I watch KOs on YouTube all the time but I won't pay a dime for it. Is that the same issue with boxing? We get all these non PPV fights doing 800k plus but once you stick a price tag on it, thatz if you dare to, the numbers drop to a 10th. I'm guessing most of these 800k people are fans of KOs and beat downs not really boxing fans.
Sick fights like Crawford vs Postol, Ward vs Kovalev and the can't miss rematch sucked big time on PPV yet Floyd was fighting guys like Guerrero with zero chance of winning and doing 800k plus in PPV. Canelo fought a zombie in Chavez and did like 1m in PPV.
I don't get it. Are there so few boxing fans or are boxing fans just plain broke?
PPV is a broken model and oversaturated. It should be reserved for the rare superfight, but instead they put on several shows per year. You can't expect someone to pay $70 or $80 plus for every show when they do 4 or even 5 or 6 shows a year. That's ridiculous.
So then you have to watch a sh*tty stream in a foreign language that buffers or crashes half the time, watch a replay, or go to some stupid bar and pay a cover charge.
It also narrows your audience. You're limiting your number of potential viewers which keeps your audience from growing. You don't create new fans.
"Sick fights like... Ward kovalev and the can't miss rematch" if that is not appreciative enough for you, I don't know what is.
Perhaps "sucked big time" means something different where you come from. Lol...
Or, are you referring to ratings? Naturally, more people take free things than expensive ones so that shouldn't even be debatable.
If you're searching KOs on YouTube then that probably explains why you didn't appreciate the Ward/Kovalev fights. :lol1:

PPV's overtime became hit or bust. 1m buys or 100k (or less) buys. I can't help but think a lot of the people who'd normally buy fights got fed up of the cold war between Mayweather-Pacquaio and then you factor in when they were buying Mayweather fights most people didn't enjoy them but were invested into his fights to see him lose and because he was the most famous guy.
I think people got burned out from PPV's unless it's a mega event.
Mayweather sold because he embraced the heel roll, people wanted to see him lose so they paid up. Im not paying $100 for one decent fight. If they stacked cards like they use to in the 90s. Id pay $60 or so but they can butt a stump with the shit shows they put on now.
He is the smartest ever businessman boxer

Mayweather is TBE at the boxing game, he knows how to generate interest and PPV buys
True.
My point is the those can't be boxing fans.
Maximum amount of boxing fans won't be more than 150k cuz thatz the amount of people who buys even the most amazing fights.
