This is a solid signing for fans of the sport, but I don't see how this moves the needle for DAZN and gets people subscribing.
Earn has to make some marquee signings real soon, starting a platform with Bivol as one of your top signings is outrageous, the guy hasn't headlined on any card he's been on. Good signing to build for the future, but he needs to sign guys who will attract viewers to the platfrom, and guys who will allow viewers to justify spending the monthly fee.
If Bivol is a mid-level signing for Matchroom, they're on the right track. If this is a top-level signing, they are in big trouble.
This would be a good signing for Matchroom USSR.
He’s fought in the USA like five times. It not only doesn’t move the needle for selling subs, as you say, it’s a needle in a haystack for anything but the most hardcore of fans in America.
“Hey we signed this Russian, he’s really good” isn’t going to crack a market that’s already over saturated with “pay me” subscription sites/services.
Literally no one I know has ever even heard of DAZN. Just getting brand recognition is the first thing, and boxing isnt going to help with that ... unless he could sign a Canelo or at least a Wilder, I don’t know of anything that Hearn could pull off that will make more than a couple hundred hardcore boxing fans AT MOST sign up for this pay-sub venture.
Regardless of what happens, I hope Bivol's career continues moving smoothly (unlike Beterbiev's, for example). As has been stated, he's the future of the division; however, his newly-won belt comes with certain expectations. How does this affect match-ups with guys like Jack or Kovalev?
I understand but I actually did think you were kidding around. No making fun of you or anything close to that, I don’t watch every fighter too so it’s cool.
Thats ok, I'm not offended. You're a good poster so I know you're not trying to be a dick or anything.

agreed
its not a name with "cache"...its exciting and appealing to us hardcore guys who are really hyped and into bivol...but its not going to gain subscriptions for his service....although im not sure there are many guys available who could....which is why it makes sense that he was/is hard after someone like broner
I don't watch a lot of LWH and don't watch a single CW.

Huge win for Hearn. Bivol looks to be the future of 175, hope he can get some good matchups on this platform. Hbo has one foot in the grave, but they are still hanging on by a thread due to having a few marquee fighters.

WOW :nonono:
He's back with that f#ckhead GYM/Yvon Michel who don't even understand the upside of inhouse fights when he's had a who's who of top 175lbers for years. He's like the anti-Arum, but its sorta worse than Arum cuz at least Arum does put together some solid in house fights at times. This mfer is too f#cking stupid to even know when in house fights are win win situations.
Right on the money.
This mofo put his personal interests of being Stevenson's security guard than worrying about the rest of his stable. Haymon must have made a secret deal with him and now Artur is locked away smh.
Edit: Green K for your post. Meant to write, word for word true before submitting.
Nice pickup.
Was Bivol a free agent or did Eddie buy out his contract I wonder?
I dont think he properly signed with Main Events, just appeared on their cards, hes still fighting on the next one. Im guessing Hearn wanted him after the Monaco card, but didnt want him locked in to HBO like Jacobs when DAZN came calling. Just been on a stop gap whilst things got set up.
IDK what Kovalev's contract is but he needs to join Bivol.
Yeah Main Events and Duva are trash in my opinion. She let Kovalev get straight up played in those Ward negotiations
