first off..no question hes the top guy p4p....we havent seen anyhthing like him...and i applaud him for coming out of the gate going after top level comp...he didnt really have to but he chose that route
my only "but" is that while i want to give him alot of credit for that(coming out of the gate against good comp) i dont wanna give him too much credit for it
im more of an age guy than i am a pro fight guy...now dont get me wrong im aware of the differences...im aware of how many great amatuers or top young prospects cant find a way at the pro level...and struggle mightily
i just hate this "fastest ever" to 3 class world titles stuff...was he younger than floyd when he did it? he chose to stay amatuer longer....and go for another medal....and thats his decision and it certainly means alot where hes from so i get it......im just not sold on giving him that distinction
basketball is a different animal with the rule changes for early entrants being moved....but when you take a look at baseball the way it has changed...15-20 years ago if you drafted a kid out of college he might spend 2-3 years in the minors working his way through the system...a high school kid even longer....now you are seeing a faster return on investment with alot of college players being drafted in june and being called up by september...and even some of the top high school talent only spending 2-3 years in the minors (guys like correa, lindor, machado)
i think loma is great...he is the goods..no question...im just not sold on screaming "fastest ever to 3 world titles in 3 divisions"....hes 30 years old and has tons of experience...i dont think its something that sets him apart....i may being nit picky...and i realize its a line that is used to hype and sell and im not mad at that...its just ill never really see it in my eyes
I think they are different, but each very respectable, accomplishments.
Fewest fights, or youngest - both very cool, but I don't really rate one over the other.
what does that have to do with anything? alot of guys turn pro later...alot of EE guys....look at beterbiev, usyk...the cubans
i am giving loma full props...hes great...just think when they keep repeating that "record" thing its a bit ridiculous....like i said i realize its a selling point....but he really didnt do it any faster than floyd.....he did it in less pro fights....so when they say "Fastest" im not really buying it
The comparison with Floyd is stupid I agree.
You think GGG wanted to be fighting cans in German gymnasiums infront of 100 people? GGG didn't have the promotional force of Top Rank behind him to allow him the same opportunities that Lomachenko has been given. GGG would've happily fought for a title in his second pro fight, and he would've had a good chance of winning too.
I dunno if GGG was ready to go 12 championship rounds in his second pro fights, GGG doesn't have the athleticism and skillset of a Loma.
meanwhile part time miners, cab drivers and gatekeepers can turn pro with no experience.
while you can't compete at european or world amateur lvl if you pop out of nowhere. lots of great amateurs dont turn pro either. in some cases AMs completely better than cans from Pros. more hungry, younger, faster etc.
It's incredibly faster, since guys don't have to worry about going an incredible distance, they go all out each round. Plus, clinching is strictly banned.
There are tons of incredible prizefighters who have never gone pro.
Lol how is this true when Floyd at 30 years old (the same age as Loma now) had a better resume?
:lol1:
Money's great, best of his era but this little dude is fun to watch. Stays in the pocket and don't hug. I feel sorry for any boxing fan who can't enjoy his game.
How is it miles ahead of Ioune? He beat the top guys in two divisions. One of the guys he beat is now a lineal champ. Lomachenko beat a guy who had already been stopped 3 previous times. Went around collecting vacant titles and beating Euro bums and rematching them.
I been calling Linares a fraud since before a fight with Loma was even a possibility. Ask 1hourRun me and him went back & forth about Linares a while ago so this ain't me hating just because he fought loma.
Yes I confirm we had our argument over Linares grade as a champion. As Curt said, I think in the end Linares proved a lot of people wrong in his performance against the so called P4P, and deserves some respect.
It's worth a look. Reminds me a bit of Ward in terms of a strong team behind him and willing to go to the max in training. Also some interesting training techniques on display.
without seeing it ive already seen enough things on loma to know he has some different training techniques for sure...probably helps make him so unique....always found it interesting how his father pulled him out of the gym to take dance....of course espn was selling the **** out of him with the hat, ball and elastic thing...which i also thought was kind of neat
ive always believed if you want to create something unqiue you have do something unique.....im from new england..been a patriots fan my whole life....season ticket holder/diehard...i travel to alot of away games....watching tom brady still be elite in his 40's without alot of physical talent has sold me on being unique....he used alot of unique recovery methods and stretchign techniques and stresses pliability...doesnt lift weights and uses bands ...also a strict diet
for many years it was though that to survive in the nfl you have to lift free weights...our all world TE had been struggling with injuries through most of his career and just last year he began following toms regimen and played a full, healthy, year
ive heard about it...think ive even seen someone post it...ill def have to check it out...i love checking out any boxing docs....watched a joshua one the other day on netflix ....saw the sergio one they had from a few years ago awhile back....i will definitley check it out
loma is definitley different for sure....but im not so sure that he would act differently given the chance at mega money...but who knows...i just dont think mega money will ever be there for him...but he will still make some good coin

If you get a chance watch , Team Loma, its a doc on Youtube and it may give you some insights into how the guy thinks.

alot of guys say that...then it changes
for loma it probably wont change because i dont think hes capable of going up high enough to make that kind of real money...the type golovkin got with canelo...or the type floyd made......i dont think loma can really go past mikey at 135....i shouldnt say that...i bet he could beat some guys at 140 but there isnt any money fights there....
loma will prob be stuck about where he is..making about what he is.....its more circumstance
given the chance loma would do the same things neccessary to secure a canelo type payday.....i mean...who knows...maybe a pac fight is still there for him

I believe his weakness is overconfidence.
He came straight charging to Linares because he thought a bigger guy than him couldn't hurt him.
No defense whatsoever till he got knocked down, after that he had his gloves up for the rest of the fight.
I think Mikey might be too much for him at this moment :beerchug:
im not sure loma thought he couldnt be hurt...i mean..linares is a pretty strong guy..im sure he felt it at some point...i just dont think loma thought he could be caught flush...i think he thought he had linares figured out and wouldnt have something coming at him when he walked in like that

Oh so us white boxing fans are supposed to dickride white boxers?
I'm a loma fan so that's irrelevant, i'm not a GGG fan though. People like you are so weird because you hate that boxing is dominated by minorities :lol1: :lol1: :lol1:
what makes them even more weird is how they are ok with trying to break down the careers of floyd and ward but think anyone that dares to question the moves/career of lil g are just a bunch of crazy black panthers...lol
And this poster want us to believe he's white. Sure doe. Anyone can hide their identity. The pattern is there. GGG, Loma...

its always about floyd in the end. feeling threatened? broner is a 4 division weight champ and loma only 3 therefore broner is better. do you feel better now? how about this. broner beat dimarco who beat linares so obviously dimarco is better duh. cheer up!
stop acting like loma fans dont make the floyd comparisons and try to prove he is somehow greater or better
thats exactly why the loma fans want him to fight a green 23 year old whos under floyds banner...so they can feel like they beat floyd at something.....when most sensible people realize davis is too green and that fight doesnt make sense right now
And this poster want us to believe he's white. Sure doe. Anyone can hide their identity. The pattern is there. GGG, Loma...
im not knocking loma....im giving him full props and calling him p4p #1 no question...even though i already did.....i havent said a negative thing except that i think this "3rd title earliest ever" thing is a bit much
ur a clown...and look in my avatar...im right in the picture in the tatum jersey...ive also posted a closeup avatar of just my face

I agree. He did a lot better than I thought he would do. His size surely helped. Now we see that if Loma jumped from 130 to 140 to fight Crawford it would've been like Loma vs. Rigo. Size matters. The bigger good guy will always beat the good smaller guy. Even Arum admitted that.
oh ya...loma vs tc at 140 loma wouldnt last...he knows this tho...everyone has limits....but i think loma could probably beat alot of 140lbers....147 im not so sure about...its kind of like golovkin going to 175...im not sure golovkin could beat someone like joe smith at 175

loma is amazing no doubt....the one "but" i have | BoxingScene Community
