Can someone tell me why these crackheads love Al Haymon to bits and hate Eddie Hearn and calling his new thing pathetic? :lol1:
Both have:
Free to air fights (although Haymon wasted all his money so now the big fights are back on cable)
No PPV
Work with different promoters
Bringing new ideas to boxing
Why are people hating/loving the same thing? Is it blind nationalism?
Are people just idiots? Or are the Al Haymon fans just not real boxing fans?
I don't get how Hearn's new idea could in anyway whatsoever not be loved by real boxing fans. He has double the budget of SHO and HBO put together!
You know what that means? Bigger, better fights! Consistently.
Anyway, hate along. Same old boring crap from the idiots on NSB
new IFL interview where hearn says it'll much likely be under the numbers everyone is chewing out.. so hopefully that means a good bit less tha n $20 for the US guys.
Yeah, just watched that. Some things I picked up on, NDAs being signed, why theres no fighter rumours going around. September and October cards already done, massive card in November. DAZN being in the market for all big sport contracts as they come up, boxing being the sport they thought they could make an immediate dent in.

Haven't seen anything different from the two.
They both present mismatched fights after another.
Except there's hope that Hearn might do something about the inactivity problem.
It was $20 in Canada. HBO is $15 and Showtime $12 in US. We'll see when they roll it out.
I thought it was like 10.
20 seems a little steep, they'll need to add some big sports for that.
This is not the same thing that pbc was supposed to be. How is $20 a month “free to air”?
The only way this is any good is if it fully replaces hbo sho and espn. What makes you think people want to pay even more for boxing?
How is basic cable free? You guys got conned by the word free. Its 2018. Very few people and even less boxing fans are watching tv with just antennas. Even it you stream you’re still paying for internet service.
US is the hardest market and the most valuable media market so if they want to be really into sports they need it. If those international streaming rights for leagues and events are worth enough they will be included in deals with TV or other media then they won't have them anymore just like Netflix used to have HBO shows but now don't because HBO can just do it themselves.
What are they paying Hearn for then if they don't care, they are paying him a lot to deliver, something that I don't know that he can. If he can't get the job done do you think they don't have an out? Still their success or failure in the US hinges on a lot more than boxing it would just be a piece, could be a nice piece but they need a lot more.
We'll see it can work or it won't for DAZN and Hearn, but if they are serious about competing in the US market they need a lot more than boxing, if they have that much backing they should be working on getting Sunday Ticket rights, then I would consider them serious about the market. Until they get something like that or they get a bunch of smaller things it is a meh brand no one knows about going against big boys who hold all the cards who already saw that playbook with Netflix so that probably won't fly again.
If it is just a meh brand small time, it is pushing boxing further off the radar for money which is exactly how the sport has gone, has since the future was cable, then premium cable, then ppv. So unless DAZN turns into something good that is not exactly great for the sport as a whole, but could be good for Hearn and some fighters though but there are always winners and losers. Just like DAZN could be a winner or loser in a much bigger game but a lot has to happen and go right for them to win here.
why is it that reasonable responses like these are never paid any attention in these forums?
I got to see how things shape up with this before I criticize it. I just want to see who he signs, what fights are made, and what's the price point. With ESPN+, we Americans already have a sports streaming service. Let's see what he's able to do.
Which sports are shown on ESPN+?
Brook was not big enough to be PPV and no one would fight him? I remember Brook pulling out of fights against Alexander and declining to fight Bradley in order to go the IBF route. He declined to fight Rios, Chavez and Vargas.
Alexander pulled out as well, why didn't you mention that?
He had a mandatory with Porter. Why would he sign away three options to Top Rank? :lol1: They offered Bradley a fight when Brook was champ - According to Bradley himself, so please spare the BS.
Rios chose to fight Bradley instead of Brook - According to Rios and his team.
We all know what happened with Chaves and Vargas. We got GGG and Spence instead.
Brook scurred doe
Again you are missing the fact that they already have a good subscriber base, which includes a million subscribers in Japan alone. They hold the Premier League and Champions league rights in Germany, MASSIVE. They don't need a huge American subscriber base, and certainly not immediately, but they WANT it, to take them to the next level. The US boxing content will give them more subscribers in their existing markets, and other countries that are in the pipeline (which they have the rights to).
It is nothing like the PBC in practicality, because they have their own platform.
Hearn has a $8 million budget per US show for the next 2 years. PBC had nowhere near that kind of financial backing.
Not to mention this is a completely different model, it's a subscription based streaming service, not relying on networks to provide slots. They are looking for a steady progression in subscriptions over several years not profit on individual shows, and that right there is the only real uncertainty with this. We all know streaming is the future, it's why all top of the line Tv's have built in Wi-Fi and streaming services, etc. It's the way music has gone, and movies are going. It's a matter of when not if with sport.

I don't "hate" Hearn's plan. I always root for boxing to be successful. Just can't stand the "genius" hype that surrounds the guy..
I actually like the new proposal and don't mind paying £10 - £20 for streaming through DAZN, as long as there's no additional fees for PPV events. Hopefully, it includes everything.
My dream TV package would be all available boxing fights along with classics, a new contender series and career sets in HD.
Its being implied DAZN have the WBSS aswell, gunna have 53 cards on it in first year. Starting to wish it was available in the UK now.
For DAZN to work in America they need access to more sports than boxing, and preferably sports based in American that have an N or M in the initials. Those are hard rights to come by though and nobody is sleeping on what those rights are worth.
It could cobble together something that works with Boxing, F1 (maybe), NON-epl/ucl football (those rights are spoken for heavily), plus some other smaller stuff maybe non wwe wrestling like NJPW and ROH which are gaining popularity in the US but lack wide distribution for example. Still are people going to pay premium prices for that content? Some would no doubt but enough to justify the costs?
The problem for boxing is if DAZN doesn't work and Hearn is left holding the bag how many US fighters get left in the lurch because their contracted demands can't be met? It sounds good but press releases are meant to sound good, so ask some questions.
PBC to work was obviously a longer term play they had no chance to make money up front or in 5 years really (although they would probably hope to be turning a corner by that point). DAZN is operating similarly to PBC in that they are trying to change the game while Hearn is taking advantage of that. SO if you thought PBC was burning through cash fast just watch how much DAZN has to spend to even dream of competing in this market and that has next to nothing to do with boxing or Hearn other than collateral damage if it blows up.
If the venture works it is great for everyone as more capital put into boxing is good for the sport but this is not a sure thing sort of venture and a lots of boxers could get screwed by something that is pie in the sky.

not as much as hearn does from your community.
man u need to grow the hell up, im sure you're over 14 bro you just have to stop at some point, here it is al Haymon is called al gaymon, people hope his deal fails, threads keeping up with its so called failure, hes the worst thing to happen to boxing, and much more yet the man has never done a interview, nobody even knows his personality, yet a few people call out eddie hearn on his constant lies and contradictions, and say this deal may not work for him because people may not pay and he doesnt really have the fighters that people would pay to see in action... makes him the most hated promoter in the world by so called black people? eddie hearn is a smart business man who knows he can manipulate people, he does a good job of it. he can say one thing one week and then say he didnt say it and only 7 people will call him out. the 7 who call him out makes him the most hated promoter in sports history.
I'm sure it works for you since u have limited access to sports but we that live in the US, we can just flip a channel and pretty much watch any game that's on.
You are missing a few angles here though, the main one being 16 stand alone events/fights, what if those fights involve elite American fighters. I'm not going to throw any names out there because I don't know what fights/fighters you would be desperate to watch. But imagine that scenario as it pertains to you.
Also there is no contract so you can dip in and out of it as you please, if there is a big fight schedule coming up you have the power to subscribe, and then unsubscribe.
The price point hasn't been confirmed, it is €10 in Europe, let's wait and see.
There are many expats and people in the US who are fans of, and would love better coverage of the Premier League, La Liga, Formula 1, as well as a great boxing package. Just as there are people in Europe and the rest of the world that are fans of US sport and European sport, and leagues.
Currently there is no mass market streaming service for sports. It will happen whether it is DAZN or someone else because that is the future, anyone worth their salt knows this. Imagine having access to Sporting events from all over the world in a library (Netflix) format that you can access at your own time and pleasure. That is where we are headed.
Networks will be there, but they will have to adjust and change their ethos over time.
There are toobmany people with a 'Blockbuster' mentality.
Oh man please. Don't even come and give us that BS with Haye. Everyone said it was a mismatch - the other way.
Hearn didn't protect Brook for years, they tried making all sorts of fights. Problem is he wasn't big enough to do PPV, so no one will fight him + he was very good clearly.
You have to sometime just think a little bit before you post.
It might have been a GBP card, but I still remember Lara vs Foreman and Dirrell vs some hungarian on the same card. Both total mismatches.
Sometimes, the A side needs some highlighting. Just the way boxing is, always has been and always will be.
Brook was not big enough to be PPV and no one would fight him? I remember Brook pulling out of fights against Alexander and declining to fight Bradley in order to go the IBF route. He declined to fight Rios, Chavez and Vargas.
My guess is 70-80% of boxing fans in the UK like Hearn. He's completely revolutionized boxing in the UK. From his openness, his interviews with Kugan, to the shows and the buzz around it.
Of course he's the anti hero, so he must get booed. I boo him too.
I think the difference with Hearn and matchroom to someone like Roc nation or SMS, is that Matchroom has been doing it for 30 years.
So they come with some experience.
Good Luck To Him! I hope DAZN Works BUT America is a different market and it is a lot of Competition in the streaming world Particularly ESPN+ which is only $4.99 :dunno:
I don't see a correlation with PBC, but do see a bit of nationalistic pride going on, and posters who have previously expressed disdain for Hearn. It's all a bit pathetic really.
This is big news for boxing, and for sports. I will get access to sports that I previously had limited access to. Also more boxing shows, I will see what the content is like for the first few months, and if I'm satisfied, I will swap it over for my Boxnation subscription.
I'm sure it works for you since u have limited access to sports but we that live in the US, we can just flip a channel and pretty much watch any game that's on.
