Why is it that very few boxing media is saying anything. I believe this was something put out by haymond uk people just to mess with hearns.
Wheres wbc wba ibf, imdazed, scipio9000, and fanofreason
The news came as a blow and I feel we have been unfairly treated, but there are meetings already set up with other TV channels. Next season, I am very confident that my fighters will have a big television platform to perform on,” said 33-year-old Manchester legend Hatton.
Joyce is still with Haye.
Interview of former haymon sports exec marc watson on live sports in uk
ask him if he can ever see the ‘disruptors’ putting down numbers akin to those paid by BT or Sky, or if their ambitions are simply overhyped and they must follow different models.
“My guess as to what is happening is that these companies are testing the water in sport to see what impact sport can have on their core businesses,” notes Watson. “You see that with Amazon buying tennis rights recently and they’ve got a small NFL package in the US.
“Nobody’s made a big move yet and I’m not sure whether they will or not. My guess is that what’s important to them is that their customers have access to content, and if they have that on a reasonable basis then I’m not sure whether they’ll feel obliged to spend billions on premium live sports content.
He insists that “most of the value” can still be derived by monetising the majority of customers who still consume live sport via a cable or satellite service in most markets around the world. But he expects those viewing habits to continue to change.
"ITV could make British boxing a feature of terrestrial TV, showing up to 20 fights a year if chiefs agree new deal"
Headline from two years ago. If this article is correct itv would be making a real investment in boxing.
Let's say 10 to 15 USA shows and 5 uk shows a year
I think your saying the same thing as ktfo king. In that it's up to the network to determine how much boxing is pushed. In that case your 100 correct. Uktv gave david haye 3 years with 5 fights a year. If haymon wanted to make a real dent in the uk market how many fights would he need a year..... definitely more than 5
It's not even up to the network in this case... ITV simply doesn't have the means to pursue a huge commitment of boxing for there even to be a choice in the matter; not with all their other commitments (such as a growing TV production arm).
If Haymon can get some screen time on ITV then great (unless they try and put it behind the horrendous ITV PPV experiment) but it's not something that could possibly make waves to attract a new roster of fighters.
Eddie Hearn invented Boxing let some of you guys tell it... :nonono: My Goodness! :lol1:
Hearn spend more time talking about and get asked about PBC fighters more than his own fighters. I'm sure Tank, Charlo and Mikey Garcia appreciate the Free Promotion :dunno:
But this has NOTHING to do with Hearn I'm sure because it has been talked about before even before DAZN US Started. If you're able to make extra money for your Product in a market that loves boxing far more than Americans do, why wouldn't you do it? Because of Eddie? :lol1: but yet it is OK for Eddie to try and come to America and build up his Brand? Come On People!
ITV is a ****e environment to create a star.
The only way you're making somebody a star in the UK is with a dedicated Sports channel and of that there is only really Sky and BT; both of which have agreements with Hearn and Warren respectively.
Channel5 is another channel that shows boxing in the UK and that's more akin to ITV in the sense that it is not a sports channel, it shows everything and thus the interest in fights on Channel 5 are only with the hardcore fans.
Same is the case with ITV boxing with their attempts at PPV with Jr..

Itv is the perfect environment to create a star. Haymon has people in the uk to get fighters and if he's broadcasting guys in the USA that could act as prep until his uk roster is set

They are one of the five main national free channel over here. They are meant to be free but they have a PPV for boxing. Which isn’t quite popular with the masses here, due to the fact that they don’t have any sort of high profile boxers. I believe Eubank jr is the only and recent boxer who fought on their PPV platform. Back in the 90s they use to be big players in boxing, until sky sports came over.

Sorry man I was abrupt. Got a skinful of drink in me. Love your threads, always good questions. Better discussions thant 98% of the forum has to offer.
No worrys mate were all boxing fans here
Ashfaq went to Hearn
Hutchinson went to Warren
Joyce went to Haymon
Those were his signings, don't speak about **** you don't know about
Joyce is still with Haye.
Isn't itv one of the major channels over there

I can speak about whatever I choose to speak about! Secondly the reason I make forums is to inquire about things that go on in the sport of boxing.
Michael page and joe joyce still work with ringstar. I'm not aware of they're full roster but I appreciate u informing me on who left

It is a big network, one of the top 3 channels in the UK. But its based on advertisement. Boxing isn't this huge sport in the UK that Americans think it is. They couldn't go in a prime time spot and maximise revenue.
Same situation in America yet we have pbc
That's not true at all
Ashfaq went to Hearn
Hutchinson went to Warren
Joyce went to Haymon

Itv and haymon have been in talks for at least 3 years now. Do you think haymon will settle for a small tv rights fee. If so he probably could have gotten it years ago!!!!
He was in talks three years ago? Great, I'm sure he was in talks with a lot of different networks for the past three years.
How much do you expect ITV to invest in boxing when they don't have any of the big names in the UK? This isn't FOX and PBC where PBC has the deepest stable in the game and FOX needed to replace the UFC content.
UK boxing market once again isn't that great.
WBN understands Haye has had communications with Channel 5, which could see the likes of Joe Joyce and Willy Hutchison eventually featuring on the station in the future.
As WBN exclusively revealed last week, Haye outbid Frank Warren massively to land the mandatory British cruiserweight title clash between Matty Askin and Stephen Simmons on March 17.
So far, Haye’s stable – which includes Joyce, Hutchison and former MMA star Michael Page – has been showcased on freeview and satellite’s Dave Channel, with another fight night scheduled to air on UK TV next month.
Having signed a three-year deal with UK TV in the summer of 2017, it’s not yet clear how the deal will work or whether it would be similar to that of Spike and Channel 5 who have shared coverage in the past.
The deal will be a huge one for Haye in order to give his fighters exposure on one of only five terrestrial channels, with Heavyweight hope Joyce leading the charge to title fights in 2018.
Joyce is due to feature on the February 16 card before then moving on to the Tony Bellew v Haye rematch undercard on Sky Box Office – with Channel 5 having the potential to screen a British championship attempt for the ‘Juggernaut’ later in the year should the deal get across the line.
Whilst British boxing has struggled to secure big dates on the likes of the BBC, ITV (ITV 4 / Box Office) and Channel 5 have always been open to broadcasting with some promoters and Haye s could soon*become the latest to be given a platform to display the obvious talent in his stable.
That's old and Haye failed. All of his and Shaefers guys that they signed left.
ITV being bigger means exactly what? Is ITV going to invest in boxing how FOX or ESPN are investing in boxing? No, that is the point. Sky and BT Sports are the ones that invest in boxing the most, and even still, not nearly enough to put on decent fights on Non-PPVs.
