He was done and had been for a while. He'd been carefully matched for a few years even before his absence from the ring and dined out on beating a crippled Martinez. He could still be competitive a few years ago but would ultimately lose to very good fighters, then eventually end up losing to the likes of Ali. Retired at the right time really, probably 1 fight too late but hindsight is 20-20...

Cotto was practically shot and he clearly got hurt. He would have lost to anyone.

It was Cotto's last fight, Cotto was 37 years old, mentally halfway retired on the way out, body broke down literally from age, wear and tear in the fight with his biceps tear in the left arm. Even with all that, Sadam Ali barely won. If Cotto would have not torn his biceps in his left arm, he would have won by decision. Absolutely.

I doubt it. Cotto is very rich and he is a proud boxer. He just fought a terrible fight. If somebody paid him to lose then why not have him lose by a spectacular KO defeat?

Cotto was old Ali has skills, last night was just a horrible matchup in a weight class Ali has no business competeting in. He was beating Vargas til he got clipped Cotto and Ali were both undersized 154ers, and Ali has skills to fluster an old unmotivated retiring legend
