... "Usyk wants the fight. I have a lot of respect for Tony, he is a brave and determined fighter who proved his skills and character in the last couple of fights. Bellew is an emeritus WBC champ, Usyk holds the regular WBC title. This fight should definitely take place."
Usyk told Sky Sports in January: "I will move up to heavyweight and show them all how good I am. I think you can see yourself, I will fight ."

A guy with over 70% of his fights ends in KO's lacks power? Sure he might not have one-punch knockout power but he lands cleanly and certainly has enough power to hurt people.
This is a guy who throws and lands a lot of shots, even big heavyweights will be effected if they have to take a lot of shots.
He will dismantle Bellew and I honestly think he could very well beat the likes of Joshua
Undisputed in cw vs 4 belt hw in April at Wembley? Possible anyone?
Four belts? Look in AJ's closet, surely he owns more than four belts. Probably owns dozens.
If you're referring to world title belts, he has three, not four. Surely you can count?
Man I just re-watched his big post fight interview and he dropped everyone's name...everyone who helped him and that name never came up...
Maybe he doesn't have an official trainer and they just needed a name to be announced and it was just someone in his entourage?
He mentioned two businessmen that organized the camp, Papachenko, Wlad, Gvozdyk another sparring partner....Only Andrey he mentions is Kolosov which is the mental coach.
Lol .. I watched that interview too. He thanked everybody who had helped him prepare for the fight and every member of his team, by name ... and none of the names he mentioned sounded anything like the name of the guy who was introduced as his head trainer at the weigh in!
His name sounded like Andrey Olapryenko. I did a search for it too, but came up blank. He is obviously the small, dark haired guy walking out alongside Usyk for the weigh in.
He was part of the corner team for the fight, but Anber was acting like head cornerman. It was Anber who came to the ring centre with Usyk for the ref's instructions, and Anber who was entering the ring in between rounds.
I noticed Papachenko giving Usyk instructions from outside the ring though, Virgil Hunter style.

... Of course i don't know him -- sounds like an Ukrainian name...
No idea....searched the name and nothing, don't recall him dropping that name in any interviews.

Maybe Papachenko is really in charge, but, for some reason, they don't want everybody knowing about it.
In an interview he said that he reached out to Papachenko after Loma's last fight I think? I forgot... anyway he personally asked Papachenko to help him prepare for Gassiev.
It was a comprehensive camp, and they had someone for everything...strength and conditioning, Russ, Papachenko...
If I were to guess Russ will be the guy in there doing pad work, working the bag with him, generally making him work.
Papachenko is the boss.
Do you know this guy, introduced as Usyk's head trainer at the weigh in for the final?

then Papachenko was in his corner, but the cutman was in charge with the camp... OK...
That's what Usyk says in the video I embedded .. that Anber is the "superviser" of his camp. He also says that his former coach, Serhiy Vatamanyuk, was "not really my coach"
Here's an article about it: https://www.express.co.uk/sport/boxing/992378/Oleksandr-Usyk-Murat-Gassiev-fight-trainer-coach-interview-World-Boxing-Super-Series

Papachenko was in his corner for the Gassiev fight, but Russ Anber, his cut man, was in charge of his camp and another guy - whose name I don't know how to spell - was introduced as Usyk's head trainer at the weigh in:

He is...they are keeping it all very low key.
Loma and Papachenko are "helping" him, Russ is more of a front end guy, every day guy...

... very low key or not, recent Usyk's game really shows Papachenko's hand... :)
... isn't he training with Anatoly Lomachenko?...

"If in cruiserweight I will have to put away the extra plate of pasta, if heavyweight I can eat the extra plate of pasta. I think in heavyweight it would be excellent. It would be my first step in this..."
And the Bellew comments afterwards saying he wants the belts at cruiser....
... and he will have to be a little reckless vs those three giants too -- because otherwise he will not land anything of notice...
Usyk cuts weight to fight at CW and is usually around 215lbs to 220lbs in the ring. He is 6' 3" with 78" reach.
Those are respectable stats for a modern HW, so he won't have too much of a size disadvantage against any top HW, except Tyson Fury. But everybody is at a size disadvantage vs Fury!
Coincidentally, Usyk has the same birthday as Muhammad Ali, and his physical stats are virually identical to those of prime Ali.
Bellew may prefer the fight at Cruiserweight too. He'll have a crack at all the titles. Unless he's got to hurt himself making 200 lbs maybe he'll want to go for the titles?
Sounds like this is next regardless. Not an overly competitive fight but one that will draw attention and give Usyk an opportunity to go and beat another respected fighter in his own backyard.
I’m pretty sure Bellew has stated that he wants the fight at cruiser for all the belts
He's changed trainers twice recently, and the reason he gave for getting rid of his last coach - that he wasn't teaching him anything new - indicates that he knew he needed to improve.
He seems more controlled and balanced in his movements now than he used to be. I noticed him doing balance exercises while training for Gassiev in a video at the WBSS YT channel. Maybe that's something he's been focusing on with his new trainer, Russ Anber.

Usyk rather wants Bellew at CW, then Joshua... | BoxingScene Community
