He thinks he is still ppv superstar.. he should have let bob be the promoter and take all the risk. fight in free espn for $10 million or something..
This event looks like a big flop
I serioulsy doubt Malaysia is putting up a lot of money. I know the only reason Manny is fighting there instead of in the US, is because he wants a big guarantee purse. Arum knows he can't afford to pay Manny those big guarantees anymore because he doesn't bring in that much money anymore. Reason why Manny fought in Australia and now in Malaysia. Only problem is that, with this fight, they weren't certain if the fight would go through because they had missed several dates to pay money for PPV and promoting. They barely put the money to pay Mathysse in escrow this week and the fight is next week. A lot of red flags for this fight but I'm sure now that the money is there to pay the fighters, Arum will promote it on ESPN.
Manny is fighting there because Malaysia is paying allot for the fight and the taxes are a lot less than in the US.
there's more to this than "arum cant afford to pay manny big money because he doesnt bring in that much anymore"..
i think there's more to it than just that. because arum and TR is a master at promoting. arum can easily just make manny vs crawford, this fight will bring in money.
or he can just cross over and co-promote and do pac vs danny garcia, thurman, etc. and if those fights prove to be good, then we'll get rematch, in return arum will make his money. i think there is something going on between pac and arum that we dont know about yet.
Manny won't fight Crawford though and it isn't that easy to make Manny fight a big name not signed to Arum. Arum has never got a top fighter from Haymon to fight any of his fighters because he wants everything on his terms.
I think Manny was upset that he was going to be the co attraction with Crawford, that would probably led to both them fighting after. The was Arums plan I bet.
Few things, I think he is far from broke, but giving the opportunity, why not make some extra cash, second, I believe they doing the fight in Malaysia for many reasons, one being the taxes. Why is people really concern about others peoples money, I will bet you we will go broke sooner than him.
They're fighting in Malaysia because Arum isn't willing to pay Manny the money he wants. Malaysia offered to put up the money Manny wants, eventhough they missed a lot of payment dates to promote and let Arum put it on PPV. Manny still expects those 20 mil guarantees when he doesn't bring in the same revenue he did to justify the money he wants. Big reason he fought Horn in Australia, because Australia guaranteed Manny a big amount of money. These guys barely found the money to pay Mathysse and put the money into escrow a week before the fight.
I doubt it will flop because supposedly Malaysia will be putting up a lot of money for the fight. I really doubt this fight would have gone through if it was projected to lose money without PPV. It's simple economics.

I'm genuinely concerned how much $$$ pacquaio will lose on this fight as a promoter...

I dont know who's bright idea to hold fight in malaysia. I can understand if pacquaio is fighting a malaysian. I think tickets is far from sold out.
i'm going. So happy with it haha
i think the actual fight itself will do ok.. it's the televised part that will hurt badly. unless it's free on tv now?
It will be on ESPN or ESPN plus. Either way, it's not PPV.
I don't think Pacquiao is very bright. Apparently he blew all of his money from the Floyd fight which I'm pretty sure makes someone an idiot.
Manny isn't an idiot, he just does philanthropy with his money for his country. He doesn't just go buy 18 million dollar watches and sh@t with it. He's just over generous. I can't blame him for that.

Arum 28%

:lame:
So your telling me pacquaio was only taking home $4.5 million after one of his $20M dollar paydays?
He'll never be broke-broke because of the support of his people, but its sad to hear all his Mayweather money is gone.
DAMN, DAMN, DAMN -Florida Evans

With all this talk about what a broke idiot Pacquiao is I googled his net worth. He is worth 190 million bucks. I would love to be that stupid and broke and a hero and loved by my countrymen.
Those net worth lists mean zilch. They've been proven to be inaccurate more than once from what I've seen.
Even though Malaysia is a developing country, yet it still ranked among one of the wealthiest countries in South East Asia. It's up their with Singapore and Brunei.
So he shouldn't have any trouble securing the funds for this fight. He just needs a little bit more than a $2.5 Million line of credit for this event. Which is the easiest part while making a profit and paying back it will be the hardest.
