whats with fame obsession on these forums. I understand that these superstars bring money and attention to the sport but something tells me that is not the main reason people are obsessed with celebrity boxers. Is it that people want their sport to become mainstream like baseball and basketball? Do people want recognition for heroes through whom they live vicariously?
He will be back soon. Fight at the end of the year or 1st quarter of 19.... then he is getting Pacquiao. Guaranteed. It won’t be Floyd, it’ll be WBA reg Champ, Emanuel Pacquiao
he doesnt have the personality and his style in the ring just isnt appealing enough to casuals
i think he had atleast two fights right that were on primetime television? and the ratings were lukewarm. nobody really knows this guy outside the hardcore and thats unfortunate. dudes got like 40k twitter followers
DeLahoya, Mayweather, and Pac don't have particularly interesting personalities...Neither does Canelo...They're all pretty much dullards. Thurman is more interesting than any of them personality-wise. He's also just as exciting to watch as Delahoya and Canelo were..More exciting than Mayweather.
The PBC didn't teach him how to fight. The man is a superstar because he knows how to fight. So with that being said he would've been an elite fighter regardless of any promotion.
Keith was getting higher ratings and selling more tickets than anybody on Top Rank. So you're telling me if he was with Top Rank now and injured he'd be a bigger star?
Being out for 2 years is what stopped his momentum.
I actually used the PBC name as click bait for people to stop sleeping on Thurman.
Before he went out with an injury who was getting higher TV ratings and selling more tickets than him? (besides Canelo and GGG of course)
That's my point actually... People have forgot about "One Time" who IMO is STILL the best 147lbs fighter in boxing & that includes Spence & Crawford.
It's Crawford, Then Thurman (only cause the layoff), then.............. Spence.
Any MAIN event at 147lbs should go thru Keith not Spence.
He was a STAR and on his way to Superstar before the Injury! Thurman was bringing in BIG RATINGS every time he fought so I don't see how PBC hurt him when they featured him the most and he was the face of PBC when it first started
No, he actually got preferential star treatment from PBC by being put on CBS on two big fights against Porter/DSG. Also was on NBC for the PBC kick off. This guy got his two biggest wins back to back and just went M.I.A. for two years. You can't blame anyone but him for that.
