Anthony Joshua urges Deontay Wilder to be realistic in negotiations ahead of potential heavyweight showdown: 'Stop living the fantasy, you are coming here... take it or leave it'

Anthony Joshua has told Deontay Wilder to 'stop living the fantasy' and accept who would be the bigger draw in any potential title unification fight.
A clash between Joshua, Britain's IBF and WBA heavyweight champion, and WBC belt-holder Wilder for the undisputed world title would be one of the biggest bouts in world boxing.
Yet verbal blows between the pair via the media aside, there has been no serious negotiations between either fighter's camp.
Joshua first has to get past WBO champion Joseph Parker in another unification fight in Cardiff a week on Saturday but there is little doubt which fight is being eyed next.
And Joshua hopes Wilder recognises that he is a greater attraction in the UK than the American is in the US and agrees to cross the Atlantic for what would be a big showcase occasion.
Joshua said: 'If he was serious about the fight, we'd do serious negotiation. If not, (he should) stop hooting and hollering because we'll just freeze him out.
'We're in a position where I've still got great top-10 challengers I can compete with. He's in a position where the broadcasters ain't interested in (him fighting) Joe Bloggs anymore.
'I know where I am going with my career. If he wants to be a part of this and jump on the train and come to the UK, he has to be realistic and stop living the fantasy. That is all we are saying, be realistic in negotiations.
'What we've got to offer is going to be 10 times more in terms of financials - because that's what it comes down to - than he's looking at in America.
'If he offered me 10 times more money to fight than what I am looking at in the UK, I would go there to fight him. But he is coming here. We are doing the offering, he hasn't offered us. Take it or leave it.'
Wilder is expected to be at the Principality Stadium as Joshua takes on Parker in front of an expected crowd of 78,000.
'I'd love to sit down and talk with him,' said promoter Eddie Hearn, who would consider the possibility of a two-fight deal with Wilder, with bouts in both countries.
'There's a lot of bluster with Deontay but he's not an idiot. He knows what he's doing and he's doing a good job in attracting people to fights, but I think this fight will be made a lot quicker than people think. I believe it will be in 2018. We'll either fight once more in the interim or go straight to Wilder.'
Joshua's immediate concern is Parker, an unbeaten professional of 24 fights. After some debate over his weight, Joshua has confirmed he intends to tip the scales lighter than for previous fights at '112kg max', or 17st 8lbs. He weighed in at a career-high 18st 2lbs for his last fight against Carlos Takam in October.
Joshua, who has not lost in 20 bouts, said: 'Your size does cope with impact, with more robustness you can take a lot more.
'In terms of Parker, I'm not saying he can't punch if I come in lighter, but I should be a lot quicker and outwit him.'

I consider myself an example of the average American consumer.
Until AJ comes to America and beats a legit HW like Wilder here, Americans won’t take much notice
and?????
Who cares when you are making so much money that you can leave comfortably for 3 generations?
I consider myself an example of the average American consumer.

Looking at his career so far i think we have all realised your not needed, I am not sure where you are getting this level of importance from.
so u consider yourself the market?
nice ego!

Joshua has everything to do with negotiations bc Hearn CANT negotiate without a set bench mark of what is acceptible , Joshua doesnt have to be there . Hearn is told by Joshua what ball park of figures he deems acceptable when they go over numbers .....
Hearn works for Joshua not the other way around ......... if he wants the fight done ,its made . He has FINAL say in the negotiations !
Does that make you butt HURT _______ BRO ? :spank:
POINT MADE! I SAID JOSHUA DOESNT SIT DOWN FOR ANY NEGOTIATIONS. Your fanboy panties got into a bunch, because you were wrong, why does he even have a PROMOTER! Oh he does, to negotiate fight purses and sh|t like that. Youre probably a young cat that doesnt deal in reality yet, Rocky Balboa is a fictional character....its a whole bunch of sh|t you dont actually realize about boxing:boxing:
This has all been a long and protracted thing and up until now I'd say due to Wilders side. His promoter situation is confusing, Hearn's talked with varying different people, it's just a mess.
Deontay was saying 50-50, for ages.
Now he's saying 60-40 to AJ, and the winner getting the 60 in the rematch.
I think that's about what he's said in the media at least !?!
So, that's not really far off. Parker settled for 33% or something, he has one belt, and is less of a draw.
So 40% is the right ball park in fairness to Wilder now.
At least that's doable.
The fight will happen in the next 12 months. Which when you consider HW careers, these 2 will likely fight another 8+ years. It's reasonable to build it a bit.
If AJ pummel him this year, the same people will be complaining next year that HW's dead, and no exciting fight prospects.
Well, it's all part of a big game, chess pieces, building, and spreading out the big fights.
As long as it happens within 12 months I don't really give a crap. Most American fans weren't convinced on Wilder at all up until the last year or so. Now everyone seems to have bought into him and saying AJ's avoiding him. Na. It'll happen kids. Chill out.
Joshua and McCracken decide who to fight next and what they expect to make , NOT Hearn....... he only gives them options WHO he has next too fight !
Does that HURT your feelings............. BRO ?:davil2:
He still doesnt NEGOTIATE OR SIT IN ON NEGOTIATIONS, like I said, obviously youre looking to argue FACTS against your HURTfeelings, obviously I hurt your feelings :burnout:
can anyone actually make an arguement for this to happen in vegas?
as much as i would like it to happen, i don't see casinos outbidding the UK which is where the money is.
Vegas had its time this is the world stage now there is no option 20 thousand fans Vegas or 90 thousand UK. Joshua has at the whole division queuing up to fight him as your guaranteed a bid payday for now.
Wilder needs to wake up before he gets frozen out, is Whyte his next mandatory?

:firedevil
Could just be a tactic to drive up his value on the Vegas side of it to. I think we think of these talks in too literal terms too much. Its a negotiation. You often ask for 70% to get 60% in a negotiation.
And I hate this two fight deal bs. Quite often a two fight deal doesn't make sense cuz the first fight decides things. I say just make one fight. In the UK or get full value if you gotta travel. Then if Wilder wins they can just make a new deal.
Joshua is & should be the favorite here. I think he gives away more trying to make this a two fight deal then he gains cuz he's likely to win anyway. If he loses it mighta been better to do a two fight deal, but you also take on some risk with how this business works.
Pretty much. If everyone was reasonable, you'd negotiate the first fight to where the biggest piece gets generated, with a handshake between the camps to talk a second fight if things make sense.
Still, above everything, I wanna see the fight, however they have to get there.
Doubt gate money made in Vegas will be big considering none of them are big stars in US.
Both are universally known in the boxing world and have a good amount of reach into the sports/non-sports world, both can promo the fight in English everywhere, both are big punchers, it's Heavyweight boxing, and it'd be for the undisputed heavyweight championship of the world.
Doubt the potential event if you want.
Wilder already said he has no issues going to the UK, so what's with this moronic strawman argument? Man I just want these mofos to get it on NEXT NEXT NEXT NEXT NEXT.
I’ve never purchased aJoshua ppv.
He’s overrated as a draw.
Outside of England no one cares.
Overrated as a draw? :lol1: He's literally Britains biggest boxing draw of all times.
