Do British fans have low standards?

Who has called Whyte elite? there are no elite fighters in the division so that's a bit weird. I would love to know this also, havent seen a single person on here calling him elite. I agree there are no elite fighters in the division.

Calzaghe is definitely a great. But the last one we had was Carl Froch. He's a lock for HOF when the time comes. Well, let’s make a distinction between a great, and a HOF’er. Froch is no ATG. Joshua has Nigerian heritage, but he is definitely a Brit. He was born and raised here. Yes, you are correct. But, if Nigeria had as much to offer him as the UK did...he be Nigerian.

I believe we have a higher percentage of newer casual fans, who are loud, but don't really know what they're talking about. I think social media and boxing forums are a good way to gage American opinion. It's crawling with nutters. Just look at this place. How do you know they don't attend boxing shows? How would you be able to deduce that? If you're not From America it could be but it is also misleading

I'd say the general British boxing fan is fairly realistic. Most people i know here that i'd consider genuine boxing fans are not AJ fans and still think he's not elite etc.. and they certainly don't think Whyte is. Casual fans are a different matter, but isn't that the same anywhere? It's just there's a big casual market being tapped into in the UK right now, so you get a lot of people with an uneducated view. It is what it is. Not really any different to when UFC was really appealing to a huge casual audience a couple of years ago with the likes of Ronda Rousey etc.. It just attracts a load of bandwagon jumpers. That's the same as boxing in the UK now, especially some Matchroom events. Then again. Loads of American's have Crawford as p4p no.1 and his best win is Postol. So, it happens everywhere.

started to notice an increase in the dislike of british fighters and the fans on here lately can only put it down to a worry over a handful of average fighters in bellew joshua whyte and a good fighter in fury in the heavyweight division but I guess thats normal when all your chips are on Wilder and you only have garbage like Miller and Jennings to fall back on

A lot of UK fighters win some championship, get hyped up and they end up losing it once they step up and fight some non UK fighter. How many UK champs are there that are considered great and have defended their titles against non UK fighters recently? BJS and AJ? How many American fighters are considered great? In fact, which fighters from anywhere in the world are considered great? We actually fight the best fighters in the world so of course we'll have some losses. Would you prefer us to be like the Americans and fight **** most of the time?

I don’t side with the TS but Joshua’s resume is trash ****en coward and Whyte is a ****en bum. Joshua will have a very good resume after he's beaten Povetkin. It's by far the best in the division. Whyte beat a good fighter in Parker so that makes him good. He's far from a bum.

It is not so much the real fans, mainly the casual fan who believes anything that come out of Eddie Hearn's mouth. Joshua, for example is placed on the same pedestal as Jesus Christ. He ticks all the progressive media boxes - black, Nigerian, criminal, no father around, but now has 'turned his life around' through sport etc. All total BS of course, but makes a great narrative.
