CALLUM SMITH wants to face the 12-stone division's very best after knocking out George Groves on Friday. Scouser Smith captured the WBA world super-middleweight title with a seventh-round win over Londoner Groves in Saudi Arabia. Smith, 28, sealed his victory in the World Boxing Super Series by sending Groves backwards from a left hook and then leaving him on his knees after a clinical finish that included a right to the body. Considering Groves is a pretty big SMW himself, but he looked tiny compared to Smith
He really did. Still trying to figure out how Smith gets down to 168 and yet doesn't look like Skeletor at the weigh ins, as one would expect. Maybe he has lighter bones or something.
The win over Groves puts him top of the division.
The best way to see who the best is is to see them face eachother.
Hopefully Ramirez and Benavidez feel they missed out somewhat by not entering the WBSS and are now willing.
Sure, Groves is a good fighter but he has been mullered a couple of times previously, had a razor thin W over Degale and has always been just a little bit chinny. Smith could be a force at SMW, though. Dude is absolutely huge at the weight, has good ring smarts and can clobber. Pretty formidable mix.

Groves was out boxing the **** outa Smith till a lucky left caught him. Smith is garbage. Benavidez and zurdo will meek him
Benavidez and Zurdo will do nothing but fight bums and duck groves and Smith.

In some regards they do but I do think he has the most solid claim to being number 1 plus the ring belt
Agree, Groves is definitely the best name on any of their records.
Uzcategui’s win over Dirrell is probably better than either of Zurdo or Benavidez’s best wins too.
Callum is hands down #1 for the moment. Benavidez and Zurdo ducked the tourney but still didnt fight each other. They both have work to do. Neither should be ranked ahead of Groves yet.
£6m isn’t a bad prize fund - I’d probably just retire on that 😂
Fair play to Smith, but Zurdo & Benevidez have good claims on being the best at 168 too. We’ll see who comes out on top over the next year or two.
Wow that's a nice payday!
I agree with Benavidez has a good claim, but not that bum killer Zurdo.
They both had the opportunity to enter the WBSS but declined.
Smith is ranked number 1 on BoxRec and rightly so.
