On Chris mannix podcast Lou dibella talks about ppv and how it will change in the future! Lou said that haymon will leverage dazn and his fighters to no longer have to split the price 50 50 with showtime or fox!!! Dibella stated that if this is the case ppvs would cost less and fighters would make more money.....
On the very same day as this podcast went out Espinoza posted this on twitter
"Self-appointed "experts" opining about the U.S. PPV market when they have never been meaningfully involved in a single U.S. PPV event..."

Any economy runs on the elasticity of the price. If you price something at $100 and get 2 people to buy it, it's more profitable than pricing something at $10 and having 7 people buy it. It's about where the most profit is generated.
I understand this concept, but this is not how the American Economy works with entertainment spending from a consumer standpoint. In general, yes. Apply a demographic and " yes " becomes maybe.
I know people who subscribed, did the free month and cancelled. Everything Hearn has put on has been garbage. His November card is garbage as well. Munguia and GB's stable isn't big enough for casuals to subscribe. What DAZN needs is for people to subscribe and stay, instead of just subscribing for a free month on Canelo fights and cancelling right after. DAZN has nothing to offer if there isn't a fight on. A lot of people are going to be only subscribing when there's a big fight and cancelling after till the next one. AS for Canelo, DAZN needs to have over 3 million paying subscribers to match Canelo's purse, don't really see that happening.I have enjoyed it.
Vargas-Dulorme and Beterbiev-Johson was a lit card. The WBSS bantams were good too. Rodriguez-Maloney was on point and I enjoyed Johusa vs Povetkin. That is when I started my subscription. I can't wait for Usyk Bellew. Thats gonna be fireworks
That's a damn shame.
How cool would it be to have a game with all the greats? Tyson, Oscar, Pac, Floyd, Canelo, Chavez, Whitaker, Morrison, Holyfield, Tito, Duran, Lennox, Gatti, etc. Would be some epic **** even I would try and play.
I remember Mike Tyson's punch out back in the day.
The stars and boxings popularity would have to drive sales not the other way around.
Seen Oscar on ESPN's Deportes show "A Los Golpes" & dude said that IF a fight such as Mayweather Vs. Alvarez II would hypothetically happen... That it would be on PPV.
That's not how the American economy works. If you want the casual observer to buy, you have to have a reasonably low price.

Exactly! Boxing does just a Piss Poor Job at trying to reach them because they don't know where to go to reach them. ZERO Presence in the Gaming World where that Demo is the most like you said, yet Boxing has done absolutely NOTHING to reach it! While a Video Game for: NFL, NBA, MLB, FIFA, UFC, WWE...comes out YEARLY! Boxing doesn't have one at all and yet they wonder why they're unable to reach that Demo :dunno:

Capturing that audience right now? I only see Ryan Garcia on the horizon.
He can bring out the younger crowd, barely. That's it.
My old job two years ago had a few young 18 year old cats doing the intern thing.
Not one gave a damn about boxing. They didn't even care about football or baseball.
They're into fortnite/gaming and other random **** online and social media.
Young kids just aren't feeling boxing right now.

video games are most popular among young adults. Six-in-ten Americans ages 18 to 29 and 53% of those ages 30 to 49 say they play video games often or sometimes, compared with smaller shares in older age groups. The survey counts video games played on a computer, TV, game console or portable device, such as a mobile phone.

DiBella also broke down the CHALLENGES that DAZN faces and once again has a valid point
The Challenge they have at being a Stand Alone APP with no Network to Back it like ESPN is getting the WORD OUT! Also talked about how Boxing Demographic is OLDER which are FACTS! Boxing don't have that younger Demographic that would rush to something like DAZN just yet. ALL OF BOXING (PBC, Top Rank, Matchroom, GBP) have failed at capturing that so important CASUAL 18-29 Demographic. You wanna know who has that Demographic? UFC! Stuff like KSI vs Logan Paul! That is the only damn time I've seen that Younger Demo give a damn about boxing was for their fight which is SAD actually!
Also broke down brilliantly as far as how streaming services work in the US and why PPV is not dead yet because again with Boxing Demo being OLDER, majority of boxing fans are still viewing boxing the TRADITIONAL WAY which is Cable Boxes/Satellite TV Boxes. Also when the Full Transition to Streaming does happen, all these Sports Leagues (NFL, NBA, UFC) will (or Already Have) their OWN APPS that they will stream Content LIVE from that or on their Official Websites while always Maintaining Network Deals or in the future OTT Deals will be needed

So Haymons move to put on 3 ppvs is only so dazn cant take them from showtime
Three PPVs in a row was more of a quirk than a deliberate plan. Pacquiao's US return was going to be on PPV no matter what. He ended up signing with PBC, so it became a PBC PPV, but Pac's next fight was going to be on PPV regardless of what PBC was up to.
Spence vs Garcia was going to be on PPV in December until the Fury fight came into the picture. Fury being willing to fight Wilder this soon was unexpected and there was no way to pay Fury what he wanted without going on PPV.
So that's why you ended up with three PBC PPVs. Had nothing to do with Canelo going to DAZN or anything like that.
PPVs are priced at the price that will generate the most revenue. Canelo vs GGG 2 was $85 in HD because the promoters, PPV providers, distributors, etc crunched the numbers and figured out that was the most profitable price point.
If $50 would generate so many more buys that it would be more profitable than $85, then the PPV would have been priced at $50.
What the industry has figured out is that due to piracy, PPV is a waste of time unless you have a real megafight, and if you have a real megafight, you can jack up the price because people are throwing big parties. When 20 people are coming to your house, $100 PPV is only $5 per person.
So Haymons move to put on 3 ppvs is only so dazn cant take them from showtime
I dont think Haymon is a deer in
headlights in this situation.
That's not how the American economy works. If you want the casual observer to buy, you have to have a reasonably low price.
That's not how money works. The goal is the most amount of dollars, not the most amount of buyers. If they wanted the most buyers, they'd charge $1. The price they choose is determined by what will result in the most dollars.

The price of PPV is too much in America. If they half that price then they would sell more to more audience.

clearly the price of PPV needs to drop to increase viewership and keep PPV alive because paying $10 a month to see atleast 1 title fight every week, the WBSS, and Bellator is not exactly a bad thing.

Agreed I dont usually listen to mannix he comes across as narrow minded. But yeah I think the point of this thread is being a little diluted. We as hardcore boxing fans should look at the price of the ppvs before we get angry about all of the new ones
Ok, what's the price of the one in 3 weeks?

Funny that you say that, I stopped paying for PPV after Hamed as well. Piracy is just too easy now.
But piracy isn't worth it to most people if you're organizing a big fight party. Which is why the price of PPV went from $50 to $100 in such a short span of time. For those pirating, the price is irrelevant and for those putting a fight party together, the difference between 50 and 100 really doesn't matter.
So then what it comes down to is, is the fight big enough to justify a party? And that's why you've seen so few US PPVs. Yes, the price went up, but the number of PPVs went way down. Instead of 10 $60 PPVs, now you have 2 $90 PPVs.
That's it right there!
Have u listened to chris mannix and Lou dibellas interview? I think it's worth a listen on the issue of ppv. I believe pbc ppvs will be around 30-50 dollars
That's swingable... Fucc it.
