Just in general. I have been told that most of Muay Thai fights are won with fists. So anyway fists are very important in Muay Thai too.
For self defense I heared several times that pure boxing is the best.

Once a guy from boxing came to the Muay Thai training, and he said that boxing training was too monotonous.
you kidding?) Muay-thai fighters prefer to win with knees and kicks, if you are in thailand. you wont ever outpoint an opponent by punches there.

I'm a BJJ guy but I train with a few Muay Thai guys who use BJJ for their MMA ground game... received wisdom is that the grappling arts are probably your best bet for self defense (though I am, naturally, a little biased), but also that boxing is about the quickest route to being able to defend yourself effectively.
How are you thinking? As a spectator sport, for self defense or were you considering doing it competitively?

Not a fan though I respect them.
Just feel every fights the same with two guys squared up stood in front of each other taking turns may as well watch a game of slaps.
Muay Thai is a good style for infighting. Kicking trees isn't much fun, but you need to do it, shin to shin contact doesn't feel good at all. I still prefer a grappling style like Jiu Jitsu for being that close
Mate of mine is a muay Thai fighter.. think he even won a European title a few years back.
He did the whole travel to Thailand and kick **** out of Banana trees to sever the nerve endings in the legs.
It's a very disciplined sport and very painful bit great to get into even for just keeping yourself fit.
Tough sport just like boxing except with kicks and elbows.
I think it's more deadly and savagery than boxing tbh. I respect Muay-thai fighters and the sport.
This man here is a known beast, he has over 200+ fights
That's crazy man.
Do you know his official record,?

Ever tried?
Just wonder if there are some opinions.
