Canelo must prove to Commission clenbuterol levels came from meat
By Jeff Aranow: Saul Canelo Alvarez will be meeting with the Nevada Commission on April 10th to prove to them that his 2 failed tests from the banned substance clenbuterol came from contaminated meat. Documentation on the purchase of the contaminated meat has been turned into the Nevada Commission by Golden Boy Promotions, according to Lance Pugmire of the Los Angeles Times.
Now it’s up to Commission to decide whether the information is enough to clear the 27-year-old Canelo. The levels that Canelo tested positive for with clenbuterol are said to be low and within the range of someone that had eaten contaminated beef. It’s going to be difficult for the Nevada Commission to prove that Canelo’s positive test for clenbuterol didn’t come from him eating contaminated meat. The levels are low enough for them to be consistent with someone having eaten meat that contained the substance. If the Commission is going to allow fighters to use the excuse that they ate contaminated meat for them to be cleared, then it’s likely Canelo will be given the green light by the Nevada Commission on April 10 to go ahead and fight Golovkin.
Some boxing fans might not like it, but the Commission allows the meat excuse to be used. If they’re going to allow fighters to swerve being penalized by them saying they ate contaminated meat, then Canelo will likely be cleared on April 10. It’s going to make the Commission look bad to some fans, but there’s nothing that can be done about that.
The Nevada Commission will want to hear what Canelo says on April 10 about his 2 positive tests for clenbuterol. Canelo’s first failed test on February 17 is said to have been 10 times higher for levels of clenbuterol for the second positive test on February 20. However, the tests were both low. It’s unclear what the Commission is going to ask Canelo.
It would seem that the low levels of his two positive tests should be enough for Canelo to be cleared. Canelo only has to say he ate contaminated meat, and then give the Commission the receipts for when and where he purchased the food. However, it would be a different story if the Commission didn’t allow fighters to use the contaminated meat excuse for them to avoid being suspended and penalized.
Low levels of a drug don’t necessarily mean that fighter ate contaminated meat. It could mean that the testing was done at the time the fighter was coming off the drug. You can argue that’s why the Commission should cancel the fight, because they have no way of knowing for certain how the clenbuterol got into Canelo’s system. If they’re going to make a judgment call and guess, then Golovkin could face a guy that has possibly used a drug to help him lean out his physique before starting training camp. Since then Commission can’t ever know for sure in cases like this, it’s better that they cancel a fight rather than letting it continue in my opinion.
That includes the big man.....said it from day one and it aint going to change and i hope fury gets himself back in shape so we find out kaffas.....we are polar opposites lol....as for fury fans its just banter fella i have no bad animosity towards them i just pity them lol.....how is life treating ya ?...one thing i do admire in you is you kept faith in your man
I don't believe he took nandrolone deliberately. And that's not because of fan bias, it's because the whole thing was so dodgy, from UKAD waiting 15 months to charge him, right through to them dropping the charge of refusing to provide a sample and the BBBoC handing him a back-dated 2 year ban.
They obviously did a deal because they knew the original allegation wouldn't stand up in front of the independant legal tribunal.
But I'm a little worried about him leaving Uncle Pete and linking up with Ben Davison, who I know very little about. P. F. isn't just an excellent trainer of defensive style HW boxing, he also had Tyson's rspect, as an older family member and authority figure, and he knew how to keep him grounded and sticking to a game plan.
Look what happened when Peter couldn't get a visa for the Cuningham fight. Tyson came into the ring on a big ego trip, started show boating and got decked. That would never have happened if Peter had been there. And if he did anything like that against AJ, it would be game over, for sure.
I think AJ is in for a tough fight on Sat. Something about the way Parker is handling himself now is making me feel a little uneasy.
Nobody but Tyson Fury, if he can get back in proper shape.

I never had much internet access fella so couldnt take part in this forum 😕
What happened ... did you find youself standing next to a Tyson Fury fan at the bar?
I've suspected Canelo of being a PED cheat ever since he withdrew from VADA to fight Smith, then, miraculously, was able to make 154 for the first time in years.
Where have you been hiding anyway? I would have expected you to have a lot to say about all the AJ/Wilder/Whyte bull**** coming from Wilder and his idiot fanboys.
And I think I owe you a beer, yeah? I'll get them in now.:beerchug: as for joshua/wilder and whyte.....i have always been right about joshua and no one beats him m8

I’ve been to Mexico three times, spent over a month each time. I ate out everyday, I never got a receipt. The only time your ever going to receive a recent is if u go into a Walmart or big commercial stores.
Does Mexico have supermarkets like the US or smaller shops? I've never been there, no idea.
its just like the U.S. You get receipts.
let me ask you, when you buys say say 5lb of beef from the deli area, do you go to the front and pay for it and get a receipt or does the butcher in the back take you money on the spot?
You can't get 5lb of beef at a deli. We have butcher shops, small shops and they don't give receipts. If I'm at a supermarket, sure receipt.
I mean there are people who made far more sophisticated plans for crimes worth a fraction of that money. I want him to have a fair trial but it's not that hard to conspire with some poor shop owner or farmer in Mexico. They could've planned out in advance for a third party to set up whatever scenario they needed, evidence that he shopped there should be the easiest part of that calculation. And like others have said tainted meat itself does not neccessarily exclude doping aswell but rather both can be used at the same time. If he's on a very late stage in his cycle maybe the traces of both sources would be low enough to pass it?
I do!
If he bought it for training then his accountant probably saved them itemizing his taxes.
And it took the accountant 1 month to find the receipt? I don't think he'd get any money back then.
Not exactly. Canelo weighed 154 for Smith, then 8 months later he was 164 for Chavez Jr, looking just as lean and ripped as he was at 154, then 4 months after that he was down to 160 for GGG.

You're Mexican right? Probably been to Mexico too right? Teach me about Mexico for a minute.
I'm guessing there isn't a lot of receipts exchanging hands at butcher shops in Mexico? Reason I ask is butcher shops here aren't exactly giving receipts either.
