no because he gets caught up in his own speed he gets carried away trying to throw so many shots he stays in the pocket too long and gets hit with big shots plus he cannot fight on the back foot
Part of the reason of why he's fun to watch is not because of his chin. It's because despite his speed he's not (or doesn't try to be) elusive. So, even with an iron chin he'd be out-boxed butmost of his losses have come from a KO so who knows if he would have beat Garcia etc... I admire his guts, though
Why do people act like the point deduction(s) were unfair?
Any competent referee would of disqualified him, period.
He constantly low-blowed Peterson, rabbit-punched, clinched and pushed. He was warned and warned repeatedly, he's lucky the ref was so lenient.
Who knows? The last point deduction, he held Peterson's head down and the ref told him to stop. Khan looked at the ref, ignored him and punched Peterson as the ref is pulling them apart.
Then Peterson got screwed over by at least 1 of those knockdowns that were just trips.
Yes if he had a chin maybe he would make it up the very top and possibly top 5 P4P, but it's all ifs and buts. I like Khan fights he's entertaining, ans because of his vulnerabilities it makes it more exciting..people can say what they want about him but most of this fights are good to watch.
Amir Khan was giving Clenelo a boxing lesson before he got caught with a lottery punch. Let's say the chances of winning the lottery against Khan are 1/100. The chances of winning the lottery against Ruslan Provodnikov are 1/1,000,000, for comparison.
More like 1 in 3 with Khan, one power punch on the button is likely to knock him down.

would he reach P4P# 1 status?
NOOOOOOOOOO. Just NOOOOO.
Great fighters accept their weaknesses and adjusts to it.
Even Lennox learned it the hard way.
Other greats are just too gifted physically that they can bypassed that process.
Khan doesn’t acknowledge that his chin is weak, he is too egotistical and delusional for that. Hence he continues to do his stupid moves in the ring.
Why not fight tall and long behind a disciplined and consistent Jab?? Why not improve his defense and footwork??
With his attributes he certainly could. Now where is his knowledge in that?
He doesn’t use feints and baits, he doesn’t win the mental battles, he’s just plain delusional it’s cringeworthy to listen to him.
With his speed and reach he doesn’t even jab much to the body, like Floyd does to disrupt his opponents rhythm and stop them on their tracks.
With his speed he barely throws the lead right, or knows how to pull right counter.
Being the pound for pound number 1 is a different ballgame.
Floyd, pac, roy jones, lomachenko, lenox those guys are levels above Khan with an Iron Chin.
He ain’t even better than prime dela hoya even if you add that chin.
Your point is valid but I think he got screwed in the Peterson fight. Khan probably would have won any place other than DC.
If he fought anywhere else he'd of lost via DC more like.
You don't shut out world champions without some decent boxing IQ. I think he understands his limitations but is prone to lapses in concentration, something which many good fighters down the years have had.
His footwork is extremely competent in certain aspects, ie when punching moving forwards, it's his upper body movement, and movement whilst in the pocket which is his biggest issue, similar to Wlad.
Again his punch variety is very good, but his technique suits straighter punches. He also has problems generating power when in the pocket, which is why his best work comes outside the pocket.
If you are going to criticise him at least be accurate.
what world champs did he shut out?
No, his IQ is horrible, his foot work sucks and he throws the same shots over and over again...Why do ya'll try to make him out as some master boxer?

possibly but didnt he get credited with knockdowns where punches didn't land so that obviously effected the scoring
Hell no. He still would not be that good. Peterson edged him out on points and Peterson is not very good. Peterson isn't a big puncher and Khan's weak chin didn't cost him that fight. Khan isn't much of a puncher himself. Khan failed to drop Algieri or Diaz and neither of them are hard to drop. Khan will be fighting his 2nd cherry pick in a row. He doesn't even believe in his own ability or he would be fighting a legit top 10 welterweight instead of unknown Vargas. Khan just wants to cherry pick his way to a big money fight with Pacquiao. Khan a top pfp guy if he had an iron jaw? No, you need a whole new boxer for that.

No, don't think so. He's still a flawed fighter. I mean how do you explain the Algieri performance? Not like Algieri is a huge puncher but still was very competitive and won 4-5 rounds. But Khan against boxers like he already is would be hell. One of his problems is he will throw fast combos when they are not necessary at all. Kind of like GRJ. There isn't much sense behind them, just what he has been doing his entire career. His punch variety and IQ would have to improve to reach P4P #1 status.
True that. Once he faces a fighter with good timing who can punch I between those fast combos, it's lights out!
