I know he is the only name on Wilders resume in 50 fights so you have to big him up to stop Wilder looking so bad but looking at the threads on this forum it's getting ridiculous.
Whyte and Chisora both beat better opponents than Ortiz last night but Wilder fans are salivating over Ortiz and claiming he has cemented his status as number 3 in the division by beating a bum.
Reality check, he is 40 and has been in decline for over 5 years now. Going life and death with Wilder shows how bad Wilder is and nothing else.
UK fans watched him in two televised fights prior to Wilder and could tell he was washed up, he fought Malik Scott and Dave Allen and was truly woeful. Everyone said at the time how terrible he was so it can't be blamed on anti Wilder bias. Those performances cost him some big fights as he stank the place out and is probably why Wilder agreed to fight him.
What has he done to deserve this status? Who has he beat? Some people mention Jennings as an ok win, how long ago was that?
It all comes down to one thing, he is the only decent opponent on Wilders record so needs to be hyped up as some killer.
Malik Scott was beating Dereck Chisora on all 3 scorecards prior to a controversial 6th round stoppage where he beat the 10 count and the ref stopped it (UK ref).
Luis Ortiz dropped Scott 3x (arguably 5x) while cruising to a wiiiiide UD. Scott was in pure survival mode landing just 45 punches in 12 rounds.
Ortiz also has a dominant win over Jennings, the guy that beat Perez when Takam couldn't. The same Takam-Perez that are top 3 guys on Pedvetkin's entire resume.
Ortiz also dominated a guy like Cojanu far easier than Parker did, he literally made fun of his power. Ortiz also dominated Thompson far easier than Pulev or Takam did.
Why is Takam better then Ortiz??? why is Parker..who have they beaten so great?
Who has Ortiz beaten ?
Matter of fact who has wilder beaten ?
Ortiz has done nothing as a hw and wilder hasn’t beaten anyone worth remembering
Some fans are funny. When a guy they worship beats someone that opponent is a great fighter but if a fighter they dislike keeps winning and proving them wrong that fighter gets worse and worse. I had j.razor trying to tell me Manfredy, Berto and McGregor are hall of famers and great fighters better than Loma, GGG and even Willie Pep. Lol dead serious.
Ortiz is solid. He’s not an all-time great that Wilder fans are claiming though.
Class is in session

Because he is so bloody good. He is the next best Heavyweight outside of Deontay Wilder. When was the last time you've heard of King Kong of ever ducking or avoiding a fighter?

The closest scorecard Malik had vs Ortiz was 120-106. Scott ran all night and almost got KTFO.
Ortiz sparked Allen out in 7 less than 4 and a half months after Allen had gone the distance with Whyte.
I don't think Hearn thinks Ortiz is washed up. He has steered AJ away from the Cuban at least twice and Dillian at least once.
I was high on Ortiz too until a few fights before the Wilder fight. He fought here and didn’t impress too much, the hype died down then. But it seems after the Wilder fight where IMHO he did better than I thought he would, his status suddenly went through the roof from a loss, that was a bit weird.
