Broner comes into the ring pretty heavy himself, and I think that many looked at him as the underdog (which I believe he was) because he was crude and lacked real skill vs someone like what Broner was perceived to be. Maidana would later say Broner hit harder than anyone he had fought.
Do people REALLY think if Broner would let his hands go he would've lost to 2 head Mikey Garcia? I'm sorry, but there's no way. Broner is now, and always will be a scared fighter. That's why Garcia picked him as an opponent... Vargas too.
Broner has talent, he just has a sh-t work ethic and an outsized sense of self.
I don't think he would beat Mikey because IMO Mikey is better. That said, Broner's antics and out the ring BS have people not judging him fairly.
He is a damn good fighter at 140 and below, even though he has had tough fights and close fights. At 147, he is just average.
So what. Let the man grieve. And it wasn't as bad as it could have been, he showed grit and toughness hanging in, even hurting Maidana in the final round(s)
Didn't Broner lose primarily because Maidana was much bigger than him? Broner is great at 140 but average against bigger guys at 147.
There are a lot of guys like that-hell Gonzalez looked dominant at 115 and below, goes to 118 and the fights are much closer.
Of course if Broner worked and trained as hard as Gonzalez he might have won some of those fights above 140.

Still super confused by that. Dude throws 4 punches a round.
If he actually focused on being more like Pacman and less like a Floyd, he would be a whole lot better.
He doesn't need to focus on being Manny and open for counters, nor does he throw straight enough punches like Manny, and he doesn't need to be like Floyd, who just has a genius boxing IQ that Broner will never have. Broner needs to be himself, but imo he freezes and just tries to land 1 big punch.
not a broner fan...in fact i enjoy having a laugh at his expense once in awhile...despite the fact that he is obviously a sad and ignorant man
but you really have to look at the situation...he saw his career and earning potential sort of take a nosedive that night.....reality struck....whether it was him and his people..or just his idea...or just his peoples idea...he wasnt ready for that fight and they pushed it and rushed it...and it backfired.....
the guy probably thought he would make 100 mil in the boxing game...and that night realized it wasnt going to happen and it was going to be a struggle
i dont think broner is super talented anyways....but later in his life when hes done fighting hes going to regret the way he handled himself....kind of like zab.....you could see real late in zabs career in his last couple of fights zab was a changed man...and you could see the regret in him that he didnt take things serious enough when he had it in his hands
Broner bit off more than he could chew but actually handled himself fairly well. He gets clowned for this fight because he talked so much crap. It's crazy seeing how Maidana was completely whitewashed by Alexander and then come back with a performance like this. And then land 2 fights against Mayweather only to go back into obscurity. Boxing is crazy sometimes.
Since that time broner has feared letting his hands go, which is a shame with that kind of speed and punching power... zab Judah all over again.

Broner ran his mouth, got really beaten up because he was simply too ****y. However, with an obvious facial fracture, if not multiple, one cannot say he did not show heart and courage and that shot in the 11th (even though it was after the bell) without the smelling salts might've been it for maidana in the 12th.
