bellew was so good in this fight woulda just been like "eh he gave Usyk a lil trouble early, but couldn't hang/wasn't THAT good" or similar type thoughts.

Bellew was up by one before the stoppage. You are on Triple L mode....
i agree with you. bellew is better than usyk. these people don't want to see the truth even though its right in front of their faces
Somebody is blind for sure. His name is Bobby Shaw. This board we are on called Boxing Scene scored the fight and had Usyk ahead at the time of the stoppage and they are fair, not blind.

Quit using Bellew being weight drained as an excuse because it's BS. Bellew didn't say anything about being drained. He said he was at his best and did his best and lost to a better fighter with no excuses. There is no weight limit for heavyweights and Bellew weighed 210 pounds for Haye full of food and water and probably weighed the same 210 pounds for Haye on fight night. I am sure Bellew was about 210 pounds on fight night for Usyk also but the difference was he was fighting a much better fighter in his late prime. The idea that once a boxer fights at a certain weight they can never again fight well below that weight is a stupid and false belief. What about Hatton who time after time gained 40 or more pounds between fights and time after time returned to fight at 140 and fight well. Bellew used to fight at 175 FFS. Now all of a sudden he is drained at cruiserweight? GTFOH!
No what i'm telling you is that once again you are too dumb to read and comprehend what was actually said. Not the first time i've seen it happen with you so i'll stop responding as you're a waste of time. Take it easy bud.
I answered you & you feel dumb now, I understand.
I saw Bellew getting tired before he was getting hit seriously.
Show me where I said that? I said he was only in 1st gear for the 1st 3 rounds.
Man some of you mfers can't debate a mfing thing without trying to put words in other people's mouths.
LMFAO at Bellew being a better boxer. Idk wtf you watched but I think you missed the fight Saturday.
I didn't say YOU said it I said it.
Man some of you mfers can't understand & want something put in ya mouth.
Yes better boxer, head movement foot work more than one punch.
usyk is being overrated. His best punch looks like the left hand, he is slow, he is flat-footed & can be hit. Wait till he fights someone that can punch. Bellew made it harder than it should of been & if he had a good corner then they would of told him that.
You would need to be blind to have Usyk leading. He was getting outscored. Bellew's mistake was going down to cruiserweight from heavyweight. I don't know anyone who became a heavyweight then decided to go down who was a success. From Roy Jones, Chris Byrd do your own research. Bellew said he became tired and that's what always happens. You tire fast and have no punch resistance.

Even in the lower weights returning to your weight class after stepping up very rarely does well at least from what I can remember watching over the years.
Yes, Bellew fought very well but I still find it impossible to give him more than 3 rounds. I think most of those who had Bellew ahead were Englishmen who tend to give their own boxers much more credit than they deserve.

So what your telling me is that your one of those dumb asses that never boxed cuz Bellew was the one who was landing more punches throughout the fight not just movement. Got it.

I thought Usyk also did it very well with Gassiev, who has a great tank/big bear tank and still Usyk forced him to his fight and gassed him.
I thought he was moving sh^tter & sh^tter as the fight was going on. Dude was slowing down after those first 3 rounds when he put everything into avoiding Usyk & trying to land a bomb.
The dude was f#cking tired & not moving as well as he was hence the ropes. If not for the ropes he'd probably have ran into something sooner being more aggressive with Usyk.
Usyk was in 1st gear for half the fight doe. I don't think you are appreciating that reality. And then when Bellew was gassing out & tired he turned it on & didn't lose a round on my card from then on & then he KTFO of Bellew.
And if Usyk is "nothing special" that must mean you think Bellew is a f#cking piece of sh^t bum.
The dude got tired cuz whenever he stayed on the ropes usyk hit him once or twice. usyk hits hard & Bellew took at least one or 2 on the ropes everytime which he could of avoided.
usyk has only one gear....LOL
What I saw is that Bellew is a better boxer than usyk & usyk hits harder than Bellew & the puncher won. They did not impress me, that is all.
i thought about 4-3 either way going into the 8th. Hardly matters though, Bellew was never going to win another second of the fight by that point.
He used everything he had just to match Usyk's first gear.
This is a fair assessment. Bellew had some success, but I didn't get the feel that he was actually gonna win the fight...usyk started slow.
