It's the only way that Eddie Hearn could gain a foot hold into the U.S. Market because the PBC has the deepest talent roster in boxing.
It could really help launch the DAZN live streaming subscription service in America by featuring more American boxers while Al haymon can give his current fighters more television dates.
I think It'll be a win win for both parties. So what do you all think? Would it be a good idea?

haymon and hbo thing was basically because oscar had a meltdown and couldnt stand the fact that his actual company didnt have contracts with guys
haymons model survived while oscars company doesnt have a heck of alot
oscars company had a sweet deal....but oscar had a meltdown with richard schaefer....oscar was the one who couldnt roll with the changes in boxing.....these guys with haymon love the fact that they arent bound to any one network/promo company...they are making money and have flexibility
oscar is the one who essentially ruined haymon/hbo relationship....and haymon dont need them now.....theres a reason alot of guys are talking about hbo boxing being dead
As much as we disagree I repped you for that. Why I'll never use the ignore thingy
Why cant Haymon make fights and shop them to Hearn and Showtime? Face them off against each other, works out better for the fighters. "Hearn will pay $4mil for this fight, can you better it?".
Think you mentioned loyalty to Showtime a while back. Think HBO used to think Haymon was loyal to them, look how that worked out. Be foolish to not roll with the changes, and Haymon aint a fool. If DAZN and streaming really takes off itll be wise to already have a couple of fingers in it

These DAZN cards are basically house shows. No one is hardly going to subscribe to that online streaming service outside of a few cult boxing fans. Hearn is going to have his work cut out for him at the gate in order to draw a large enough venue and audience to at least break even because boxing isn't a mainstream sport in the states anymore. In the early stages, someone someplace is going to lose a lot of money on these events. It's a very risky venture. The U.S. market has never experienced anything like it before. Streaming fights exclusively online with no other media outlets like television is extremely rare. Most Americans usually watch their sports on television and not online or the venues. It's a much different business model from the U.K.
It's structured so 4 of the 16 US shows will be PPV budget and the big events have to be what drives subscribers. What he needs to turn it is a star name or 2 and he's only going to get that from a Showtime fighter if he pays miles over their value as Haymon at the moment is shutting down his 15% pay increase offers for A tier fighters and only allowing a Jessie Vargas to move.

Its far to early to know what it is, so far hes announced
6/10 Chicago
20/10 LA
17/11 Las Vegas
8/12 New York
Theres no way the 6 guys signed are going to be on all those cards, theres more coming, until we know who we cant make a decision on if hes failed.
He'll be fine at the gate, Chicago card has been orchestrated towards Chicago, look at the people on the card, and whos being mentioned as opponents. Its to fill the venue.
"Theres Russians in Chicago, we'll get Beterbiev on there"
"Theres Polish in Chicago, we'll have Miller fight Szpilka"
"Theres Irish in Chicago, stick Katie Taylor on"

However, Thurman will make more money on Showtime per fight than he would on DAZN. There would probably be a simulcast or Al Haymon puts up a figure head in order to win the purse bid so the fight can be televised on Showtime because there's no way he allows Keith to fight on DAZN. He would lose his licensing fee for Keith Thurman's fights from Showtime, if he allows Thurman to fight on DAZN.

I agree to a point. The networks that Haymon is dealing with are more established than Eddie Hearn's new venture. So you are absolutely correct in that assessment.
In addition, one would be rolling the dice to get involved too soon with an unknown entity because it's risky business. No one knows what the actual numbers from DAZN will be since the marketing trends in the U.S. Are so unpredictable now that boxing is no longer a mainstream sport. I agree and get all that.
However, you are being a bit disingenuous when you say that PBC events averages 10 fights per card. I have no way of disputing that and it may very well be true.
However what you left out is that the majority of those 10 bouts are mostly dark bouts; Meaning they are not televised during the original airing time slot. So those guys are getting no television exposure at all for appearing on these PBC undercards.
It's because most television networks will air a minimum of at least two or perhaps even three undercards which features mostly prospects before even showing the main event.
You can head to BoxRec right now and see the full bout sheets for every PBC card, for this year and as far back into history as you want, pretty much.
No one is disputing that most of those fights are off TV bouts; when you're a 5-0 or 6-0 fighter, getting in rounds a can or an old journeyman, having that on TV isn't really the goal.
When the day comes where Haymon has too many fighters who are ready for TV and can still fight that the 55 dates aren't enough, we'll see how he moves then.
That's not a problem now.
Because 1)DAZN is currently available in zero homes, with that number not being much higher by the time the Joshua fight comes around and 2)between Showtime/CBS and FOX/FS1/BounceTV there are more than enough slots available to keep the TV fighters moving, and enoungh spots on the undercards to keep the prospects as active as they want to be.
If you've already got opportunities elsewhere, being tied to DAZN makes zero sense at allI agree to a point. The networks that Haymon is dealing with are more established than Eddie Hearn's new venture. So you are absolutely correct in that assessment.

Hearn deal would be great for DAZN if they was trying to establish their APP in the UK!
True :lol1:
I wonder if DAZN tried GBP , toprank and PBC 1st and didn't work out
The if bottom line is those fighters signed with Al Haymon to make money. If they care not because for the lack of air time, fights or exposure, then why not lease them over to Eddie Hearn to help sell and groom them over at DAZN?

Why not just tell Haymon fighters to sign up with Hearn?
The Charlo brothers, for instance, haven't tasted their first $1 mil.
Anybody knows why they continue to stick with Haymon?
Surely, Hearn was offering them much more than what they've been making so far.I agree with you. All of Al Haymon fighters are promotional free agents. He only serves as their career advisor and manager. Therefore, no matter who is promoting them, he is going to get his percentage cut no matter what. However he does have exclusive deals with other television networks like Showtime for instance, for different fighters; Which may or may not effect his bottom line.

Trick question; Haymon has 200+ fighters, but he doesn't have 200 fighters ready for TV. The vast majority of the fighters with him are like Nathaniel Gallimore was a year ago (flashing ability, but still a fight or so away from being high enough up the rankings to warrant TV).
54 dates, let's say you have three TV fights per date (with the vast majority of the dates featuring TV fighter vs TV fighter), and you can easily have 300 TV slots to fill (counting the slots as the opponent).
But if you're Fabian Maidana, or Brandon Figueroa, or Ritchardson Hitchens, or whomever else that's on the come-up, that doesn't mean anything to you. PBC events usually feature 10+ bout cards, so you're looking at having 550+ chances to fight.
If you want to simply have a fight, there's almost always something available. Ok you do the math. 200 fighters with only 54 dates. How many times can each fighter fight per year with that limited amount of scheduled air time?

Eddie sold the dream; pointing to his success in the UK, Eddie Hearn sold a UK-based streaming platform on the notion that he could do the same thing in the US (likely using the same UK tropes (Floyd leaving leaves no American stars, "all the money is in the UK", et )), and they kinda bought it.
DAZN put up a billion dollars, but also put the trigger in the deal that they'd be able to leave with $750m if things didn't work after two years.
The move wouldn't have worked in the UK; Sky Sports isn't sharing anything in the UK, and Eddie Hearn isn't leaving Sky Sports for a deal that could disappear in two years.
lol
Between the 20 dates on Showtime, the 4 BounceTV dates, and the likely 30 dates from a FOX/FS1 package, Haymon will have more than enough dates to keep everyone who wants to fight fighting (fighters calling their own shots will always leave the fight negotiation as they've been).
Nice try thoughOk you do the math. 200 fighters with only 54 dates. How many times can each fighter fight per year with that limited amount of scheduled air time?
Let's just face some facts. Hearn needs fighters and Haymon needs more time slots. He can't put all of his 200 plus fighters on cable television, premium cable television and network television at the same time. Most of the talent on his roster fights once a year anyway. However on DAZN they have a chance of getting major exposure even though their fights would be live streamed online only in the states but also they will be televised on Sky sports in the U.K. As well.

DAZN wanted 32 shows, every year, for the next two years but with the option to have that for 6 more years.
You can't fill that type of schedule by simply picking off shows, event to event. Hearn overpromised, but he starts the deal with half of the obligation already covered.
