Olympic gold medalist vs olympic gold medalist :boxing:
Top Rank vice president Carl Moretti and Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn met Friday at the Oscar Valdez-Scott Quigg fight hotel in Manhattan Beach, California to talk about a three-fight deal for Top Rank to co-promote British lightweight contender Luke Campbell (17-2, 14 KOs) under which Campbell would fight in the United States this summer and fall with the third fight coming in the first quarter of 2019 against pound-for-pound king and junior lightweight titlist Vasiliy Lomachenko, who is moving up to lightweight. Moretti said the potential Lomachenko fight – a match between Olympic gold medalists – would probably be in England. “Eddie loves it. Luke loved it,” Moretti said. “We’ll get into further details in the next couple of weeks.”

the division is pretty trash and he looked solid against linares. i think he fights beltran for a belt and then loma if he wins
Beltran isn't world class anymore. 135 has some decent fighters, MIkey, Easter etc. They all need to fight each other to decide who is best, with Linares currently top of the pile.
dont underestimate the uk market. if campbell wins a belt he will probably have a solid following. uk fighters are all the rage now. its like when floyd used to cherry pick mexican fighters to get their fanbase. loma/arum are smart building up this opponent a year in advance unlike haymon/garcia who fight uknown lipinets with no fanbase
If they want to make a big fight against a fighter from the UK why not Josh Taylor for 2019? I know Taylor isn't from England, so it may not be the same, but that's a more intriguing fight.
I don't mind the Campbell fight, but for this year NOT next year.
Just have Campbell fight Beltran and if he wins let him unify against Loma in August.
Loma should target Linares, Beltran/Campbell, and Mikey Garcia this year, then move up to 140 next year.
I want to see Loma test himself not fight guys like Indongo, Felix Diaz, Postol, John Molina, Hank Lundy, Thomas Dulorme, Dierry Jean, and Ricky Burns and then claim your the best.
There's no point in building Loma-Campbell it's not a big fight.
Just have Campbell fight Beltran on the undercard of Loma-Linares, assuming it happens, and then the winners fight in August.
Easy solution. No need to build it up to 2019. It's not that type of fight.
Think theyre probably thinking more about Lomachenkos schedule to have it in 3 fights. Arum seems pretty keen on the Pacquiao/Lomachenko fight. So I'd imagine the plan is something like
Lomachenko - Linares-Pacquiao-Campbell
Campbell - Mendy(WBC)-Beltran(Unification)-Lomachenko
Sounds like they want Campbell/Lomachenko to be in the UK, itll be a big fight over here

Only way a Loma fight would be reasonable is if Campbell fought and beat world class opponents. I doubt that.

I understand, Yvan Mendy already whooped your ass and hes in the way to the WBC world title and even a shot Crolla probably beats you at home.
Campbell's improved since the Mendy fight, rematch is long overdue though. Should be made next really, for the interim title, whilst Garcia messes about deciding what he wants to do again.
Eddie Hearn shows himself to be a smarter man than to fall for that nonsense, especially with the alleged cash out coming out of Hearn's home market after shipping his British Olympian out of the country for two fights first. lol
Mikey Garcia will have the WBC 135lb belt outright if Linares doesn't want to fight (For all the boxing media talk, Golden Boy isn't going to counter program against their own show on HBO, and I doubt that Bob Arum would actually go along with having Lomachenko compete against the NBA conference finals for eyeballs either. Wouldn't hold my breath on Linares-Lomachenko actually happening), and Robert Easter Jr still has the IBF 135lb belt.
Lomachenko vs Ray Beltran for the ESPN date in question (Golden Boy likely pairs Diego De La Hoya with the Canelo re-air), Mikey Garcia vs Jorge Linares becomes far more likely for June/July, and, while he waits, you can put on Easter Jr (c) vs Anthony Crolla in Manchester, UK .
I still think that Mikey beats Linares, so you end up with the WBC/WBA/IBF belts all in one place, more than open to working with Eddie's terms.
Arum setting up the division for Lomachenko to have a go at undisputed. WBO already in Top Ranks hands. WBC if Garcia dont want to fight and moves up Campbell will be ordered to fight for it.
