Nate Campbell came to my mind as well.
I'd say Willie Pep.

Duran to a certain extent.
You never saw Duran hit the speed bag with his head.
Tszyu actually was a tennis ball dribbling madman. Very freaky.
I'm guessing you don't box but what TS should have said is movement, as movement and footwork are not always the same thing. A great example would be Marquez. He didn't move around a ton, but he had great footwork that was sharp and lended to a good defence and brilliant counter punching. On the other side you had Manny, who had lots of MOVEMENT and athleticism, but poor fundamentals. Marquez had the better footwork, even though he didn't move around like Manny.
Edit; I see the TS clarified and I was correct, he was referring to movement.
and why is that?
quick footwork is what he wrote, and it should be very obvious what he means.

Personally I don't think Hopkins stood out from an athletic stand point. I'd say he was above average at best.
He wasn't a big puncher at all. He had some pop on his shots and would stop guys easily at a lower level but once he was at world class level he usually had to grind guys down. He fought many guys who hit harder, RJJ, Tito, Eastman, Taylor, Pavlik, Pascal etc.
He wasn't particularly quick either, plenty of guys he fought had faster hands than him. Dawson, Taylor, RJJ, Pascal, Calzaghe, Tito, De La Hoya, even Joppy and Allen had quicker hands.
Hopkins just looks faster than he really is because of his superior technique. He doesn't telegraph punches and disguises them well, so they are hard to see coming, as they are so sneaky. They are technically sound too, so they travel the minimal distance with no wasted movement.
dawson, taylor, jones, calzaghe, pascal, tito, de la hoya, ranged from very athletic to the arguably the best athlete we have ever seen in a boxing ring.
again, i stand by the idea that hopkins is not athletic in the standout sense when compared to all time greats. he actually doesn't even blend in with them, i'd even say. but he's not glen johnson, like that other guy said! he's nowhere near that lack of talent, glen johnson was a ham and egger who got by on a great chin, good timing in his career to get roy jones when he did, and squeak out a win against antonio tarver!
Tyson Fury comes to mind too. He doesn't hit hard, isn't particularly quick and if anyone has seen him training is uncoordinated and not very strong either, at least for his size.
+1. He's actually quite embarassing to watch.

Joe Frazier. Hell, he almost drowned in the Superstars game .
David Tua ?
JCC Sr was not very athletic . Did not have fast feet . But, he knew when and where to move.
THE WORST I saw might have been Bazooka Limon. The fkker looked like an idiot in the ring. Threw punches slow and from the outfield. Yet, the fkkr was a champion twice.

Hopkins was brains over brawn for sure..
I can only speak from personal experience being around these fighters in camp.
And of course a lot of heavyweights are not very athletic but one all time great in Lennox Lewis was so lacking in athletic ability it was shocking.
He couldn’t run fast, or jump and he was not very coordinated. I remember him and his one of his friends from Canada trying to dance to some reggae music and I thought he was joking the way he was flailing away but nope he was serious, but man could he fight.
And on the flip side one of the most athletic fighter I have ever seen at heavyweight was Ike Ibeabuchi, he could of been a starting middle linebacker in the NFL, he was a freak athlete.
interesting anecdotes man and lol at lewis not able to dance.
Felix Sturm was in a german show called "Schlag den Star (Beat the star)", in which a regular joe competes against a star in different disciplines.
Some were not sport-related, but a lot of them were sport-related and required coordination.
Sturm was one of the rare participants who lost every game lol.
Someone who only got by with his boxing skills. No quick footwork, no Special anything.
Should that guy be the one to learn fundamentals from?
Butterbean
hopkins was athletic when he was younger. not fair to judge a guy's athleticism when he is 40, is it?
not as athletic as many of the all time greats, which he is himself, but the guy wasn't a plebeian athlete by any stretch. always had solid power, great reflexes, good upper body movement and very decent footspeed and handspeed. two examples of things hopkins did that less athletic fighters didn't were put punches together when he countered, and fought from the pocket. you need to be able to move and think quickly, punch with accuracy, and an unathletic fighter just can't do that at a high level.
here's a young hopkins. not a bad athlete, is he?
