If you have to ask it’s because you weren’t aware of the scene at the time and had no idea who were the best fighters AT THE TIME.
Sorry to be the one to tell you, but...You wont learn anything from boxrec when it comes to relevance at the time.
If it wasn’t for Rigo, I can’t think of a single 122 pounder and down who at the time would even compete with Donaire. Donaire started trying to learn to fight as a southpaw mid fights and his power was devastating. His left hook was quite possibly the best left hook in all of boxing.
Everyone has already mentioned the resume.
It’s common to think resumes are weak in an era where someone was so dominant.
Donaire was so good that when Rigo beat him, guys like Santa Cruz and Frampton lterally skipped divisions to avoid the guy who beat Nonito.
Guys like Donaire don’t come around often in those weight classes. With that kind of explosiveness and power. He was doing whatever he wanted.
Instead of asking people to condense years worth of following certain divisions, go watch all the fights and keep up. Lomachenko would look like trash if you just read boxrec.
“Who’s Linares? That guy was good? Loma lost to a fat guy with like 30 losses who used steroids.”
No offense, dude. It’s just hard to tell people how good someone is when they didnt watch all his fights *and* all the fights of the people he fought and compared them to the rest of the division.
Looked at his resume and his best wins were against Vic darchinyum so how is he a future Hall of famer?
I will make it short he fought little guys once he step up to guys his own size he got his ass kicked THE END
Donaire is not overrated, he was a legitimate top 3 p4p fighter while voluntarily testing randomly with VADA
Won legitimate championships in multiple divisions and unified.
He had lots of good wins. He might make it into the hall. He is better than some of the boxers that are in the Hall of Fame in my opinion. His best days are behind him now but in his prime he was a monster. He climbed up too many weight classes for his own good and it cost him.

He had a good run and at one point was the man to beat in his division. He was 2012 BLH fighter of the year and climbed as far as top 3 pound for pound fighter behind only Pacquiao and Marquez.
Spence and crawford’s hype today wasn’t even matched to his during his heyday.
Stylistically, it is obvious he’d give everyone at 122 a run for their money. Prime to prime and would beat some of the best in that division.
It took a special talent like Rigo to beat him and it was still a close fight with a clear winner. Close fight since the diff of the winner every round was only 1-3 clean punches landed.
Though I believe rigo could have done more. But it’s still a feat nonetheless.
Everything was downhill after that and you could not count the fights after that a step up lol
It’s like saying pac stepped up against bradley and vargas when he was past his best.
It’s like saying floyd stepped up against canelo and pac when he’s older.
Yes he deserves to be in the HOF.
His best win vs a guy with 6 defeats and 2 draws.. donaire is a bum who got exposed after he stopped cherry picking
Is boxing about losses or not??? i am confused..one minute if you are undefeated it means you didnt fight the best, then the next you get slammed for lossing
I thought Montiel was his best win that ko was brutal

So before I go ur saying it's about how many titles u win not who u beat right?? Cause every time he stepped up he got beat. I even seen him step down and get beat.
How is it that you signed up in 2009 and yet know absolutely nothing about boxing? If you haven't figured it out by now, and Nonitos resume doesn't impress you, I would strongly advise you find a new sport to follow.... because clearly this one is going right over your head.
Even if I didn't know boxing it doesn't matter. I'm asking a simple question and ur copy pasting his weak resume.

vic darchinyan was considered a monster at that time and donaire was a big underdog.
fernando montiel was top 10 p4p when they fought.
Mthalane went on to become champion and smashed currently rated zolani tete.
Narvaez was undersized and old, but ill give him some credit for beating a long reigning, undefeated champion.
Nishioka was old and at the end of his career, but still a good opponent.
His 4 division run is much better than broners.

Why is Barry McGuigan in the HOF?
Arce, Vazquez Jr., Montiel were good wins too.
4 weight world champ two time fighter of the year a top 3 p4p fighter for years and never ducked nobody! a definite lock for the hall of fame whether you like or not!
That's nice and everything but Oscar is a x middleweight champ by getting a gift decision from that kid from Germany. Don't mean nothing. So I ask who has donaiere beat?
