Among any welterweights in history, who would have beaten Floyd Mayweather?

great gif of him fighting a lightweight who gave up size to juan diaz at the time . you know marquez was 130 all week for that fight? really. he was 133 at the weigh in, and probably 135 in the ring! this is AFTER he fought floyd.
it was only after marquez hooked up with a steroid guru that he put on pounds of muscle late in his career.
to answer your question, this is easy, because there aren't many, but there are three who are all but a shoe in
leonard
hearns
robinson
they hit too hard, their chins were too good, they were just bigger, better fighters. floyd's temperament was such that i genuinely doibt he'd ever fight them. if you put off fighting manny pacuqiao for six years you are not fighitng 6'1" tommy hearns. sorry, maybe you guys don't get that.
Thank you New England totally agree with these 3.

Hypothetically give Money Mayweather’s experience to PBF and most of those guys would either lose or win in a very close fight!
Since this is fantasy it’s only right to be hypothetical!
I like Floyd’s chances with that cuz it’s his experiences as an older fighter with his prime body and fresher hands!
Would be some really good fights that I would pay top dollars to witness!
prime froid lost to castillo lol duran destroys him at 135. he isn't beating anyone there either
Duran lost to lesser fighters than Floyd, to say Duran destroys is stupid when he couldn't even beat or destroy lesser fighters like Esteban de Jesus , Robbie Sims or Kirkland Laing.
You can say that Floyd at WW wasn't his best weight and had already adapted his style to his hand injuries. Ironically every fighter has to be in their prime to have a shot to beat the 147 Floyd that wasn't even in his prime. Prime Floyd was before he moved up to 147 and before his hand injury.prime froid lost to castillo lol duran destroys him at 135. he isn't beating anyone there either
Hearns, SRR, Jose Napoles. Even money to beat him, the Duran who beat Leonard, The Leonard who beat Hearns, Emile Griffith and Henry Armstrong.
I'd add Luis Rodriguez to that. I couldn't see Mayweather beating him. Rodriguez was an excellent mover, with really high volume, excellent accuracy and a great jab. That jab would be in Floyd's face and he'd simply outwork him and would be just as quick.
I'd say after Hearns that's the worst style match for him of the last 50/60 years.
I'd also add Wilfred Benitez too. Great defense and not really seen Floyd have to deal with a great defensive fighter or someone with great movement and legs like him and especially Rodriguez. Kid Gavilan too.
Pernell Whitaker I'd pick too as he's a defensive puzzle and a better fighter at his best. I felt De La Hoya deserved the W when he was borderline shot and coked out/depressed/inactive so logic would say he does even better at 147. I think Tito Trinidad could be too big and hit too hard. Paul Williams is another with a hard style for him too.
Some fights that would be just about 50/50 would be Ike Quartey, (early 2000's) Mosley, Pacquaio from late 2000's, Vernon Forrest.
Who are the prime legit WWs that Floyd fought and beat? That is why there are plenty of prime legit WWs that can be thrown around (included).
Has nothing to do with my post.
Why would you use a 37 year old Mayweather as an example?
Does a 35 year old Armstrong stand a chance against a prime Mayweather?

Tbh, any prime elite ww of the past has a shot. It's not like all these guys were bums or walkovers...literally anyone has a shot against anyone on any given night. I'm talking about the guys who proved themselves to be the absolute cream of the crop from each era.
Boom. This is the one!
Pac also had hand speed, foot work, power, but all were nullified by Floyd's ringmanship. Floyd outpoints his opponent every round and just cruises to victory. How do you think will Hearns approach that fighting style?
He will jab his head off and when Floyd retreats he won't follow him. What's Floyd going to do then. He will probably run around the perimeter of the ring while Hearns stands there waiting for Floyd to come in on him. It's Tommy's reach that is a big problem for Floyd. Tommy has a huge reach and height advantage. Go watch some of Tommy's fights at Welter. Hearns was a very very good boxer with huge power and fast hands.
You used a fight where he was 37 years old and way past his prime as reasoning for why prime ATG's beat him.
It's a totally flawed line of thinking in literally every way and I don't know how I can make that easier to understand.
It's the equivalent to me saying Prime Floyd destroy's Armstrong because Chester Slider beat Armstrong. It's illogical it makes no sense.
Yawn ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
Mickey Walker
Fritzie Zivic
Ray Robinson
Henry Armstrong
Kid Gavilan
Carmen Basilio
Luis Rodriquez
Emile Griffith
Jose Napoles
Roberto Duran
Ray Leonard
Tommy Hearns
Wildredo Benitez
Prime Pacquiao
Paul Williams
Felix Trinidad
Pernell Whitaker
Prime De La Hoya (though I had him winning)
Prime Mosley
Possibly Billy Graham, Vernon Forrest, Bud Crawford, Carlos Palomino, Khan and Thurman
If sparring rumors count, then amateur floyd gave pernell whitaker work. So I guess that cancels out his sparring "loss" to spence in his mid 30s.
nothing cancels anything out. Would it really surprise u if floyd gave pw work? Floyd spars different then he fights when it counts and as said spence handed floyd his ass which is why floyd kicked him out of his gym that day. Spence is a bad man!
I don't think you have to dig into the ATGs in the 80s for someone who can beat Floyd. Paul Williams would have beaten him if they ever fought. Same with Margaritto. Big pressure fighters who PBF won't be able to keep off him with his pitty pat pot shots.
