Rocky Fielding way taller than Canelo

Had to look it up after I seen you mention this cuz I was curious how big of a dog Fielding was. Looks like he's a +660 dog or about 7.7 to 1 to win. Canelo is -1200 btw for the people who might be curious. Yeah I checked it. Odds are stingy. Fielding wouldn’t win this if they hooked Canelo up to a tequila IV and then made him do a little bit of smack for good measure, and then tied his feet together.

Canelo looks about 5’7 max. Someone like Smith would have to beat him to be fair if that happened.

Yeah, people bring up Douglas-Tyson but that was 28 years ago. I was trying to think of a lower weight comparison, Fielding winning here would be comparable to something like Barkley beating Hearns and that was even longer ago. According to boxrec odds there were only 4/1 so not as big an upset as I thought. I love boxing but I’d only watch this if I actually knew Canelo or Rocky personally,

Fielding doesn't use his size particularly well and Canelo will be too good anyway but I don't think he has any business at 168 regardless of how artificially inflated he can get. I think Mundo would take Canelo's lunch money; he's just way too big with skill and fight IQ to go along with it.

I do think Canelo will run into problems if he gangs around that division too long. It's garbage right now with no real competition but it'll eventually come around and he'll be way too short to hang. I do not think the division is garbage exactly. There is a lot less heat though than in the division he is leaving behind, if only temporarily. Zurdo would be a big step up from Fielding and Smith an even bigger step. Personally I don't think Canelo has any intention of staying in a weight-class he does not belong. This is similar to RJJ seeing a flatfooted HW champ he could beat and grabbing that opportunity.

I think Fielding will put up a better fight than jr. That size advantage is significant.

Guys like Smith and Zurdo are even taller. Canelo would look even more dwarfed standing next to those two guys.

And way less talented. Best of luck to Rocky. Nothing against Canelo as Usually he fights the best available but it’d be nice if a 35/1 on favourite or whatever he is got chinned one of these days. Anything can happen in boxing? Not at this level it can’t.
