Not much is being made of Stevenson's chin and how he gutted it out while dead tired and also made some fundamental adjustments to engage Jack. Great performance by the old man. He preserved his title...Comments?
I was surprised that he was able to perform as well as he did given his age and time off. It's pretty impressive actually.
As annoyed as I am by the dude, he's a pretty good fighter. He just doesn't take legit fights often enough.
It's refreshing to see on this board someone who doesn't like Adonis (which is totally your right) but who can still analyze objectively his performance in the ring.
He ran out of gas completely and showed lots of heart to hang in there when he was exhausted and taking a beating. His short comeback in round 11 and staying on his feet in round 12 saved his title.
I really hate to agree here, but I do. Adonis is one of my least favorite fighters in history. Never fights, weak competition, piece of sh*t past, the whole nine. But on Saturday he dug deep and showed the heart of a champion in front of his fans.
I mean, that's never really been a question once he's in the ring. He's gutted out tough fights late before. The problem is he then spends years avoiding tough fights once he's shown heart in the ring.
