maybe I remember it being worse than it was, I never rewatched it lol
He seemed to be able to fight him in round 1, that's why I'm not convinced he suddenly couldn't land shots due to Roy's speed. Ruiz is also an incredibly crafty veteran that won lots of fights he should've gone on to lose, I don't for a moment believe he forgot how to cut off the ring.
I need to look at the punch stats round by round, both threw over 400 punches but I'm not sure when Ruiz threw them specifically.
jones was very awkward in addition to being fast. it's simplifying, but fast and awkward beats awkward. ruiz wasn't a huge HW, huge puncher, didn't impose his size, didn't hit harder, didn't make up for much of anything. it's much less of an advantage against an unorthodox stylist to be awkward yourself. like a lot of jones fights, he didnd't do much, but the other guy didn't do **** :lol1:
meh. possible that he phoned it in, but i doubt it. he'd never fought anybody that fast. ruiz was an extrmely awkward fighter. it was no surprise to me that he had issues with jones' speed

I wonder how much Ruiz was paid to only fight back in the first round

Much of the anger flowed from Ruiz. He complained bitterly about what he felt was a lack of effort from Jones to promote the match. Indeed, Jones had little motivation to do so, since most of his cash would come from a $10 million guaranteed purse, in addition to money generated from pay-per-view sales.

this is from the new york times.
jones vs ruiz sold over 600k ppvs.
some sources say jone's purse was as high as 20 million. i don't believe that, but i do believe he had a 10 million guarantee and an upside.I wonder how much Ruiz was paid to only fight back in the first round
I read somewhere that his biggest payday was against Ruiz around 2.5 mil $

roy did ok man. didn't do as well as he could have with a partnership with a major promotor, but he did OK. he was a decently shrewd businessman, or at least he had a few around him in the 90's and 00's when he could sell a few hundred thousand ppv.

Always thought he was signed to eddie hearn? He is always hanging around hearn
I always thought that Jarrell Miller was signed with Al Haymon and the PBC.
Was with salita and Cohen.. now under co-promotion with salita and matchroom.
obviously wants it to just be matchroom now, he said a couple weeks ago Hearn is the only promoter he's known that has provided everything he's promised in terms of money, activity, dates etc.
Miller is starting to become a diva lol. No doubt Eddie Hearn has been whispering into his ear about the vast riches he can earn. Oh and ask him to do PED testing and he will ***** himself, I wonder why lol?
He threw some shots at Eddie because he has him fighting in the middle of nowhere in Kansas
Roy Jones should be a warning for any self promoting fighter

big baby miller Trying to Buy Out Hs Contract from dimetry salita WHATS GONE WRONG !
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q1ZFX9Y8Z8cabout a year or maybe longer ago he tried the same thing when Salita and Greg Cohen were his copromoters.
salita is best off selling off miller and shields to match room. that's all he has at least he cashes out and continues with small shows and bringing up fighters. bottom line is get a lawyer to review the promotion contract before you sign.
