Now you're underestimating Povetkin big time.
AJ vs Povetkin or Povetkin vs Wilder are not mis-matches on paper. Povetkin is a skilled boxer and far from a push-over. Anything can happen in boxing, you can get caught cold in the first round and the fight is over but win or lose Povetkin is good enough to give anyone in the HW a tough fight, including AJ and Wilder.
Just by looking at the sheer size and physique of Anthony Joshua compared to Alexander Povetkin, it seems like not only a mismatch, but a disgusting and a gruesome one at that. It's as big of a mismatch, or maybe even a bigger mismatch than say, Kell Brook vs Sergey Kovalev would be.
When I imagine Alexander Povetkin vs Anthony Joshua in the ring. I imagine a bear or an elephant (Anthony Joshua) vs a mouse inside a locked colloseum.
I expect Anthony Joshua to not even have the slightest of problems against Povetkin and expect him to win with extreme ease. Most likely by a concussive KO from rounds 1 - 3 and maybe even in the first 30 seconds of the first round. And I expect Alexander Povetkin to be turned into lentil soup by Anthony Joshua in super quick time after he gets brutally knocked out unconscious.
I really can't see Povetkin's punches even bothering / fazing Joshua. I think Joshua walks through the smaller and weaker Povetkin's punches because Joshua's size and durability would be too much for the weaker Povetkin to overcome using his much lower and weaker punching power. Povetkin doesn't even stand a puncher's chance in this fight because he is too small and lacks the punching power to do anything more than slightly irritate and tickle Joshua with his best / most powerful punches. And considering Joshua was able to take multiple of Wladimir Klitschko's punches without getting knocked out. Povetkin is asking to be slaughtered like an animal by Joshua.
If Anthony Joshua even slightly struggles at all to KO Povetkin, never mind beat him or is even slightly damaged or has even a slightly difficult time defensively or offensively or is uncomfortable in anyway shape or form. Then it'd expose Anthony Joshua and it'd be a testament to Joshua never really being that good to begin with in the first place, as initially thought.
The size advantage is the mismatch, that it. Povetkin is the most skilled heavyweight in boxing and you underestimate the value of that. Who has aj demolished in first couple rounds to make you think this? You have no evidence of Joshua doing what you say he would do to him.
And the fact you don't think povetkin vs price isn't a mismatch tells me you don't watch povetkin fights or you only look at size. Maybe just dislike him. But nothing you said is reasonable
Just out of curiosity my friend, what makes you think Alexander Povetkin is the most skilled heavyweight? I'm not saying I disagree! I'm just asking to find out why you think such is the case.
Even if I agree that Alexander Povetkin is the most skilled heavyweight (he definitely is one of them), Just by looking at the sheer size and physique of Anthony Joshua compared to Alexander Povetkin, it seems like it's not only a mismatch, but a disgusting and a gruesome one at that. It's as big of a mismatch, or maybe even a bigger mismatch than say, Kell Brook vs Sergey Kovalev would be.

Obviously skills matter. But how much would it matter against someone who is as monstrous looking and as physically as strong as Anthony Joshua, who looks almost like a different creature and animal altogether when compared to the much smaller and pudgier Povetkin?
If Povetkin tries to survive, he could. But that's not his style and because he comes forward all the time. He is going to walk into a monstrous punch that he will get slept by in probably the first round.
David Price is much bigger in size, weight, height and reach compared to Povetkin so that's not a mismatch. And David Price has the punching power to brutally KO Povetkin. But Povetkin lacks the punching power to even hurt Joshua in my opinion.
I think Povetkin would be a serious challenge for any HW. Prime Klitschko had to resort to cheating to beat him.
If you don't tie him up he is getting inside and landing explosive hooks, dangerous fighter for 12 rounds. AJ would have to really work on that if they fought.
Come one, be honest! Do you genuinely believe Alexander Povetkin poses even a minuscule amount of threat to someone like Anthony Joshua? This is one of the biggest mismatches I've ever seen. If Joshua doesn't totally demolish and knock Povetkin out unconscious, then I'll admit Joshua is overrated and deserves the criticism for the failure and may not be as good as I thought he was. And so I expect Joshua to totally steam roll and pretty much put Povetkin to sleep for a few minutes inside the first few rounds, if not in the first round itself. If he fails to do so, then return back to me and I'll rightfully eat my crow and own up to my mistakes.
Povetkin vs Price isn't really a mismatch in my opinion. This is the true mismatch! At least David Price possesses a significant size and power advantage over the much smaller, weaker, less powerful and shorter Povetkin.

Or maybe not
Your deluded if you think any of this is true

This is a disgusting / gruesome mismatch. Hopefully this fight doesn't take place and is cancelled for the sake of health and safety of the smaller man's life. This is close to public execution / animal slaughter. Total cruelty!
The fight doesn't last more than a round. In fact, I won't even be surprised if the fight's over in 30 seconds.
