Regardless of which side of the story you believe, at this point Wilder is in possession of a contract for a fight with Joshua on April 13th at Wembley. Hearn has just put out a press release confirming that this is the date of Joshua's next fight, apparently irrespective of whether Wilder signs the contract or not. If Povetkin pulls off the upset, there is a possibility that this date would be reserved for the rematch.
So, should Wilder sign the contract and get this fight set in stone (assuming AJ beats Povetkin)?
No, he shouldn't sign. A flat fee of 15 million for a fight of this magnitude is absolutely ridiculous.
Wilder never believed Hearn wanted AJ to fight him before Povetkin. To prove his point, Wilder accepted a terrible offer to prove Hearn was lying about wanting to do the fight next.
Sure enough, Wilder was right, and Hearn refused to do the fight next.
Under any other circumstance, Wilder would have never accepted that offer. He proved his point about Hearn being a liar and now if Hearn ever wants to make the fight later, he's going to have to give a percentage. And a higher percentage than he gave Parker. If Parker got 33%, I don't see Wilder taking less than 38%.
You are much nicer in your write-up. This is exactly what I have been trying to say too.
Joshua is going to make 50 Million easy by the time this fight takes place .
Continually bringing up 50 Million is stupid as though its a handout by team Wilder who cant generate much beyond 2 Million for their own fighter ! :trink26:
I doubt AJ makes any more for his next fight than his last...less than the Parker fight more than likely.
Not many think Povetkin will present a lot of problems.
Bringing up the 50 million is as valid as bringing up the 15 million flat fee that Hearn insists is still on the table...because the 50 million offer is also still there.
The funds were verified by Hearn, which is why he had to have that excuse about "being willing to take less money to bring the unification to Britain".
What "money they are willing to give up" do you think AJ and Hearn are talking about?
It isn't a handout, it's a legit offer that was turned down for less than clear reasons.
Guess that's why it makes a lot of AJ fanboys uncomfortable...
I wouldnt take a flat fee for this fight if Wilder does than respect to him but nope he shouldn't sign for a fight more then 9 months from now that's just stupid
I say no because Wilder knows from experience that one cannot trust an Eddie Hearns's contract. He'll say one thing while meaning another. He needs to take his time and allow his team of attorneys to exercise his Due diligence before signing the contract.
1. Wilder and team accepted this offer already (But didn't sign).
2. Wilder claims he wants this fight more than anything.
So now hes getting the fight he wants for the money he accepted... If he doesn't sign for this fight then he lied about both those points and was basically taking his fans for a ride to boost his popularity.
Only a brain dead Wilder can could refute this.
I'm not a Wilder fan.
1. They didn' sign becuase Freddy pulled a fast one with the date. Bait and switch.
2. Yes, he said that but for his next fight, not in April of next year. Surely thats reasonable? He got AJ what he wanted and AJ moved to Cricket County with no phone, tele, or intranets.
Wilder didn't do nuffin wrong.
The end.
$15million is actually a very good offer, considering what Wilder has been earning up to now. But this beef with AJ has raised his profile a lot. If his next fight does great numbers because of that, he will be definitely be asking for a bigger split in April, and Hearn will probably give it to him.
But no way is he getting 50/50!
yep. and honestly, that's fair. its boxing gamesmanship. but what is just silly is wilder and his fans just insulting any critics or opponents any opportunity they get. no coherent arguments, no sound or intelligent discussion, just foaming at the mouth.
and wilder wonders why he has no endorsements or sponsorships.
i don't disagree there... we can debate the legitimacy of the contract being for the next fight all day, as i am already doing somewhere else.
all i was pointing out is the guy i was responding to said wilder should never be given a flat fee offer. but wilder AND HIS PROMOTER did accept a flat fee offer. so obviously either this guy values wilder more than wilder and his team, or he's just arguing for the sake of it.

I'm not a Wilder fanboy or even a Wilder fan, but being fair to him, he accepted the flat fee to fight AJ next, not in 10 months time. If they both win their upcoming fights, negotiations will start again, imo.

Anyone who thinks Wilder is going to accept the same flat fee nonsense he put up with to be next, only to have Hearn balk...they are delusional.
The fight, when signed, going to be at least 60/40.
And remember, the 50 million is still out there as an offer...
even though he AGREED to the flat fee terms in the contract?

Your the one with special needs my friend . Wilder has never a accepted any offer . The only offer on the table now is for a fight in April . That is why wilder said he wants 50/50 . If the fight had happenend in october wilder said he would have happily been the Bside . Dont make stuff up fella
err...:thinking::pat:
who wants to tell him?
I'm repeating what I said last week, but no way should Wilder agree to the same terms. Now he has some negotiation pull in his favor that he didn't last time. Both Joshua and Wilder are going to be in immense pressure to make this fight happen next. Hearn isn't going to be able to sell another opponent or go on his PR machine rants to make it look like it was Wilder's fault. So the fact the fight has to happen next, Wilder's side has to either ask for a higher guarantee, or a percentage of the PPV buys. Not only that, they have to hold firm on their end that the fight takes place on SHO PPV not on DAZN. They make more money even in an afternoon PPV in the states than on DAZN. This was part of the Hearn dilemma thread that I started last week. Will be interesting to see how this all plays out. But Hearn is in for a rude awakening if he thinks Wilder will agree to the same terms. Those were some awful terms he had agreed to and even though he was desperate for the fight, he has to do better than that. Needs to end up with at least 25 million in the next negotiation or else it is a big fail on his teams end.
I don’t think he should. What if AJ loses to Povetkin? Or better yet is the AJ/Povetkin fight already fixed? These are the questions that would be asked if he signs now. I think he should sign it right after they know AJ has won and there is no injuries.
Read again.. I said he accepted the offer. This is the same offer that he so called accepted but now wants 50/50??? quack quack.
Wilder fans are brain dead foreal.

Verifiability is the simple test for a fact. Now how the hell would you know what the facts are without the requisite information to draw that conclusion. Only AJ, Wilder, their managers and promoters will have that information. Every thing else is speculations the likes of he said, she said.
come on man. the 6 weeks timeline is stuff reported and verified by both promoters and by wilder. where is the speculation in what i posted?
it's only speculation when there are no facts. 6 weeks is factual. from both sides. try again.
now, which side needs who more, well that's a debate we can speculate about all day long. and wilder may even win that debate. BUT, who needs who, and what each fighter should get paid, are two completely separate arguments.
