The problem with boxing today is none wants to put in the damn work anymore!!!
People say the same every generation I suspect. I believe redd had close to the truth in an earlier post. Just enjoy the fights, man.
Exactly. This whole measuring for greatness is just a side bar discussion, and in the case of nsb, non stop argument...the actual sport is happening in the ring, fight after fight.

We just had a generation of solid fighters retire within a span of a few years so it's going to take some time to build this generation and see who's got the stuff. Right now, this is all we got to work with.
Some people habitually get over-excited about fighters they like. These are the fanboys.
Redd, I couldn’t have said it any better. Everyone wants to compare this new group to Ward, Mayweather, Mosley, Pacquiao, etc.. it will definitely take time to weed out the yo yos. With that said, as you so well stated, it’s pretty much all we have to work with, at least for the time being
For 11 fights Loma has an excellent record and he's been a pro for 4 1/2 years of which he was a prospect for some of that time.
He's beaten Russell and Walters both fighters have had a claim to being #1 in their weight classes and many said they'd win. Martinez I believe was ranked #1 and Rigo was in every p4p list and many picked him to win. Throw Linares in and if he wins that look at that 4 1/2 year 12 fight resume. 3 division champ and the clear #1 at all of those weights. That's solid.
Loma has had 11 fights! How many fighters at 11 fights can you pick out with 5 incredible wins?
That said, he's won world championship at two weight classes in those 11 fights, so I'd say he's done pretty well so far.

Joshua- Wlad (top 5), Parker( top 5), Breazeale (top 10), Martin( top 10), takam .
GGG- Jacobs( top 3), Lemieux( top 5), Murray (top 10), Geale( top 10), Brook
Wilder- Stiverne( top 5), Ortiz (top 3), Scott, Duhaupas, Szpilka
Kovalev- Hopkins (top 3), Pascal (top 5), Chilemba, Cleverley (top 10), Pascal 2
Lomachenko- Rigo, Russell( top 5), Martinez ( top 5), Walters, Sosa
Mikey Garcia- Lipinets (top 5), Broner, R. Martinez, Zlantičanin ( top 3), Salido
Of all of them I say Mickey has the best resume. I feel like beside Garcia, Joshua and Kovalev too a certain Degree, you can make a case for the other guys being avoided.
Walters had to be top something when Loma fought him.
yeh i'd go with that 3G or kovalev as having the best career, espceially since you can happily argue that kovalev has a "draw" with a future ATG.
Perhaps kovalev is just ahead of 3G, he also started his title run younger despite being the younger of the two.
And he looks like a member of Carter USM, gotta count for something.
edit - kovalev is actually ahead of 3g in defences, 3G's run starts after takng his first title with danny geale, thats 8 defences in total. Sergey has 9 since coming back. So yeah Serg is arguably more accomplished.

I've seen plenty hype up Wilder, Loma and Mikey in various categories, threads on here stating Wilder has more power than Foreman, Mikey is labelled P4P and some label Loma a great already, although he hasn't done much....but why have you included AJ on the list?
When was the last time there was a thread stating AJ was better than Foreman in any aspect? Or anything along those lines?
The fact is, of those listed, AJ has the best win, GGG has the best career and the other's are playing catch up.
Wilder is a decade old joke. Mikey is scraping the barrel with his opponents and Loma has a lot to prove but the fight with Linares is amazing.
Loma literally moved up fight the best. Berchalt and Davis want go in a different direction cool he'll go up to fight the #1 in the next division. He got Russell, Walters, Rigo, Roman,Sosa, Marriaga. Even his wins that people like to scuff at are good wins. Marriaga a come forward fighter who gave a tough fight to Valdez and kept coming forward against power puncher Walters. Agaist Loma who "has little power" he fought in a way he never had running around backgrounds just trying to survive while beaten and stalked down. Sosa a come forward fighter who beat Gamboa(bs scorecards) and KO'd Fortuna who many had winning against Easter
Its stupid to put Loma on that list, and to a lesser extent Joshua. Both are ahead of the curve of where you would have expected them to be at this stage. Normally guys don't fight for world titles until after 20+ fights, and that's if they have had a long amateur pedigree. Joshua has not.
Loma obviously was the real deal when he turned pro but still, the rate at what he has done things, who he has beat, and how he's beat them is pretty staggering.
Obviously people get over excited and now think Loma is the GOAT, and comparable to Floyd, Duran, or Pac. He's not - you have to learn to ignore these people.
Joshua has potential to carry the division in an exciting way, but again using some perspective, he isn't in the same league as the top 90s heavyweights like Bowe, Holyfield, Tyson, and of course Lewis.
You have to let these careers play out and see where these guys get to, as someone already mentioned, this last couple of years has seen the ending ofva generation of top fighters, and these guys gave yet to prove, but there is time for that.
You can’t really call fighters great until their career is or almost wrapped up IMo
The sport is so f.ucked up , ruthless and unpredictable that’s it’s nearly Impossible to classify prospects as can’t miss because 90% of the time they miss
Almost all fighters don’t get their big career defining fights untill halfway through or on the back end of their career
Because of all the legends retiring in the last couple years Right now the P4P lists most guys are unproven and only starting or halfway through their career with the exception of GGg and Manny & Kov ( who shouldn’t be on it )
It’s mostly going off the eye test and potential to be great
GGG's best 5 wins in my opinion are a draw with Canelo, A close win over Jacobs. a KO of Lemieux, Murray and Brook. If Martinez, Cotto, Saunders and Eubank had fought him when they could have and should have I believe he would have KOed all of them. The hardest part for GGG has been getting other top middleweights to fight him. He has done very well under the circumstances. He has been a world champion for 8 years with 19 successful title defenses. If that isn't great then it's at least pretty damn good. Loma has an amazing amateur record and an equally amazing record for a pro with so few fights. He has defeated Rigo, Russell Jr., Martinez and is favored to beat another good champion in his third weight class. I believe he will be great.
hes good but 19 defences/8 years, you having a laugh?
He won his first title vs danny geale (2014/15?)so hes still in single figure defences after 3 years of titling.
Still 3 years with 9 defences is not to sniffed at, thats excellent. no need to pad it up to 19. 3G doesnt need fakism, he will make it into double figures on his own without your fanfiction.
