TONY BELLEW believes boxing will not begin to properly punish drug cheats until someone dies in the ring. The former world cruiserweight champion yesterday delivered a devastating attack on the sport's authorities for letting doping cheats prosper. And he claimed it could end in "premeditated murder" if a boxer goes into the ring with the advantage of performance-enhancing substances. Click Here To Read More]
Ukad are pathetic. Proven incompetent and ineffective.
Theres a good reason AJ loves them and doesn't want to leave the UK.
On the money!
There is very little random drug testing done in UK boxing. Even less away from the fights, and virtually none apart from championship bouts.
Fury tested positive for nandrolone putting forward the excuse of "tainted wild boar meat" and agreeing to backdated 2-year ban. This was negotiated after his uncle, the convicted drug dealer, threatened to bankrupt UKAD with legal fees.
Don't take me the wrong way I think they should both be banned from the sport for live. It just amazes me that one man can be left hanging in the wind for 2 years deliberately with no decision made and the other is given a quarter of the other man's punishment. The BBBC deserved to be fined for the way it was handled. If it had been AJ it would have been handled exactly the same as we see with Canelo now. Money talks far too loudly in boxing.

You can't get the money fights without being the top guys, everyone's looking for that edge, and science just continues to allow for more undetectable drugs, while the agencies all have to try to play catch up
He's right.
Ultimately, these types of things that make boxing inefficient are the reason that the sport is being challenged by UFC. They have a centralized government and can create standards how they see them.
Now, that doesn't mean UFC isn't full of drug cheats, but they could actually clean their sport if they wanted to because everybody works under the same umbrella with one guy (Dana White) calling all the shots.
To be fair he has spoke about fury with kugan Cassius. Fury was suspended for 2years without investigation or process by the BBBC then handed his licence back without being found guilty or otherwise. Clenelo fails 2 tests and gets 6 months:wtf: I agree with Bellew that it will take a death but I think it would have to be a high profile fight or nothing will change.

Here's case in point:
April 5, 2018:
With junior lightweight world titleholder Kenichi Ogawa inactive and facing a likely suspension by the Nevada State Athletic Commission for a positive drug test, Billy Dib and Tevin Farmer have been ordered to meet for the vacant interim belt...
"Be advised that No. 3 Billy Dib and No. 4 Tevin Farmer are the two highest-ranked available contenders in the IBF junior lightweight division and have indicated a willingness to participate in this interim title fight," the IBF wrote to representatives of Manny Pacquiao's MP Promotions, which represents Dib, and Lou DiBella, who promotes Farmer. "In an effort to determine who the interim champion will be, the IBF is ordering that a bout should be held between Dib and Farmer for the interim title. The winner will be the interim champion and must fight IBF junior lightweight champion Kenichi Ogawa as soon as he is able to defend the title."

Why would the winner have to face Ogawa, who was busted for some synthetic testosterone prior to fighting Farmer? On top of that Ogawa clearly lost the fight!
when you pay the IBF 25-50K in a paper bag things just fall into place.
I agree with what Bellew is saying but he's a hypocrite; he didn't say much about Tyson Fury testing positive for steroids, did he?!

he may be right. there's a huge liability if somebody is negligent in screening for drugs and the dirty fighter kills somebody. and obviously the dirty fighter is liable, too.
money talks, especially in boxing. truly cleaning up the sport is impossible. drug tests take years to develop and they have to follow the drugs as they're created / designed. but the powers in the sport can absolutely contribute in cleaning up the sport. the only way they might do that, which will put their fighters and fights at risk and may even degrade the product, is if it makes economic sense; IE if they're liable for a death in the ring when a fighter is juiced.
Only in boxing that when u get caught cheating u dont get fined u keep your ranking and get more money in your next fight as if nothing ever happened!!!
Case in point Canelo, Nery, Povetkin, Vargas, just to name a few!!
Now u have Champions being demoted as champion" so another popular boxer (Davies)fights a bum for vacant title and becomes higher status then the real champ!!
Then u have a cheat ogawa get busted keeps title!!!
Meanwhile a boxer waiting forever to get his title shot (Farmer) gets cheated on by decision and then by his roided opponent!!
Cant make this up folks very sad for boxing!! 😯

Exactly! He was robbed on the cards, now we find he was fighting a cheat and he's expected to fight him again?
Disgraceful.

Ggg didn't die at hands of Nell thankfully. But his career might have been shortened.
Because Nell didn't get tired he could hit gg g for longer and harder. Nelo punches in 12th round were probably as hard as in 1st round. gg g couldn't hit Nelo as Nell didn't get tired and vulnerable on bike all night.
Basically Nell was so fit he didn't lose composure under heavy artilleryStfu crybaby lmao. Stop inventing lies.
Absolutely. This. PEDs in boxing has the worst consequences out of any sport and should be dealt with more harshly. We're talking about peoples lives ffs.
I would like to see a percentage of the boxers purse withheld from every fight. This money would be kept in an interest bearing account until say 5 years after he hangs up his gloves, at which time several of his blood tests from previous fights would be subjected to the latest detection techniques and a failure would result in forfeiture of the money. This would dissuade cheating and ensure that even the most profligate honest boxers would have a nest egg.
This clown signed his will on tissue-paper, thinking David Gay was going to kill him at HW and hes talking about safety. FOH Bellend!
