One of the best ever
A true ATG
The present day top 5 p4p Guys combined have less accolades than manny..
By far the most fan friendly fighter of his era
A great inspirational story and one of the last few people who sparked genuine interest with the fans and boxing. He had a lot of flaws and worked around them properly. I hated the whole posturing from him and Floyd. It was just crazy wack to me on every single level. I never personally felt Floyd was right with saying he cheated and was using PEDS. It was funny to hear Roger talk about that A-Side meth, but corny because just because you accuse me of using, don;t mean i am and just because i reject wanting to do your tests, don't mean anything either. He was an immaculate fighter and i want to see him still fight, if he can.
is he one of the best? one of the most exciting?
One of the true ATG fighters. Unique accomplishments and a unique story. Was a pleasure to follow his career...
I think he is one of the best and one of the most exciting. He is very old and well past prime and still good enough to beat a boxer as good as Vargas with no problem. He was a monster in his prime. I think his best weight is 135 but he still beats most welterweights even now.I think he will beat Lucas.
Speaking as somebody who's not a fan of him but respected him I'll say he was a definite all-time great and anyone who doesn't think so shouldn't be allowed to even think about Boxing let alone talk about it. After Mayweather fanboys he did/does have the most annoying and pathetic set of fans the sport has ever seen (sorry to the real fans and I know some personally).
I really stopped enjoying or caring about his fights in 2010 (apart from when he fought Marquez) but I did find him to be a very entertaining fighter and one who's fights I can happily go back and enjoy. What he accomplished being a lineal titleholder so young at flyweight and then a very good one at 122 and then what he was able to accomplish at 126 and above is truly remarkable. Not in terms of "titles" I mean in terms of level of opposition. I personally felt he lost all four fights to Marquez but he was very competitive and got official wins over Marquez, Barrera (who was on fire) and a series win over Morales (who was a little past it). Realistically those guys are all great fighters and they gave so many great fights and weren't scared to face great fighters in their primes. He was a big part of that.
I would personally rate him among the top 50 fighters of all-time. Probably around 40 sounds fair and that's not a diss. This sport has a ton of history and legends.
He's an all-time great. He moved up so many weight classes and beat some great fighters. At the end of the day, he's still only like 5'5". That's extremely impressive for a guy who's peak weight-class probably should have been around 130-140.
Do we all agree that there is more than likely a 99% chance that he was juiced in his prime?
As much as I like him he goes on the same list as Holyfield and RJJ etc
If you're going to say that, you might as well throw Floyd Mayweather Jr., Marquez, Wladimir Klitschko, and so forth on that list. There's a lot of PED users, but then again, drug testing isn't randomly done 365 days a year, and was extremely lax in prior decades.
how did he have a growth spurt? when he was fighting at 126-130 he was always huge for the weight and put on 15-20 pounds the next day. when he was at 147 he put on no weight the next day. thats called not draining yourself to make weight.
no he couldn't have had the fight earlier cause we know that when pac agreed to full testing in 2011 he still didn't fight and changed his demands. testing was not the reason the fight never happened. it was money. when floyd(forced by showtime) came correct with the money split the fight happened right away. the testing was a bluff
Were the stitches Manny got from Bob's son in law (despite not being needed) once Floyd got his jail start date extended so they could fight in 2013 a bluff?
IMO the 2nd best of his generation and one of the 10-12 best boxers I've seen since I started watching the sport.
i believe what paulie m, said....
"human beings dont have growth spurts at 28-29"
He couldve had the fight earlier, but he was scared of needles, and when he did start submitting to the tests, HE NEVER SCORED ANOTHER KO, he supposedly carried Power, gained stamina, as he moved up in weight:burnout:
Funny how you believe Paulie when he talks about Canelo, but not Pac:boxing::burnout:

Yea, I agree but the vast majority are. Let's not be naive.

Was one of the most exciting fighters I have ever seen, loved watching him fight. His losses were a direct result of his attacking style and he fought above his natural weight class for years past his prime.
Guys a legend and true fighter.
