Biggest fight of the year, weird how theres no hype.
I can't wait, sticking with my original prediction of Usyk on points, hopefully there's no dodgy scorecards :boxing:
I just think Gassiev is the peaking fighter here and I was really impressed with his boxing ability last fight vs Dorticos. His base was compact and he was very fundamental all around as Dorticos wasn't landing many substantial punches after the third round. Usyk is a bad man himself, but I just Gassiev winning this one. Either a close but clear decision, or a late stoppage. It's his time and he officially sets claim to a top 10 P4P spot after today.
Absolutely the best and most significant fight there's likely to be this year... hell even the 2 semi-finals were amongst the best fights this year.
I'm completely torn here - I started off rooting for Usyk at the start of the WBSS and thought he was a lock, but Gassiev's turned me around over the course of the tourney. I had him pegged as a bit of rock 'em sock 'em dude, strong like bull, sure, but a bit of a plodder... turns out he has deceptive skills and good handspeed - kid's developed massively since making a meal of the aging Lebedev and made me a big fan.
But then I can't root against Usyk - the road warrior who keeps fighting and keeps winning on his opponents' turf. If he can pull off undisputed behind enemy lines it would be legendary.
Gun to head? ****. I'm going Gassiev by close Dec... outboxed for stretches but with strong bodywork playing dividends. A late stoppage not outside the realms of possibility.

I agree man, it's by far the BEST AND BIGGEST fight boxing can make and no one especially here gives a ****. I mean, the mods have stickied Joshua V Wilder but not this? One's still a fantasy fight and the other is happening in a couple of hours. It's quite simply EMBARASSING. This thread needs to be stickied right now
As for my pick, I'm saying Usyk in an absolute thriller. He'll fire off the block straight away, Gassiev takes over in the middle rounds, probably rocks or drops Usyk and with the fight in the balance, Usyk storms through the last 2 rounds, nicks a split decision.
We get a rematch later on and that one, I feel Gassiev will take.
Yeah zero hype. I don’t get it. Especially from “Boxing fans” on here.
Because there are no boxing fans on this forum. It's a bunch of nationalistic/jingoistic retards collated into a cesspit
In summary, this forum has
Wilder fans
Joshua fans
*****s
Pact4rd5
White fighters only fans
Black fighters only fans
Mexican fighters only fans
And retards
Best fight of the year this. Two excellent fighters, the two top guys in the division, all the belts, lineal..it's got the lot.
It's certainly not getting the hype it deserves.
I can't wait. I'm still flip flopping on my pick :boxing:
I'm hyped. Reason why there is no hype is cause most dudes on here aren't really fans of boxing the sport, they're fans of a boxer(s) due to race/flag.
You are 100% right, I never notice this before. The Wilder situation with Joshua opened my eye 100%, am truly disappointed that I never picked up on it previously. I really never paid attention when this was noted by others on here, now I see it clearly. The way they attach themselves to race and nationality is scary. They even think you are like them because of your location.

I was thinking that it was hyped fine, but then I realized that's only because I follow Usyk, Gassiev, and WBSS on all social media.
The fight is on PPV over here on ITV. Am buying the fight, my first in years, because they both deserve it. We have beltholders who were willing to fight each other here, no one is crying about money or P4P ranks, no one think they have a divine right to be given something, they entered the competition with their resumes and go on with it. Those two deserves my money. One is willing to travel to the others country, even though there is hostility between their countries in a big political way. So yeah kudos to both.
Who u got Ray? :boxing:
Going with Usyk... am riding with him all day, even doe I know it can be over in seconds if Gassiev lands something in the right place.

The whole Russian corruption angle is 99.99% fabrication. In fact, I'd rather have my favorite fighter fight in Russia than the UK where refs jump all over and wave their arms while the fighter is trying to get up.
Case in point: World Cup. The biggest sporting event in the world. No cheating found, and ended up being one of the best world cups in recent memory.
I agree with that, i have seen alot of Russian Cards and while dodgy scorecards and robberies do happen, they are far more rare than in the UK and US, Germany etc...
Having said that if the fight is close at all, i expect Gassiev to recieve the decision.
Four things I really worry about with Usyk. 1, getting a fair decision in Moscow.

Usyk /Gassiev don't have enough rolexe's or millions, so they don't care =/.Maybe if this fight made the fighters more money they would watch =/
GASSIEV by DESTRUCTION!!!!!!! The dude better come out and destroy!!!!!!! They are both excellent fighters.... may the best man win....
WAR GGG !!!!!
WAR GASSIEV !!!!!
Looking forward to this fight for quite a while, glad it's nearly here.
I watched the WBSS video earlier to help get hyped for it, and one of the main things I took away from it is Usyks lack of an actual trainer, he mentions he didn't have the best camp for Briedis, said that his old trainer was a good man but that he wasn't really helping him improve etc, and by the sounds of it he never properly replaced that trainer, his substitute seems to be his cutman - who he doesn't refer to as trainer but instead as a supervisor - I know Uysk is an elite boxer but I do wonder how a lack of an actual trainer could affect the fight.
I can see that happening, i like both but i feel like unless Murat hunts and destroys for 12 rounds on the frontfoot & doesnt wait too much, then Usyk will just pick him off with movement and activity.
Four things I really worry about with Usyk. 1, getting a fair decision in Moscow. 2, notorious slow starts, which he can't afford to fall way behind on the cards or get hurt early. 3, tendency to stay in range after throwing his punches. Happened a lot against Briedis where he took multiple shots after his own combos. 4, a tendency to shell up on the ropes when under pressure, which is a death sentence against Gassiev. For all Usyk's movement, it is almost always to set up offense and not to evade pressure. He will have to be better than he was against Briedis to win imo.
