First of all, aj-wilder needs to happen now. I dont care about the splits or location of the fight, it just needs to happen already. But this is boxing, so who tf knows if it will, there's a very good chance that some bs from either side or both sides ends up killing the fight.
Having said that, i would favor klitchko right now over every top hw contender at the moment. I have no interest in the guys being mentioned like whyte, miller, breazale, kownacki or guys like povetkin, haye(if he beats bellew) and pulev who klitchko already dismantled.
Joshua-Klitchko 1 was a heavyweight classic, casuals would probably eat a rematch up. And if the rematch is half as good as the first fight then thats a success imo. Ajs chin and stamina will still be there to exploit if klitchko wants it again.
Klitchko-Wilder would also be a big fight here in the states. This would be wilders opporunity to really crossover as a legitimate star if he can look more impressive than aj did. Klitchko is an hw atg in terms of skill and power, so he has a chance to outbox and hurt wilder due to his sloppiness and lack of technique. Similarly, his glass chin can get detonated any second by wilders insane power.
Again, aj wilder needs to happen next but if it doesnt then I'd prefer to see either of them with klitchko over the current hws being mentioned.

a 42 year old fighter coming off of a year layoff and 2 back to back losses
no thank you.
Wlad is very old and completely retired. He has been fighting forever and he is a very rich man. He doesn't want to fight anymore and he doesn't need the money. If Miller keeps winning he would be a good opponent for the winner of AJ vs Wilder. He is young, big, powerful and improving every fight. Unless Wlad comes out of retirement and beats a contender he shouldn't be in the conversation. He was a good champion in his day but he will just be worse than he was against AJ a while back. I'll say it again. Wlad is really old.
I agree. Fury showed that Klitchko was already done.
Neither Joshua or wilder have any mandatories preventing a full title unification fight, no reason why it can't be next if both fighters want it.
^ This. After a round or two of the Fury fight, I knew Wladimir had finally gotten old. It was amazing for him to carry it to 39 y/o anyways and almost knocking out Joshua was basically a win at 41, but let's face it, he's nowhere close to what he once was.
No. Klitschko is done.

Guy is well over 40 now and been inactive for a year.although defeated wasn't embarrassed in his farewell show and went out on his sword passing on the batton the next top man in line. Its how it should be, and Wlad himself took enough time to think about the rematch and came to the same conclusion.
My opinion is he would get brutally KO'd by Joshua and Wilder at this point so i hope he doesn't even consider it.
Wilder and fury i agree with. I just cant get any type of interest if aj or wilder fight povetkin, miller or whyte next
Well, obviously none except Fury, Wilder or Joshua fighting one another are super fights but there's reasons that that isn't happening. Joshua's camp will not risk the Wilder fight because they have not made enough money yet. Wilder is the kind of fighter who can end a fight in one shot and that's a risky one to say the least. Fury is barely ready for a C class guy like Briggs right now.
Povetkin, Fury, Wilder, Miller and Whyte are all better options than retired Klitschko even though I would love to see a Joshua-Wlad rematch. Wilder would ruin Klitschko at this stage.

Because the retired fighter is still probably better than the current names being mentioned to fight either champ. If he fights this year, it would be less than the two years he was off prior to his fight with aj.

Why would a retired fighter be a viable option?
