So that means Loma is only cutting 3 lbs at Lightweight similar to what Pacquiao & Mayweather did at Welterweight.
Normally boxer cut & gain between 10-15 lbs during the weight in to fight night weight.
*Examples
-Linares fight night weight is 150lbs and he fights at 135lbs. That's a 15lb cut.
-Tank's fight night weight is 142lbs and he fights at 130lbs. That a 12lb cut.
IMO either Loma bulks up a little more or move down to 130lbs where it's his natural weight class. Because this upcoming young Lightweight will be much bigger than Linares since they are young and can cut at least 15lbs if not more. Upcoming Lightweight guys like Devin Haney & Teofimo Lopez are at least 155lbs on fight night.
well if hes too small he shouldnt be there and will get caught out eventually and probably KO'ed, frame wise he does look a bit small for 135 at the moment anyway but it just gives his fans an excuse if he gets beat
boxing should get rid of weight bullies, putting on 10 - 20 lbs is just crazy
Why do the guys that like Loma for reasons other than boxing get upset that people pointed out the fact he was bigger than Rigo?
The problem is the posters that like Loma for reasons other than boxing give him the same amount of credit in every fight, never pointing out the advantages Loma might have.
When it comes to the Salido fight and the Linares fight prior to the KO, these same fans go on and on about the weight advantage these guys had on Loma. It comes off as excuse making when none is needed.
Who likes him for reasons other than Boxing and why would that be so apparent? He has an incredibly pleasing style and refreshing mentality towards the sport.
You are pretty damn passively racist. Why is the weight only an issue if he's the one with the advantage like Rigo and Marriaga (a fight that nobody cared for anyway and was just filling time due to Salido backing out last minute)?
Yet, all his haters made a big to-do about Loma having a 7 lb. weight advantage over Rigo on fight night. Crickets on Linares' 14 lb. advantage. Crickets when it comes to Mikey walking around between 165-180 and Crawford walking around at 180+.
Zactly. The size advantage he had on Rigo is basically the size disadvantage he's going to be having at Lightweight but he won't get credit until he cleans out Welterweight (he probably wouldn't then either let's face it).
I've met him before and seen him fight up close and he's just an average sized Featherweight really. Not sure why people are trying to make out like he's this incredible hulk to push some agenda. He's smaller than most 126-130 guys I've seen up close like Marquez, Morales for example.

Ali won the gold medal at light heavy. He moved up for pro. A lot of heavies he beat were heavies in the olympics/amateurs. Fraizer and Foreman were gold medalists at heavy. Liston was a natural heavy.
Fair point, but I don't think amateur career weight matters too much. If it did, fighters like Andre Ward would not receive much credit for moving up and beating Kovalev, but not many people care that he was a light-heavy in the Olympics many years ago when discussing his impressive (late) pro career rise in weight.
Regardless, I do not think moving up is a prerequisite for being ranked P4P.
Yes have a slight point! Just keep in mind that being able to beat guys bigger than you is what makes you a P4P great! This is why Golovkin will never truly be P4P! Only guys like Loma,Mikey and Terrance when he fights the 54s will make the list of guys like Floyd PAC and JMMarquez! IMO
When you imbeciles gonna understand that p4p is about skills not weight?
There was a huge size difference in the ring with Linares, his back was almost twice as wide as Lomas, there’s no denying he’s at a disadvantage, he could comfortably make 130 and still drain to 126, I very much doubt Linares or Mikey could
Any proof he weighs 138 at 135? He weighed around that at 130. I doubt he's the same size now.
As for Linares weighing 150. Complete bull****.
@10:20
Don't go throwing around weights without a reliable source.
This where is the source? loma was also 138 for the MORNING check weight vs rigo giving him all day long to rehydrate further.
You see the weight jumping usually when guys turn pro younger. When guys turn pro at what I would say 18-20, they will grow and then fill out till about 22-24 years of age. Guys like Manny, Floyd etc grew through divisions. Manny turned pro at like 16? That is why he grew through so many divisions until being probably a natural Lightweight (the rest was bulk) Floyd probably grew to a natural 140-47 guy, the rest bulk.
Many of those European guys turn pro when already fully filled out. They simply cannot grow naturally, so any weight added is bulked up weight.
He is really a featherweight and was champion at 126 not so long ago. He should stay at 135 or lower. He is too small to fight at 140 although he might be good enough to beat top guys at that weight. He shouldn't make thing too hard for himself.
I don't think the question is if he's good enough to beat guys above 140 but if it's the ideal career path to take. I think he's more than capable at beating elite guys at welterweight but to what end? I'd rather see Loma adjust with age defending his dominant reign against equally sized competitors in the featherweight range rather than seeing him eventually faulter to a mediocre greenhorn (Pac vs Horn) due to size.
I feel like the boxing world gets too antsy when one guy becomes so sensationally dominant in a division. It'd be better for boxing if we just all let the best p4p guys fight at their desired weight class. By doing so they do more for the weight class as a collective given the inevitable, someone will come along someday and dethrone them. Pac losing to Crawford at lightweight would have done a lot more good for boxing rather than him losing at a weight he doesn't belong in to some stiff idiot teacher in Horn. It'd blow to see Loma 5 yrs down the road lose to some nobody because the mf is 20lbs heavier
In that case, you must think Ali and Hagler were garbage.

It couldnt hurt him to bulk up a bit and gain some muscle, look at his shoulders. Hes narrower than most 12 year boys. Also he needs more power at LW, when you land the kitchen sink on Linares chin and nothing happens you know you dont have power. Linares is chinny.

Crawford is the biggest weight bully out there. LOLLL
