Both fought Joseph Parker and arguably at least deserved a draw. Carlos Takam fought Anthony Joshua and was competitive against him in every round.
Who would win between these 2 underrated heavyweight contenders?
Takam is legit, gave povetkin hell also.
I think I'd go Ruiz though.
this. a roided to the gills povetkin too. takam is too old now tho, been in too many wars and only fights for a minute of the round, ruiz would throw 10 punches to his 1.
ruiz ud. but in his prime takam wins.
Even though this is a bad style match up (early) for Takam I'd still think he would be able to land enough on Ruiz and take him deep to pressure him to a stoppage. Takam can box and move when he wants to and is good inside, I think it would be similar to the Parker fight, but Ruiz wouldn't withstand the late pressure from Takam.
Andy has been real inactive since his loss to Parker in 2016. In fact he has only fought once, 2 weeks ago.
I'm kinda pissed about it too, I would have gone to see the fight if I had known.
Anyway, if Ruiz trains at all, I gotta go with Andy by decision.
I'll take Takam on points. Ruiz gassed pretty early against Parker so I don't see him being able to keep up with Takam over the duration of the 12 rounds.
In my opinion, Ruiz would win this easily based on styles.
Takam gave Parker trouble by getting inside and putting pressure on him. This would play right into Ruiz's hands, who is not only more dangerous on the inside than Takam, but also a better counter puncher. Takam allowed Povetkin to fight on the inside which eventually got him knocked out.
We are seeing the AJ effect. Anyone who fought and lost to AJ instantly becomes 10 times better because that proves how good AJ is. Look at Dylian Whyte. Even though he went razor close against a shot Chisora he must be a world beater because he went 8 rounds with AJ. Personally I think Ruiz. I was at that fight (with Parker) and remember thinking it could go either way.
